Just realized that the other two guys recommended the Thinkpad, I actually have the 2017 13in Ideapad 710s Plus. It doesn't have the Carbon Fiber that the Thinkpad Carbon X1 has, but it has an i7, 520GB SSD, 16GB of RAM, and under three pounds for $1200. You'd be paying $300-$400 more for the same equivalent on the Carbon X1. The Keyboard is very similar to the X1 as well. The trackpad is a bit sensitive, but I use a bluetooth mouse so I don't even really notice it.

If you could go without a touchscreen, this Lenovo Ideapad 710s 13.3" Laptop would be a wonderful pick for you based on your needs. It's build quality is awesome, I like it's keyboard very much and of course , with a proven 8 hours battery life, it would do you well. Other two excellent options are the :
