I don't think most people do. I ordered a little hand held bottle for my run. Most of the time I finish my runs with 3/4 of the bottle still full. I use it to keep my mouth from drying out. I also read an article about people who sweat a lot (I sweat a ton) should be sure to hydrate while running.
The way I see it is, if I don't need it no biggie, but if I do I at least have it.
