I need to watch some reviews on it though first. Would be nice to actually see a C8 in person.

Here's a graph of Amazon's price trends for the 2018 65" C8, which tends to be about $200-300 more than the SlickDeal threads.

It launched at $3500 in April dropped to $2400 by November, before going back up. Between December and March, there wasn't any big price drops. The last drop was on March 30th for $2007 to clear out the old models, as they started shipping out the new 2019 C9 models that same day.

I believe you meant the regular price for the 55'' B8 to be $2999, not $3999. At least that's what it is on Costco now.

I'm personally more interested in a 65'' C8. Judging from the Amazon history, regular price is around $4000, and it dropped a few times to $3500. Can I expect the Black Friday price to be $3000?

And from your personal experience, where would be the best place to buy a TV for someone living in Quebec? Go directly to BestBuy/Walmart/Tanguay? Order online from Amazon? From somewhere else?

TVs generally have the same prices across all retailers (Example: LG's OLED65C8P at Amazon, LG, Best Buy.)

Laptops generally have the same prices across all retailers (Example: Microsoft's Surface 6 at Microsoft, Amazon, Best Buy)

You can't compare "bags of rice of the same size and brand" across grocery stores as each have their own strategies in getting you through the door. One store may decide to have a $5 off sale but other items wouldn't be on sale, and as most families do their grocery shopping in one place, stores take advantage of that. Stores will take losses on certain items and higher profits on others according to their research, the season, etc.

Electronics are a different retailing model as most people do research into pricing prior to purchase as they aren't likely to repeatedly buy the product.

Price fixing in any of these scenarios would mean these retailers got together and said "hey let's take a 50% profit margin on these products instead of the 10% profit margin that the recommended MSRP would allow us." And because no one else sold it, consumers would be forced to pay the heftier price.

You are saying retailers dropping their prices around the same time is price fixing, so what do you expect them to do? Best Buy lowers their price for Mario Party to $45, earning them a $2 profit per copy, but Amazon and Wal-mart have to stay at $60? They'd literally get no sales off Mario Party because everyone would buy from Best Buy.

So I was just recently handed a situation - Amazon shipped me a LG 65inch OLED C8 TV (most likely 2018 model) instead of a 2018 Sony Bravia X830F LED TV.

I did some preliminary research and found that OLED is of course a premium to LED TVs, so essentially as a consumer, if you want to say, "match" the performance of a OLED television from a LED perspective, one must "scale up" in certain areas/features.

Due to the very limited online resources comparing the two televisions (because you are essentially comparing oranges to apples) I have now turned to the Reddit community for guidance and what your thoughts on this matter would be. In your own calculated mind, would you advise me to keep the LG television, or accept the return and exchange for the original Sony 70inch TV.
