G502 Master race $50 - Just look at that build quality compared to the "GARMAR" (Who?) mouse.

u/FumbledAgain · 54 pointsr/Vive

I made this guide because the selection for bags that actually fit the HTC Vive well are either poorly constructed, overpriced, or both. The only case actually intended for the Vive I could find was this overpriced monstrocity, and this, even more overpriced, even larger monstrocity. So I did some digging, tried out a few things, and made this guide.

Good find! Got the same deal yesterday on Amazon, but today it inched up to $55.99. Still, you might op for Amazon anyway for prime and two day shipping: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B019OB663A/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1496336648&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=g502&dpPl=1&dpID=41xxUrMt7nL&ref=plSrch

Mouse: Logictech G502. It is widely considered to be the "best" mouse for PC enthusiasts.

Keyboard: Will heavily depend on your preferences, but I have a DASKeyboard 4 Ultimate with Cherry MX Blues (tactile click). I have also heard nice things about the Corsair K70, and Strafe. If you are new to mechanical keyboards, I would recommend checking out the subreddit /r/mechanicalkeyboards for more information.

Headset: I just use an old set of Turtle Beach X12s I've had forever, because I usually just use my soundbar, but a buddy of mine prefers to use a desk mic and some Audio-Technica headphones.

EDIT: Saw your budget in the other comments. You should probably go with the Strafe for your keyboard. Most others below $100 aren't as high of quality. Personally, I think you should get the Strafe, the G502, and the headphones/mic combo.

Their are much better products available for a few $ more. I just feel that their had to be too many compromises to get a "gaming" kb/m for $30.

I just got a Logitech G502 mouse for $60 after using my mx518 for 9 years. I only upgraded because I wanted to, not because of failure or any kind of reliability issues it is going to be moved to a second machine.
I just got a mechanical keyboard for like $40 and it is a absolute dream to play on opposed to a membrane one. I had a high quality membrane keyboard the Logitech G15 v2 but I couldn't stand it after using this new one for only a few days. Honestly quality will go so much further than getting something cheap and flashy. I wasn't sure about the keyboard at first if I would like mechanical but I am now looking back at some of the Logitech offerings.

I'd say for me, if I were making my own home office and wanted to trick it out:

At minimum a dual monitor setup, but it would be nice to have 3 (I have dual monitors and also the laptop screen running them so it works out to 3.) A nice monitor arm that will hold both (or all 3) monitors to keep the desk clutter free. Something nice that makes both monitors adjustable for you (maybe even a 90 degree rotation so you can code on a vertical screen when you feel like it.)

A nice condenser mic with an arm for it as well. I figure if I were working from home I would probably be doing conference calls more regularly than if I were in the office, so a good condenser mic will make my life easier and make sure I can communicate well. Maybe a blue yeti or blue yeti snowball with a nice boom arm for it like so so I can use it when I want it and then push it away when I don't.

In the same vein, a decent webcam that can clip on to my monitor (or buy one of the above boom arms and attach the camera to it, probably smart for only $15 so you can move it around.)

Definitely a great office chair since you can justify the expense and you're going to be sitting all day.

This one is great regardless of working for home or working from the office, but a nice mouse. I just got a Logitech G502 the other day for gaming as well as work purposes and MAN. I never knew what I was missing out on. I have thumb buttons/extra buttons programmed to copy, paste, delete, winkey + e to open an explorer window, ctrl + t for new tab, and also a key combination to switch my active window to my other monitor so I can quickly move stuff between them without having to click and drag.

Since you're working from home and don't have to worry about bothering other people, I'd definitely buy a nice mechanical keyboard. They're a dream to type on. I used to have an office to myself so I bought one and I miss it dearly now that I'm in a cubicle. In my opinion, well worth the expense.

Again since you're not in an office you could get a nice speaker. Bluetooth to keep the cord clutter down but really anything works. You can go budget or big here.

If you're a whiteboard person, a whiteboard to hang on the wall.

Definitely yes to the dock. I have one here at my office and it's so flipping nice being able to plug in one thunderbolt cable and keep the clutter contained to the back of my desk behind my monitors with the dock.

I'd probably buy a nice standing or desk light that still uses filament bulbs to make it warm/easy on the eyes. Ample lighting. And probably a plant or two just to make it look nice and feel good being there.

That's all I can think of. Can you tell I'm living vicariously through you? I know you said must haves, so if I were going to buy the above in order, it would be monitors > dock > mouse > blue yeti snowball > mic stand > camera > camera stand

  • Mouse - Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum. Good weight and decent button placement.
  • Keyboard - IBM Model M 1391401. Buckling spring keyboards are great!
  • Headphones - Sennheiser HD598. Open back gives a huge soundstage for gaming. Amazing headphones.
  • Microphone - Samson Meteor. Very accurate microphone that is very sensitive, so be careful what you say on the other side of the house. If the mic is open everyone will hear. In Discord you can adjust the sensitivity so that it is only open when you speak and that works quite well.

That being said, I'd like to toss this non-programming part your way.

I'm a long time MMO player here and wanted to chime in on hotkeys.

First, do you have a 5 button mouse? If not, please please please consider getting one. They will make your MMO playing experience much better. I'd suggest checking out a Logitch Proteus 502. That's the mouse I ended up grabbing a while ago and I now have a backup on my shelf because I like it that much. Being able to bind Mouse 4 Mouse 5 (XButton1/XButton2 in AHK), the sideway mousewheel motions, and the extra 3 buttons make for easy rebinding in any game and keeps abilities right at your fingertips.

Alternately, you can try the MMO mouses with 12 buttons on the side. It's specifically designed for MMO game bars which are universally 12 buttons (1-0, -, +). Some people swear by these. I prefer the proteus (7 buttons are more than enough).

It sounds like you're using default keybinds in game. Have you considered remapping?

Years ago when I was a hardcore raider (Maybe during BC?) and actually still played the game, I forced myself to start using non-default keybinds. The game became way more fun and my "skill" shot up. Getting the right spell off at the right time is what an MMO is all about afterall.

Since then, I follow kind of the same pattern with any and every game and I've never ran out of keybinds.
Here's what I use row by row.
1-5
q, e, r
capslock, f, g
z, x, c, v and b
along with the shift variants of them for all combat related stuff.

You can get rid of e/q strafing by binding strafe to a/d and using rbutton and moving your mouse to turn. It's weird at first, but once you get used to it, I doubt you'll go back. Keyboard turning is honestly worthless.

Using control variants, I can open up all the menus. Like ctrl+s for skills, ctrl+c for character, ctrl+f for inventory, etc.

You can open up even more keybinds by learning to use ESDF for movement instead of WASD movement. I never got around to learning that but haven't found a game I needed THAT many keybinds for.

I just wanted to mention this to both help with your finger and to increase your ingame performance. With more keybindings available, you shouldn't need the shift variants.

If you try these out, don't test it with a fully leveled toon. You might get overwhelmed. I did.
Instead, start a new guy and add skills one by one as you get them. You'll get used to their position and using them with the new keys and it'll be a much easier and seamless transition.

Another option you have is using one of your mouse buttons (or another key) as your shift so it doesn't mess with your injured finger. You could use capslock with your pinky or you could hold one of your mouse buttons down for shift.

Capslock Example:

SingleInstance, Force

IfWinActive, ahk_exe wow.exe

CapsLock::
While GetKeyState("CapsLock", "P")
Send, {Shift Down}
return

CapsLock Up::
Send, {Shift Up}
return

IfWinActive

Mouse Button Example:

SingleInstance, Force

IfWinActive, ahk_exe wow.exe

~RButton::<br />
    While GetKeyState(&quot;RButton&quot;, &quot;P&quot;)<br />
        Send, {Shift Down}<br />
return<br />

~RButton Up::
Send, {Shift Up}
return

I love my Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum RGB Tunable Gaming Mouse, FPS Mouse. Much cheaper than a Razer, and you still get 11 programmable buttons. Just use only 6 of them... :-)

Still waiting for a prebuilt in canada that isn't dell and doesn't depend on a university student discount, if anyone has any leads on something that isn't in this sub let me know.

I did wind up picking up a logitech g502 though - it seems to be on sale everywhere so I'm not sure if its just one of those always on sale things. Its 44% off on amazon with prime shipping or you can try watching newegg where its 50% off but sold out. Anyhow, I didnt realize how toast the sensor on my old mouse was and this was the best impulse purchase I have made in a very long time.

If you must have a headset, get a HyperX Cloud. It's basically Takstar Pro80 that Kingston re-branded and slapped a mic on. The HyperX Cloud II is only worth getting if you want virtual 7.1 surround.

The Logitech G502 is a great mouse for all games, but considering the cost of the headset, you might want a Logitech G303, Steelseries Rival 300, or a Razer Deathadder.

u/WinterIsComin · 3 pointsr/buildapc

What you came up with here is very very good, you don't need to change much.

I would recommend a higher end Z370 board over that TUF Z390. The Z370 Taichi by AsRock is widely regarded as one of the best boards for OCing and power delivery and is compatible with 9th gen.

If you want to still use the Crystal 280x (which will only work with Micro ATX boards) your options for mobo are pretty limited. This EVGA board I'm fairly sure will have better power delivery than the TUF you linked.

I also have a couple of peripheral suggestions which might be a bit more reliable (I and many others have had Razer stuff die in a year or two)

The logitech proteus mouse is half the price of the deathadder and has more features if that's your jam. If you prefer less buttons, G203 is a smaller, more minimalistic mouse with some very bright, consistent lighting. Both have fantastic sensors and dat Logitech support team.

I see you picked out a full-sized board--this Logitech is a bit cheaper and still RGB, mechanical, though no wrist rest unfortunately.

Not trying to shill for Logitech, it's just that peripherals is where you can save the most cash without sacrificing at all on quality and Logitech is a pretty safe bet for durability and customer support.

Alternate monitor possibility: some prefer the Acer XB27, some prefer the Asus you've selected. I'd check /r/monitors for comparisons and breakdowns of the most recent panel for each.

I can't work on any other mouse now that I have had the logitech G502. I have mapped the buttons to zoom in and out and undo and redo and the one right under my thumb is spacebar so I can use the pan tool really easily. I bought an extra just in case they ever discontinue it because I love it so much.

If you're not wanting a full keypad - Logitech Proteus - $50 US

If you do like full keypads - Logitech G600 - $53 US

Logitech does pretty good with their mice. While I like the Razer Naga better in use, the G600 is more durable in my experience.

That said, there's plenty of less known brands for cheaper prices that still have decent ratings such as the UtechSmart Venus - $39 US

Hey my proud Logitech G402 &amp; G502 both advertise their durability with "20 million" clicks.

And last time I heard, most mechanical key switches can last up to 50+ million keystrokes.

So I thought your work was clever! :D

It would be interesting if the body of the mouse volumized a bit more around the mechanical key switches to be more ergonomic. Maybe you can 3D print something as a solution (if you have own/have access to 3D printers)?

It's alright. I only bought it cause my G502 was too bulky to carry with me every day. Also, I've broken a G502 in the past by carrying it with me in my backpack all the time.

Things I like about it: Super portable, reasonably ergonomic when you factor in the portability, love the interaction involved with snapping it to turn it on/off, and the gestures for scrolling are surprisingly nice.

Things I don't like: Not super ergonomic for a mouse, wouldn't want to use it for more than an hour at a time, too cumbersome to use it for CAD modeling, middle mouse button equivalent is clunky and doesn't always work (it sometimes registers as either left or right click).

Honestly, if you need a portable mouse to replace using your laptop's touchpad for light usage, I would recommend it. For gaming/CAD work I wouldn't. It's also a little expensive.

u/iAlwaysDoubleJump · 3 pointsr/halo

How so? Most gaming mice (besides FPS mice funnily enough) have M1 and M2 (triggers), usually at least two thumb buttons (shoulder buttons or two face buttons), and on the keyboard you have two fingers at most pushing WASD keys for movement, which leaves your pinky and ring finger to cover tab, Q, caps lock, left shift, and left control, thumb on space bar, and pointer finger on E, R F, and C easily.

There are characters in Overwatch or TF2 with much more complicated movement than what we have in Halo 5, and PC players are usually able to move better than console players. Same thing with Mirrors Edge, an FPS game about movement.

I can break down a pretty simple kb+m setup for the current controls, though I'm sure I'd tweak it. For reference, I have a Logitech G502 gaming mouse, which is pretty standard for a gaming mouse, and one of the more popular general gaming mice. It's very high quality and while the price on amazon is currently around $75 usd, it frequently goes on sale for as low as $50, and there are tons of options for mice.

Anyway, noting that I use Bumper Jumper on controller, I would do:

  • Mouse 1- Right Trigger (Fire)

  • Mouse 2- Right Thumbstick (SmartScope)

  • Mouse 3 (scroll wheel click)- X (Thruster Pack)

  • Mouse 4 (front thumb button)- Left Trigger (Grenade)

  • Mouse 5 (rear thumb button)- Right Bumper (Melee, Ground Pound, Spartan Charge)

  • Space Bar- Left Bumper (Jump and Clamber)

  • E- B (Action and Reload)

  • Left Ctrl- Left Thumbstick (Crouch)

  • Left Shift- A (Sprint)

  • Q- Y (Switch Weapon)

  • R- Dpad Left (Switch Grenades)

  • F- Dpad Right (Switch Grenades)

  • Tab- Back (Scoreboard)

  • Esc- Start (Pause)

It all seems complicated, but most people I know who played console FPS games before PC FPS games say it's easy to get used to, and I agree. The hardest part is learning to aim with a mouse, but it doesn't take long for most people to match what they can do on a controller, but it can take a while to get to a higher ability that matches where they were on a controller relative to others on those peripherals.

I've played Halo Online, which is running a version of the Halo 4 engine, so the controls are pretty similarly complicated compared to Halo 5, and I was easily as good, if not better, within a few hours of playing.

The one thing I think kb+m will definitely not be as comfortable for is vehicle use. I think controllers are better for vehicles in Halo CE and Halo 2, as well as in games like GTA V and Battlefield.

With all of this of course, your mileage may vary.

So, my suggestion to you, get 2 Stinky Boards that you control with your feet. That's 8 buttons which should mostly make up for the loss of major left hand use.

Then get a mouse with lots of buttons like the Logitech G502, Utech Venus, or the Razer Naga line.

It will definitely take some getting used to, but you probably wouldn't need to give up any of the games you love.

The last recommendation I have to further expand your ability to control games with minimal left hand usage is Voice Attack Which lets you program in (assuming someone hasn't built a profile already) sequences of key presses and other things that respond to your voice. When properly set up, it works amazingly for games like Elite: Dangerous when I'm in VR and can't really see the keyboard to use those controls.

Best of luck to you, and hopefully you regain full functionality soon.

Not in the US they aren't. If you compare Razer mice and mats to other mice of the same type, they come out cheaper. I think the brand just turns people off, and that's fine. I will tell you how I do it. I am likely in the minority though. My left hand controls wasd and jump and a few emotes. I have a gaming mouse that I use for push to talk, reload, ability 1, ability 2 and ultimate. I use a Logitech mouse that is now unavailable but if I were buying a new one I would get

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019OB663A/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I37CKR4WOT3RB1&amp;amp;colid=2SCF7FGFGR21R&amp;amp;psc=0

My thumb controls Ability 1(bottom side button), 2(top side button) and push to talk(back top button). My index is ultimate(front button on the side of left click) and reload(tilt scroll to the right).

One way of thinking about sensitivity and dpi is to just multiply them together. So a 3 sens at 800 dpi is about the same as 6 sense at 400 dpi. The smaller the number the less the screen moves compared to how much the mouse moves. If you google you can find a converter that will give you combinations and how many inches a particular combination takes to do a 360. In the end you will need to experiment on your own and see what works for you. I would either slowly work your way down from the default or set your sense really low and then work your way up.

Do this on the practice range and find something that is comfortable. Then play a few matches. Then go back and adjust a little if needed. It might take you awhile. But it helps a lots.

If you get a good deathadder, then it will be great, but for some reason, Razer products tend to break down or come faulty from the factory more often than other manufacturers.

The deathadder also doesn't have as many options as the g502. The g502 has more hotkeys and also has DPI up and down buttons to make it more or less sensitive on the fly.

Also as a heads up, the g502 Proteus Spectrum is almost the same as the g502 Hero. The hero just has a slightly newer sensor which won't be noticeable.

You can get the Proteus Spectrum for $35 (same as deatheadder I think) on Amazon right now which is a steal:

Here's a list of parts that will run all those applications while kicking ass and taking names... and they also cost $1150 instead of $1700 USD. Keep in mind if you're going to use this as a starting point I haven't done any research into many of those specific components and you should give them all a google search yourself before buying any of them if you plan to use this list. That said, the WD Blue drives and the Hyper 212 evo cooler are both solid. The 1060 I'm unsure about (AMD may have a better offer out now with the 590? IDK if that's sort of meant to be between the 1060 and 1070 sort of thing?).

Does your mom need an optical drive? I'm saying probably no and if she does, get an external one that can be used with whatever computer you want in the future.

As /u/Surpex mentioned, you definitely don't need four 256GB M.2 drives, that is just dumb. Put the OS and applications on the one 500GB one and stick your documents on the 1TB drive (AND BACK IT UP). I personally don't care about the files on my 512 GB SSD because they're all program files. Anything important goes over to my 1TB WD Blue and then gets duplicated to a second internal WD Blue and also backed up to another drive every once and a while.

While it may seem too "gamery" the Logitech G502 is the most comfortable mouse I've ever used. It performs well and I like it, would recommend.

DON'T INSTALL MCAFEE. All it will do is slow down your machine and provide little benefit (if any) over Windows Defender. Don't install or run programs from un-trusted sources and you're good. McAfee is a pile of garbage.

I don't think performance should decrease over time (some applications may require stronger specs, but with this CPU you should have plenty of room for that).

Not sure, there are plenty of gaming mice around. I would maybe consider something like this one.

u/Justinthegame38 · 2 pointsr/keyboards

Well, even though I don't play much computer games aside from CS:GO and Osu, this is what my response to your question.

The Logitech G213 Keyboard is, in my opinion, very good for the price. As it is a cross between Mechanical and Membrane, and from my research, has something called Rubber Dome switches, which apparently keycaps for it is hard to find.

From what I have so far, it is a great keyboard for RGB lighting, and of course, budget price for a gaming keyboard. Which is also a great keyboard for in and outside of school (and a great keyboard for getting into competitive gaming). Along with your concerns, is great for typing. So a great keyboard for someone on a budget, as I said before. It is also why it's in the "Prodigy" line.

As for the logitech G403 mouse, it's pretty good, but for about $4 more, you can get a MUCH better mouse in the form of the Logitech G502 Proteous Spectrum, which on Amazon currently, is $4 more than the G403 "Prodigy" Mouse.

Though, if you need to have a review of the g403 mouse, here's mine. Basically, it's like any mouse, but with side buttons, RGB, and a DPI Scaling up to 12,000. While the the Logitech g502 has more buttons with better weight customization and a different build, making it either more comfortable or irritating. I suggest you try them out before buying, because it really matters on the person for a mouse, as there's TONS of different mice and grips.

As such, I hope you find the right mouse and keyboard for you.

But for my suggestions, here are mine. I haven't used them, but it's what I have seen.

Best bet would probably be an MXMaster, also by Logitech. Cheapest on Amazon is around $70 though. Has a couple extra buttons.

For something more gaming oriented, there's the G602. Similar feel as the G502 mentioned below and runs around $40-50.

For $50~, you should also seriously consider a wired mouse like a G502. It has the same sensor as the G900 and a handful of extra buttons.

u/cheif_Atwood · 2 pointsr/OverwatchUniversity

Well, in general wireless mice aren't ideal for gaming, however some wireless mice are marketed as gaming mice; On those I can't comment. I would recommend getting a wired mouse with an optical sensor. u/Ronin6337 · 2 pointsr/Overwatch

I use the Logitech G502 which probably doesn't look as "professional" as you'd like but it definitely doesn't look like a spacehip. The only issue I have with it is that the button to change the dpi setting is right next to the left click button so you'll probably be changing the dpi constantly. I fixed that by putting only one dpi setting per profile and just change the profile as needed. It is a little pricey but I think it's worth the price.
My first mouse I bought was the Razer Imperator which is probably more of the look you're going for.
I would also suggest not getting a mouse just because it has high dpi, since you'll probably never go up that high anyways.

&gt;I've been trying to avoid cable clutter on my desk but I wanna know if I should just go with a Logitech G502 which is half the price?

Two things: First, if cost is any kind of concern, do not think about the G900/403/603/703/903. Second, you can alleviate cable clutter with velcro tying the excess and getting a mouse bungee like the Zowie Camade.

The PowerPlay thing is particularly ridiculous, as you're literally paying 100$ for a more convenient charging station. And if your goal was to get rid of cable clutter, the PowerPlay literally has a cable going to it, so the sum is still 1 cable on your desk, just now it's not attached to your mouse.

For reference:

  • G502 is 40$
  • G900 is 113$.
  • G903 and the mousepad comes to 227$ total.

Is paying almost 3 times as much worth a good wireless experience? I don't think so. Is paying more than 6 times as much worth the best wireless experience you can have? I don't think so. Particularly, if you're just looking to reduce the amount of cables on your desk, the PowerPlay lineup does nothing for that, as the mousepad requires a cable: It literally just shifts the cable from the mouse to the pad.

You're just in luck, with black Friday around the corner there are a lot of sales going on for this kind of stuff. I'll tell you about mice since I've been looking at it myself recently.

Cheap gaming mouse
This was my first gaming mouse and is amazing value. I ordered it, used it for myself for 2 years, then gave it to a friend, he used it for 2 years. I saw it yesterday and it still seems to be in good working condition.

Higher quality gaming mouse on sale
This is a great mouse and the one I'm currently using now. Has way more features, and has competition in mind, in fact I've actually seen it listed as being used by professional gamers in several games. I can't vouch for longevity as I've owned it for less than a month now, but it is almost 50% off for black Friday.

Between these or whatever other one you choose I'm sure he will be very happy with it. Hope this helps!

u/Captainjim17 · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

It's just an all round nice mouse, great value for money, plenty of programmable buttons on the sides, adjustable DPI right on the mouse right up to 12000 (which is really unplayable, but whatever) has adjustable weight, three profiles, full macro support, has an on the fly adjustable DPI sniper button, Logitech has outstanding support and warranty, Logitech's software is very good. All pretty much reason's why it's great, or you can just go over to /r/G502masterrace and they will tell you how good it is.

Just Checked Amazon and its 45 bucks https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Proteus-Spectrum-Tunable-Shifting/dp/B019OB663A

You won't get a better mouse for that price. Heck you won't get a better mouse full stop.

There probably are existing posts for gaming mice. I use a Logitech G502 and am a big fan of all Logitech products. There are many good mice out there, but you should prob spend $50+ MSRP for a good one.

I have a Logitech G502 and I use it mainly for CS:GO and GTAV, and it works great. It's also RGB, but I have the older model without the RGB, so I have no idea how they compare.

Well google express coupons are gone (like the 10% ones) and those are only first time users. This deal isn't that bad, but there is the G502: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019OB663A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_y1clDb5JZVWKX

You didn't give a budget so I'll send you one.

Logitech G502 - https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Spectrum-Shifting-Personalized-Programmable/dp/B019OB663A/ is RGB but reliable and one of the best mice out there.

Logitech G203 - https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Prodigy-Wired-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B01M26YUKO/

Logitech G300 - https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-G300s-Optical-Ambidextrous-Gaming/dp/B00RH6R7C4

I think Logi makes the best mice and they have plenty of options at many price points. They love their RGB though.

Ducky Secret - Bulky, overpriced, no bells or whistles mouse. I love it.

u/khamir-ubitch · 2 pointsr/tf2

I've seen that one, and that's a bit much (for me).

I used a Logitech G700S for a long time which had quite a few buttons, but nothing like the MMO one you linked to. While there were quite a few buttons, they were very easy to differentiate. There were four thumb buttons and 5 "top" buttons along with the mouse wheel (left, right and "click"). HERE is a write-up I did on my mouse settings for that mouse.

I've since switched to a Logitech G502. It's got a few less buttons and is a bit smaller, but is a great mouse with most of the same features.

Any new mouse you get that has a different shape and mouse buttons is going to take getting used to. Once you do though, it makes a WORLD of difference.

u/reddited_bullets · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

go play TF2 with M+KB for a few hours, you'll get it. i just switched to pc 6 months ago, and while it was awkrawrd at first, I got the hang of it. I now, am normally in the top 10-15 players in battlefield 1 64 man conquest. the only thing I miss is the rumble when you shoot and such, and pressure sensitive movements (walking slow for example), I play 3rd person games, racing games, platformers, etc. with a Wired X1 controller.... but I dont think I can ever again play a FPS game, SP or MP, without feeling kinda OCD about the lack of sensitivity in the sticks on controllers.

EDIT: Get you one of these, program all the buttons. there is a DPI shift key on the thumb to lower sensitivity significantly on the fly to line up those long snipes, then release and I can ADS with sniper scope with faster sensitivity to acquire next target, then click and hold DPI shift button again to line up the shot, rinse and repeat. I even use it with semi-auto rifles with acog scopes. of course if you dont play FPS games, then none of that even matters, cause almost every other non FPS or RTS game is played better with a controller.

Camelcamelcamel can give you an idea of how fast they move on amazon. Searching around for a "how to" on reading and interpreting the data on there would be easier than me typing it out here but basicly if you click on sales rank, a chart like this: https://camelcamelcamel.com/APC-Propellers-LP09060-Sport-Propeller/product/B0006N6JDS?active=sales_rank means units sell rarely, this: https://camelcamelcamel.com/SU-Motor-24mm-F32-6T-HAZS/product/B0027WBEM2?active=sales_rank is a more regular seller (a few to a dozen or so units a year), and this: https://camelcamelcamel.com/Logitech-Proteus-Spectrum-Tunable-Gaming/product/B019OB663A?active=sales_rank sells quite often.

The bag of random stuff looks assorted like mostly plastic (nylon?) fittings of some kind. I'd take some pictures of them against a darker background and list them on ebay as "Assorted plastic fittings" or something like that, maybe put the material if you can tell for sure what it is (most likely nylon) and some keywords (threaded, metric or SAE or pipe threads, maybe sizes, if you can determine any of that) They also might have some kind of part numbers molded into them that could be helpful.

I personally don't own these, but I have friends that do and have heard great things about them. Of course, there is no "best" keyboard or mouse, it's all about what feels best for you. u/daddyguac · 1 pointr/Overwatch

So I can’t tell if this specific problem is because of Overwatch or my mouse/keyboard, but I’m leaning towards that it’s on Overwatch’s end.

This bug regards to specifically Reinhardt, Torbjörn, and Mercy.

The mouse I use is the Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum and the keyboard is just any old, regular Logitech keyboard, not a mechanical.

Whenever I play Mercy or Torb, I’m not able to switch weapons (randomly and often too). Even when I press the 1/2 buttons on my keyboard, it switches and goes back to the weapon I was using previously. For example, if I switched to the hammer to fix my turret and wanted to go back to my gun, I would have to constantly scroll or press for a good 10 times before it actually changes. I’ve tried plugging the mouse into a different USB port and updating it, and the computer is up to date as well. I only have this problem with Overwatch. Another problem is that I have a sensitivity button on my mouse and all of a sudden, it’s connected to the “thanks” voice line. Due to this, I’m not able to change my sensitivity and I don’t know how to fix it.

As for Reinhardt, whenever I charge into an enemy or ult, I completely do a 180 turn and then charge or ult. This happens 95% of the time I play him. I don’t jolt my mouse or anything and I make sure I’m facing the right way. Is it because my sensitivity’s too high or does anyone else have this problem?

u/Owlikat · 1 pointr/DestinyTheGame

I got a Logitech G502, and it's really awesome. Love the extra buttons that are also never in the way, and Logitech is generally quite reliable in my experience, much moreso than Razer has been, too.

I doubt I'll rebind much aside from if crouch is on C or CTRL, though. I looked at the keymap a while ago, but I remember thinking not much looked like it needed changing; it seemed to have very few buttons overall, so it should be very easy to bind, instead of an MMO that has so many buttons.

mechanical keyboards are luxury to me if you want a decent gaming keyboard without spending too much money i would go for the G105 keyboard by Logitech. I use it and its been responsive without any problems, for just around 40$

As for the mouse it is very important if you play FPS games that require presicion like Counter Strike, Overwatch, etc.

Im using the G502 and it is very durable and ergonomic. Doesnt feel cheap and has many buttons that you can utilize, although that may be a deal breaker for most people. I like having the option to use buttons when i need to, which i quite often do. This is a mouse i would bitch at my friend to buy because its really good.

For the mouse I would recommend the Logitech Proteus Spectrum G502 that goes around for 52$ on Amazon. This mouse is an excellent gaming mouse. Edit: I somehow can't seem to find the G-Master being sold on American websites, weird.

u/chouetteonair · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

/r/mousereview can give you some more in-depth info, but there's a lot of options for high end mice. Sensor, shape, and extra buttons are the easiest to find differences between mice. RocketJumpNinja also has a lot of good info.

Currently Logitech (403/502) is really hyped along with Steelseries (release of the Rival and Sensei 310), but find something that fits you physically and mentally. Note: the G502 is 120g when empty, and you can find mice in the 80-90 range.

I'm gonna plug the MM520 as well for no good reason (because it's not even out yet and Cooler Master is infamous for QC issues on their mice). The ergonomic shell on the Xornet is amazing for me though.

I second this. The price is a bit much for the G900 when there are still much cheaper alternatives.

If you're interested, I've done an in-depth review on the G502. Keep in mind I have affiliate links in here.

Here's a non-affiliate link for the G502 if that makes you uncomfortable.

&gt;I kinda wish they would make a g502 lightweight version.

That would be awesome. I used the g502 before. It's awesome but I personally like using a lighter mouse for FPS games since I pick my mouse up a lot.

u/wolfe_85 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I have a G710+ keyboard and a Proteus Specrum mouse. I absolutely love both of them. I used to have a cheap rubber keyboard and another cheap, knockoff mouse. The mouse has made navigation, in games and on the homepage, incredibly easy. I have the extra mouse buttons set up for volume control and Spotify control.

The noisiness of the keyboard is something I can see, but to me the tactile sensation of typing has made gaming and typing much much better, and I've grown accustomed to the sound.

But that's not to say that you're inferior or not part of the PCMR for using non gaming, non RGB gear. The mouse has a small icon with RGB, and the keyboard is only backlit. I think it would glaring and annoying to have a super fancy RGB keyboard, and it would be way to expensive.

u/Samurai_TwoSeven · 1 pointr/buildapc

My personal favorite keyboard would have to be the Corsair K65/K70/K95. The only difference being 10 key-less/standard/extended with macros.

If those are a bit out of your price range, then the Corsair Strafe would be a slightly more affordable option.

As for mice, that is entirely up to you. My favorite is my Roccat Kone Pure. However, some people are more in favor of the Logitech G502

ok,so assuming your $40 budget goes either way, IMO the mouse is more important, so I would get the $30 logitech g203 prodigy, it's nothing special but it's sensor is great and it will last you a long time, for a keyboard you can get really anything wired, as long as you can get used to it, this amazonbasics one comes with a mouse for 15 bucks, you can get the keyboard alone but that takes 3-5 months to ship so you can throw that mouse on a laptop or something. the keyboard wont be the greatest experience, but you don't have anything better now. alternatively, if the input lag is only on the mouse and the keyboard is fine, then you could splurge on the g502 proteus spectrum, an rgb mouse (for right handed people only!) that I can proudly and unironically say is the greatest mouse of all time.

u/trainiac12 · 1 pointr/computers

TBH, unless you're playing at a very high level, literally anything will do. Because I use my computer for basically everything in my life (I'm a CS Major at Uni) I've put a little more money into my keyboard than I'd recommend for basically anyone. You'd be fine with a basic membrane keyboard/laser mouse.

I'm personally running a corsair k70 keyboard with brown switches and a logitech g502 mouse, with Corsair VOID's as my headset. As much as I love my keyboard, mouse, and headset, let me say this in no uncertain terms: There is absolutely no reason to spend 250 dollars out the gate on peripherals. A lot of local stores (best buy I know has a couple) have little shelves in the gaming peripherals aisle where you can try things out. But you could seriously just use the standard dell membrane keyboard and laser mouse. I know that's not the answer you're looking for, but I seriously recommend just getting your basic office keyboard/a decently comfortable mouse

Suffer through casual and completely switch to pc for a week or so. Doesn’t take that long to learn key placements, but your aim will be shitty for a couple of months. Try and get a mouse with switchable DPI (mine is the Logitech Proteus G502 and it switches from 400-3200 .

u/BandidTwitch · 1 pointr/buildapc

Well there's a whole bunch of stuff on mechanical keyboards at r/mechanicalkeyboards but if you're looking to buy something cheap and usable this aukey is only 40 bucks and has rgb lights and mechanical switches that should last a long time. I've had this keyboard before and it wasn't bad and didn't feel cheap but there is a difference between the switches in the aukey and the more premium cherry switches. For the mouse all I can recommend is something from the name brands razer deathadder is what i have and has work perfectly the last 3 years i've had it. otherwise Logitech g502 is a huge fan favorite and at 35 bucks is a steal, or Corsair M65 is a nice option but out of the 3 I've said with the logitech on sale I'd get that one.

Additional Details: I am specifically looking for something to replace my favorite mice of all time, the Logitech LX3 and LX7. Both of them have the same shape, but the LX7 is wireless. Neither have been produced in about ten years, and I can't seem to find anything with a comparable shape. They have a distinctive "hourglass" shape with a deep "ledge" on the bottom, so I can easily pick up the mouse with just three fingers. I have never used another mouse as comfortable as this. I've tried a number of other mice that don't do it for me, including the [Logitech G502](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019OB663A/), G300s, and M510.

I mostly play FPS games, and I'm simply looking for a modern mouse with a similar shape. Until I do find one I may have to keep finding used LX3's on ebay. I'm hoping someone else has found something like it.

Logitech G502 is highly praised in this sub and I'm a firm believer.

u/AltRightCyberBully · 1 pointr/SiegeAcademy

I have my operator gadgets on my side buttons, I have two mice, but use a Logitech g502 usually which has all sorts of extra buttons and useless lights on it. Obviously, this is a very advanced gaming accessory that's really not necessary but depending on whatever it is you're using you might have side buttons as well.

To explain sensitivity, your sensitivity is really important in how you play. Generally speaking low is good as it makes your aim more consistent. If you accidentally move your hand a half centimetre it's not a big problem on lower sens, where as on higher that will make you miss a headshot. If you have an extremely steady hand and incredible reflexes its fine, but that's extremely few people. I have a friend who plays on 2600 DPI at 25-25 in game and man, watching him try to hit a headshot is... painful sometimes. Even the slighest adjustment can send him flying past their head, trying to keep on target is basically impossible for him. On the other hand if you play really really low you can't move fast enough to react in time and it becomes very painful to try turn around to get someone to the sides of you.

There's a fantastic graph that shows pro CSGO player sensitivities sorted from highest to lowest. It measures in 360 x Xcm, which means how many centimetres you have to move your mouse to do a 360 turn in game. As you can see the average is around 35cm of movement, which is pretty much ideal for most games.

The difference between CSGO and Rainbow is that you can't ADS (aim down sights) in CSGO meaning you need to have a good all round sensitivity. In rainbow your ADS sensitivity is a percentage of your regular, at 83 you will move exactly the same as fast both scoped and unscoped. At default its 40% of your sensitivity. People who play on high sentivity will usually play at low ADS sens to gain back control and percision, whereas those on lower will turn it up to retain speed. I play at 60 ADS since whereas my high sens friends tend to play on 15-20.

Now this 360 x 35cm number isn't perfect or anything, it very much depends on your playstyle and experience what you use. I play very low at 360 x 45cm since I play slowly and position well while fragging. A good friend of mine who plays highly aggressive plays on 360 x 20cm, although I do play lower sens than your average person. Basically what I'm getting at here is a steady and consistent aim beats a fast flicky one pretty much any day.

DPI is also a bit of a pointless meme, it refers to how many dots (arbitary units) per sqaure inch your mouse's otical sensor can pick up. A mouse at 400dpi will sense 400 "movements" if you move 1 inch, where as at 12,000 DPI like mine can go to 12,000 "movements" per inch. Higher DPI makes your aim smoother and able to be more precise, but also faster. At double your current DPI your mouse will pick up twice as much movement in the same space.

You shouldn't just turn your DPI to max either. My mouse can go to 12,000 dpi but I never go above 2400, and even then I usually leave it on 1200. Almost all of those CSGO pros were on 400dpi for example, which is honestly extremely low.

This guide is less telling you WHAT to do but rather giving you an idea of the kind of things that are good.

Was in this same situation a few weeks ago. I have large hands and have enjoyed the XTD Optical for about four years (precursor to the EMP).

Just made the jump to a Logitech Proteus Spectrum and I've honestly been much happier with it so far. The mouse is a very similar size, offers more customization and weighs less. That said, it does come with a bunch of weights if you'd like it to resemble the EMP.

As much as I like Roccat products, I'm starting to question whether the price tag is really worth it. Spectrum set me back $50 USD, XTD cost me $80 back when it came out. So far, I really haven't seen any clear advantages to my XTD over this new mouse.

u/xxXTinyHippoXxx · 1 pointr/PcBuild

Don't sell yourself so short on peripherals, you can tell the difference between really cheap mice and keyboards and moderately priced ones. You don't have to go all out and spend 200 on a mouse and keyboard, but there's definitely options way better for 100 bucks all together. You'll see difference in build quality, design, ergonomics, durability, and reliability.

Mice:

  • Logitech G502 $35
  • Logitech G203 $25
  • Logitech G403 $30
  • Razer DeathAdder $45
  • I personally have the Razer Basilisk $55, and I think its the best mouse I've ever owned. I personally like the sensitivity toggle on the side as well as the ergonomics. Additionally I like the Razer suit because you can customize the appearance, sensitivities, and macros for your peripherals and it saves to a online profile, so my profiles and appearances can be the same on my laptop and desktop.

    Keyboards:

  • I really like Corsair and Razer keyboards. I definitely think getting a keyboard with mechanical switches is worth it, the responsiveness, feel, and durability is way higher than their membrane/rubber dome counterparts. Some people don't like the clack of a mechanical, but manufacturers have started offering quiet/silent switch options.
  • You can make your own choice tho and here are a bunch of options under 50 and under 100
u/Spritecius · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I'd recommend Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum, it's on the higher end of your budget but I've been using the Proteus Core (which this mouse was based on but seems to be more expensive) for about a year and I love it. Reviews seem to point at it being awesome too.

Not sure about the compatibility with Photoshop, but the side tilting scroll wheel can be useful and can be found on the Razer Mamba http://www.amazon.com/dp/B013LDTYI6?psc=1 (I own the cheaper wired version) and the Logitech G502 http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Proteus-Spectrum-Tunable-910-004615/dp/B019OB663A/ref=sr_1_2?s=videogames&amp;amp;ie=UTF8&amp;amp;qid=1463148136&amp;amp;sr=1-2&amp;amp;keywords=logitech+g502. The main thing that turned me off from the 602 was too many thumb buttons. At least with, say, the Razer Naga Hex is that they're arranged around the thumb rather than all together.

I just ordered myself a G502. My G9x is -still- working however.

It's on sale for 60$ on Amazon right now.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019OB663A/ref=pd_luc_rh_wl_01_02_t_img_lh?_encoding=UTF8&amp;amp;psc=1

My G9x still works good, earlier this year I replaced the feet...but I bought this one in 2009 and wanted to try something "new", this was a good price, and I got 10$ due to Prime Day Promotion, so 50$.

I ended up buying it after watching Linus's video on it, and said he was thinking of replacing HIS G9x with it, though it's not marketed as a G9x successor, he felt it was, and googling shows many do.

It's not good for the Claw Grip(FPS), but I'm willing to give it a shot myself.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nl25wpMoEtY

Though I have heard alot of people saying the M45 by Corsair is like the G9x.

https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Raptor-M45-5000-Optical-Sensor/dp/B00IDWFN4U

Certainly similar.

I dunno, I like Logitech though, and every review claims the Logitech G502 has an INCREDIBLE Optical sensor, the best in the HISTORY of Mice, not just marketing speak, but people doing workroom tests say this mouse has NO Acceleration, no dead zone, and handles lift-off better than any they've even seen. So I am willing to give it a shot for sure.

I got a G700s a few years ago from Logitech as a replacement for a G9x that was having issues. It was big and felt nice, but the cord was stuff and hard to manage, even with buying custom ones, and in the end I went back to my G9x after a few months. So basically I've been using a G9x as my mouse since 2009. I think...it's time for something new.

Hell, I saw even used G9x sell on eBay for 70$! And I have mine replaced with new feet and all the accessories, so if I end up liking the G502...I might go that route...though parting with my G9x...I don't know.

I just bought a [g502 proteus spectrum] (http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Proteus-Spectrum-Tunable-910-004615/dp/B019OB663A?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;keywords=g502%20proteus%20spectrum&amp;amp;qid=1465437287&amp;amp;ref_=sr_1_1&amp;amp;sr=8-1) and I'm really enjoying it so far. It definitely is a little pricey and you could maybe get a razer which a lot of people seem like for cheaper, but I was not really worrried about the money. It has adjustable weight, rbg coloring (only on 2 spots which are sadly not really noticable while you have your hand on the mouse), and dpi settings. Custom keybindings as well. The scroll wheel has 2 settings (one to turn it into a jet engine and one to let it scroll one click at a time). Overall I really enjoy the mouse, like I said. It looks sick with my [K70 RGB] (http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Gaming-Mechanical-Keyboard-Backlit/dp/B014W1YUAS?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;psc=1&amp;amp;redirect=true&amp;amp;ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00), feels nice, and I have not had any problems with it so far.

Here's a few choices.

Mionix Castor

Generally regarded as the best mouse in terms of quality, great for FPS (as it's light), although only has 2 additional buttons. That, combined with a flawless sensor and a nice look.

Corsair M65 Pro

From what I've heard it's solid but it's a little small, great sensor, overall nice looking.

Corsair Sabre

Cheap, flawless sensor, comfortable (a little small) and has 5 additional buttons.

Zowie ZA13

From what I've heard it's a great, basic mouse, a little pricey for so few features though.

There's also the G502, I don't really like it solely due to the weight, the RGB model is slightly lighter but IMO it's too heavy for relatively low DPI.

u/my__name__is · 1 pointr/pcgaming

I am guessing you are using a standard mouse to play games. When I was first getting into PC gaming, I used to pick up my mouse too. That's until I discovered what mouse DPI is. I got myself a gaming mouse. It has adjustable DPI with four levels that I can cycle through by pressing a button on the mouse. They don't come cheap, here is an example of a popular one that's good value for your money. As you see in the description it has 5 DPI settings that go up to 12000. I doubt you'll need anything that high, and you might not need all the programmable buttons either. You can probably find a more basic model and shave off $20 or so. I would strongly recommend going with a trusted, highly reviewed brand. A mouse gets a lot of action and these little known companies coming up with cheap mice with high DPI just do not last.

As the article I linked you to says, there are a lot of conflicting opinions on what is best for shooter games. Some people will say that a low DPI is best as it helps you aim better. Having gotten used to my one, I feel that that's a crutch. I think it would be much better for you to get used to a sensitive mouse than getting used to throwing your mouse all over the table to turn around. Of course you could just try raising the sensetivity up, but as the article explains it:
&gt;For example, let’s say you have a very cheap mouse with low DPI and you crank up the sensitivity. If you tried to aim at small targets, you’ll see the mouse cursor jump around as you move it. The mouse hardware isn’t as sensitive, so it doesn’t detect the smaller movements. Your operating system just compensates by moving your cursor farther when it does detect a movement, so the movement isn’t as smooth.

It will still be a learning process. It will feel very sensitive to you at first. But the good thing is, you control the DPI levels. You can raise it gradually, only by 200-300 DPI at a time. And once you get used to it, you can push it further. You'll still be able to keep good aim, and you'll be able to turn with a simple movement without picking it up.

u/BarackObongma · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Xim Apex is what you need to play kB/m https://www.amazon.com/XIM-Apex-Keyboard-Mouse-Adapter/dp/B079SS1CCR

And a good mouse like the g502

https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Spectrum-Shifting-Personalized-Programmable/dp/B019OB663A

You can map all your buttons and it’s not cheating . Fortnite supports keyboard Ken Xbox and ps4 just plug in a normal
Keyboard and see for your self . But you need the adapter to do it properly .

Logitech G502

Switched to it from something similar you were using. Once you get used to the heavier mouse, it's amazing.

On sale $75 CAD Amazon

The G502 Spectrum is still on sale for just a little more than it was a few days back. Definitely an equal value proposition to the G Pro.

A decent pair of headphones for $25 if he doesn't already have some.

A better than most headset configuration (these headphones $16 + this mic $30) if he's got a "gaming" headset

A slightly heavy adjustable-weight mouse for $45

The mouse my GF bought me for $58

A nice clicky keyboard between $27 (no backlight) and $43 (rgb backlight)

Or as my GF did, you can demand that he build you a computer so you can play together! (added benefit of him getting to build something new which is my second favorite part)

They do. There are tons of options for non gamer mechanical keyboards from the pok3r to the plan non led Ducky's if you prefer full-size. Even the coolermaster ones are fairly subtle. Same goes for mice. This is without a doubt the best mouse I've even owned. Just turn the led off, or set it to white...
