edit: Are there any of these that I would have to be put to death for not ordering? :D I have this hole in my pocket you see...

edit2: swapped ending price and discount on G710+ - would have been a much better deal though...

edit3: prices are beginning to rise back to normal/sell out. Sad days.

edit4: Amazon is apparently going to try to get re-stocking done throughout the day to allow more purchases at the sale price. If it's out of stock when you look the first time, check again in a while. I'll try to keep this list up-to-date as best I can.

edit5: Even better, for me anyway. Looks as if if they are going to stop re-stocking the items, they are completely removing the item from the page I linked. If you see a strike-throughd item above, it WAS here, now it's gone Johnson. Again, will update as I can.

edit6: Nope. Bastards are re-adding items to the page... grumble grumble... :D

edit7: I decided to dig a little bit, and turns out, if you follow my links in this post rather than only relying on just the deal page itself, they are updated more frequently and accurately. So, use these links in conjunction to the thread title, and you may very well benefit! Still updating, sleepy times soon though... Maybe...

edit8: That's all, she wrote! Some of the items prices are retaining their sale value as of this last edit, so, maybe it'll be a new list price for them, who knows, but I am marking the sale as over, since the link is now officially pointed into oblivion.. Thanks for the wonderful day of sales and discussions, and for those of you who got some new equipment, congratulations! Hope you enjoy them!

If he doesn't have one already, a mechanical keyboard would be a great gift. They can be a bit pricey, but you can get one for ~100 dollars that is pretty decent; it'll making typing a much nicer experience. Specifically, I'd look for any keyboard which has "Cherry MX Brown" or "Cherry MX Blue" switches. The key switch determines how the keyboard feels, and how loud it is.

I have blues at home and browns for my keyboard at work and both options are solid. I prefer blues myself but they are loud, Browns feel similar but they don't have an audible click so they are much quieter.

Be wary of "like-mechanical" keyboard, that are basically just expensive membrane keyboard that try and mimic the mechanical feel.

Here are two pretty good options to get you started:

u/SirWaldenIII · 11 pointsr/BuyItForLife

If you're gonna go mechanical the sweet spot is 120 I'd say. You won't get anything good for under 80.

this is pretty good, brown switches and 90 dollars, right now.

u/MikeTSTL · 10 pointsr/AdviceAnimals

I paid $160 for mine (has since dropped in price) Logitech G710+. Gamers pay money for good stuff.

u/Bebaion · 8 pointsr/bapcsalescanada

Currently $90 new on Amazon.ca w/ free shipping. Which coincidentally I just received today. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B009C98NPY/

u/DntMessWitRohan · 6 pointsr/bapcsalescanada

For a mere $5 more, you don't have to deal with shipping (through Amazon): https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B009C98NPY/?tag=pcp0f-20

u/BX1959 · 5 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Amazon reviews can be a good indicator. Out of 1,539 reviews (which is a lot for a mechanical keyboard), it gets 4.3 out of 5 stars. 65% are 5 stars and 15% are 4 stars. You may still want to check out the 1-star and 2-star reviews to see if any glaring problems come up. $86.50 seems like a good price for a board with Cherry browns. Link

The keeb in your ebay link is "Manufacturer refurbished: An item that has been professionally restored to working order by a manufacturer or manufacturer-approved vendor. This means the product has been inspected, cleaned, and repaired to meet manufacturer specifications and is in excellent condition. This item may or may not be in the original packaging. See the seller’s listing for full details." $58 seems like a great price if you trust the refurbishing process.

u/day1patch · 4 pointsr/flashlight

What a beginner, I have a G710+, it's legal in all states.

u/Pwnerz64 · 4 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Keyboards under $100, probably a [cm storm quickfire rapid] (http://www.amazon.com/Storm-QuickFire-Rapid-Tenkeyless-Mechanical/dp/B007VDLVD4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1420395524&sr=8-3&keywords=cm+storm)

If you have a little more, maybe a logitech g710, das keyboards, ducky keyboards, or WASD keyboards, where you can customize the keycaps and the case.

It looks like a Logitech G710+ judging by the orange macros. You can find it here

u/SiSkEr · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

It's Logitech G710+ with cherry mx brown. Really nice stuff.

u/whomad1215 · 3 pointsr/mildlyinfuriating

Corsair Vengeance K95. I have the K90 (1st generation) and it's amazing. I personally prefer reds/blacks over blues/browns though, which influenced my decision.

Also the Logitech G710+.

u/tonytroz · 3 pointsr/gaming

Logitech G710+. They run sales on it in the $100-110 range usually. A little pricey but I love mine since it integrates with the G series software that I already use for my mouse and headset. It doesn't have the LCD screen that the former G series keyboards and has less G keys but being mechanical more than makes up for that.

I would highly recommend finding an electronics store that has mechanical keyboards available to try though. The Cherry MX switch colors do drastically change the feel. Generally people prefer Red for gaming and Blue for typing, but the Browns are a good balance of both and also include dampeners to reduce the noise (mechanical keyboards can be VERY loud). Once you go mechanical you'll never go back though!

u/GiantTreeLP · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I can recommend the Logitech G710+.

It's currently on discount on Amazon ($103.99)
It has Cherry MX Browns and doesn't really look shitty.
It has 6 G-keys to the left and white backlight (no RGB shenanigans), so it's easy at night, not too loud and still offers some extra functionality without distorting the looks.

u/Levanok · 3 pointsr/rage

It was $80 for a logitech g710+, which retails for 138 on amazon right now. (http://www.amazon.ca/Logitech-Mechanical-Keyboard-Tactile-High-Speed/dp/B009C98NPY)

I knew that the corsair k70 RGB was coming out but i didn't particularly care about being able to change the color of the backlighting. I was actually looking at another craigslist posting which was selling a corsair k70 for $100, but the seller told me he was expecting to sell it later in the week. He texted me again on sunday asking if i was interested. I had to refuse since i had already arranged a meeting for the logitech g710+(or so i had thought). An hour or so after i had turned the corsair k70 seller away, i receive the messages saying the logitech had been sold. That was the primary reason why i was ticked off, when I was being courteous enough not to cancel a pre-arranged meeting, only to be shafted in return.

Still, all's well that ends well, i contacted the corsair seller as quickly as i could and managed to seal the deal the next day. So here i am typing on my first mechanical keyboard that looks much better than the logitech g710+ anyways.

u/Pyroraptor · 3 pointsr/letsplay

Okay a few things to remember.

-Your mic has a cardioid polar pattern also know as unidirectional. Anyhting in that region will get picked up. So if you keep your keyboard and mouse behind the mic it will get picked up less.

  • The optimal placement is a pop filter 2" away from the mic and your mouth 6-8" away from the filter. To measure this spread out your hand as far as it will go and put your thump on your moutha nd your pinky on the pop filter.

  • Enable a noise gate to eliminate any sounds under a specific threshold.

  • You can put a towel over your hands to dampen the noise from your keyboard and mouse. This can get hot/annoying though.

  • Get a quiter keyboard or mouse to play with. I use a Logitech G710+ because it has Cherry MX Brown keyswitches and o-rings to dampen sound.

  • Get a pop filter.

  • You can use a de-esser to try an lessen hard S sounds. I've never used one, but that is what they are used for. Also, now that you are aware of the problem, consciously try and limit your hard S sounds. It is hard, but it has worked for me.

  • Make sure you are using the Noise removal, compressor, and Normalizer functions correctly. I also use the EQ. If you use the noise removal to get rid of clicks then you will be removing sound form your voice as well, so be careful.

  • Audacity has a Click Removal tool. Again, never sued it but it is there for you to experiment with.

This is what i use. Its the best keyboard i have ever used.

Holy crap you're right. This Logitec G710 comes out to almost $200 USD. That's insane.

But this one looks like it might be more reasonably priced. Sorry it's not working out for you.

u/PatchSalts · 2 pointsr/buildapcsales

Logitech website says $130. Price history for Amazon says it was only ever $65 once, about a year ago, for a few days. http://camelcamelcamel.com/Logitech-Mechanical-Keyboard-Tactile-High-Speed/product/B009C98NPY

u/UndersizedPotato · 2 pointsr/GlobalOffensive

On Logitech gaming keyboards, there's a row of macro keys that you can assign functions to called the "G" keys. I have one of these keys show the desktop when pressed. However, they are far off to the left so I never press them accidentally during gameplay.

u/harvurr_ · 2 pointsr/AverageBattlestations

Thanks! The keyboard is a Keycool 87 with Logitech G710 keycaps. The cable I’m using is a LINDY Coiled Cable.

u/Talks_To_Cats · 2 pointsr/buildapc

You can't go wrong with a mechanical keyboard. You could go with Logitech for the lower end "quality" keyboards. These are on sale right now and are decent entry level. Having used a membrane (~$50) keyboard for years, I really have to say the extra $20-30 is more than worth it.

Cherry MX Browns (not Blues or Reds) are probably ideal if you type and game, and don't prefer one or the other.

If you insist on a cheapo, then the G105 has treated me well in the past.

New here -- Clicked around to try to figure some of this stuff out but got lost.

I have a few questions:

  1. I have a Noppoo Choco Mini with MX Cherry Red swiches seen here: https://www.amazon.com/Noppoo-84-Technology-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B0091QOCNA?th=1

How good is this keyboard? General rating or comments would be cool. Is Cherry MX Red good for typing long essays/notes? I also have this: https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Mechanical-Keyboard-Tactile-High-Speed/dp/B009C98NPY -- Which I use for gaming/general purpose.

I wanted to start using my noppoo again cause I have a few long essays coming up

  2. I dont particularly like the feel of the standard keys that it comes with and was thinking about swapping them out for new keycaps. What are my options in texture for a full set of keys for this keyboard? Color scheme recommendation or is there any central hub where I can see all of my options?
u/OGluc1f3r · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

>Das might have a backlit full-size board with usb hub

Indeed they do. https://shop.daskeyboard.com/products/das-keyboard-prime-13

I'll hold out to see if there are any other options but at least I know it should exist.

Thanks!

Edit: In case anyone else searches this in the future. The Logitech G710+ fits the bill also.

u/CrustyButtAss · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

I have one. I like it. But I only like it because of the price tag; I make myself like it because of how it costs.

I was one of the people that sped down to fry's electronics on launch day and picked myself a cherry mx red version. I had never used mx red's before, but lately I have been getting into the CS:GO competitive scene and thought I could be in the top 5% if I bought reds. I have no idea why I would think this, but I did.

Now, before I get into the pro's and cons, let me preface this: I've bought 4 mechanical keyboards in the last year: so I'm not a noob with keyboards. I currently own a Quickfire TK, Blackwidow Ultimate 2013, Logitech G710+, and of course, the K70 RGB.
The OG keyboard (and probably my favorite to this day, is the Quickfire TK). It was small, light, never slipped, and always had a very bright backlight (this is important for later). The Blackwidow, also had a gorgeous backlight and this keyboard comes in a close second. Then the last 2 keyboard purchases I've made have since gone down-hill. I figured out I can't live without blue keys. Not reds, not browns, not blacks, hell, not even fucking turquoise.

Now this is probably a personal issue, but I can't live if I am not typing/gaming on blues. While writing this, I HAVE to look down while typing, and it is only on this keyboard. It just feels... weird. Something about blues on my fingers make my "keystrokes" more fluid. So enough with my personal problems with the keyboard, let's get on to the issues everyone has with the keyboard.

Pros:

  • The wristrest. I bought this keyboard almost primarily for that. And I can say, that isnt really is a big deal, and I probably won't buy another keyboard without one.
  • The software; I'm talking about features here. The UI is something different and I'll touch on that later. It really is feature-packed. With the API out there, and the helpful and supportive community, you an literally do anything. Yes, anything.
  • Media controls. I never knew how much I liked/needed them. They are very useful for muting your mic/speakers for when your family comes in and you are in a skype call with your friends. (I mapped mine to mute my mic, not a native feature obviously).

  • I like the brushed aluminum look, it is quite nice.

    Cons:

  • The software; talking about the UI. It is atrocious, but I'm willing to ignore it sense after using it for awhile, it starts to make sense and isn't that terrible.

  • The brightness. I find nobody touches on this, but I guarantee you'll notice it. It seems the LED's are dimmed by 50-75% on purpose. And no, I'm not exaggerating. Now I believe this is because the LED's are mounted within the switch to reduce ESD. However, I would almost want to risk ESD (I've never had a LED be a victim of ESD before), than to have them be less bright. Go pick one up, try it, and you'll automatically notice it on all the colors.

  • No side USB ports / audio ports. Not a huge deal, but I enjoyed them when I was using my black widow.

  • The corsair gaming logo doesn't really bother me, but it might bother you, so, I guess that's a con.

  • The software..again, likes to freeze (pic below). Occasionally, the software won't crash, but the lights will just freeze. Whenever I press a key, it rainbows only that key, and as I'm typing this, a few of my keys are stuck mid-rainbow.

  • I like the brushed aluminum for it's looks, but I don't like how I have to clean it every week or two. I do eat alot at my desk, but I always find hairs, food, and a little bit of coffee stains there. Nothing the keyboard can do about it, and not really a con, but just keep in mind that you will have to clean it alot.

    Conclusion:

The keyboard is feature packed and has potential, although it just isn't there yet. I am very excited for a (hopefully) revision 2.0 of this. Essential, if Corsair came out with a razer blackwidow which had a wrist wrest and slightly tweaked the software, I would buy it. The keyboard currently is $133 on amazon for Cherry Blues. At this price, I would say it's worth it to atleast tinker around with. It is a nice keyboard, and I think I will continue using it, however, once again, it needs work.

If you can pick it up for $133 or less, and you aren't going to spend your money on anything better, atleast give it a try; Maybe you'll like it.

I hope you found this informative and useful :D

/u/fauxsoul already mentioned the Corsair K-series -- and I think that mostly covers them, outside of some of the more knockoff brands. The Media wheel will definitely be the hardest thing to find -- it's just not that common, from what I've seen. A popular solution around these parts seems to be external jog dials -- something like the Belkin Powermate: http://store.griffintechnology.com/powermate

Hope that helps!

Comments:

1. You can always add in more RAM later. You probably won't use more than 8GB though.
2. I like DELL monitors but you can always look for another cheaper one. The DELL is an IPS so it looks pretty.
3. The H80i is really there only if you're looking at overclocking. Otherwise, it's overkill for stock settings.
4. The Windows 8.1 license really brings the price up. If you can find it anywhere for cheaper or you have your own license, that'll help you spending considerably.
5. If you don't necessarily like the case, there are plenty of others out there. I'm not sure what type of case you like so I figured I'd go with the one you mentioned.

u/AClassyBear · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I am getting the Logitech G710+. It is under $100 and I have heard great things about it.

u/altAcctD · 2 pointsr/titanfall

If it helps, the Logitech G710+ seems to be pretty similar in price to this Titanfall one, and it's got mechanical keys. Can't speak to it personally, but it'll probably at least last longer. Looks like there's some decently priced mechanical keys out there these days.

u/tgujay · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Like I said those issues could have been completely fixed now, I never looked more into it because the looks don't appeal to me and I don't use macros. Amazon had it on sale for $95 and free shipping a day or two ago but it looks like it is at $110 now, still has free shipping though.

u/stevenmi89 · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I was in your boat a month ago. I did my research and I wanted a tactile bump so it was either blues or browns for me. I ended up getting the logitech g710+ w/ browns and I will never go back to membrane. It's hard to describe the feeling. Its just so crisp.

Edit My god shipping is fucking expensive jesus

These are just the first 2 that came to mind. There are bound to be cheaper ones out there.

u/iseldomwipe · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

That keyboard is still a very good keyboard for non-gaming. I use it on my Linux machine for coding.

For my primary machine, I use the Logitech G710+. If you like the feel of a mechanical keyboard but hate the obnoxious sounds it makes, this is awesome. It uses the silent brown variant of the cherry mx switches.

If you like the loud clicking sounds of mechanical keyboards, try to find one that uses cherry mx blue switches.

I have no recommendations for non-mechanical gaming keyboards.

u/the_lost_carrot · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I always go with EVGA for a couple of reasons, the main being customer service. They simply have the best, and stand by their products 100%. I will always pay more for quality and a company that wont jerk me around when something isnt right.

Your going to want to get a good tube of thermal compound do some research, there are tons out there and they are mostly the same stuff. Are you planning on overclocking your CPU? If not you dont need the K variant.

Everything else looks pretty good, except that keyboard. Dont get Razer, get a better mechanical keyboard for cheaper. The 'gaming' mechs are all over priced and dont really offer anything that others dont. For instance This is a significantly better keyboard than the chroma, and you dont have to deal with Razer's spotty reliability.

I can agree completely with this man. If you don't mind the orange secondary color on the programmable keys on left side this will be your keyboard for a looooong time (I've had it since 2012 and it hasn't shown any signs of wear and tear).

Seriously I can't recommend this keyboard enough, it's quiet, it's really well made, and to top it off it was Linus's daily work keyboard for a long time (he may still use it but I haven't seen it on some his more recent videos).

u/troddeh · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Amazon has it for the same price as well.

My new work keyboard is a Corsair mechanical. I think it's this model (http://www.corsair.com/en-us/k70-lux-mechanical-gaming-keyboard-red-led-cherry-mx-red-na), but I'd recommend one of their keyboards that don't have a textured spacebar as that's quickly driving me up a wall. The keys themselves are responsive and surprisingly quiet.

The keyboard I've had forever was a basic Microsoft Multimedia keyboard, but if you want something with some more bells and whistles Logitech all the way. My old roommate gave me two G15s when she upgraded to mechanicals, and I've been rocking one ever since. I keep the other in the closet as a backup in case this one ever dies, but I doubt it will. It looks like the spritual successor is the G710 mechanical (http://www.amzn.com/B009C98NPY), with the G105 being a non mechanical, and thus way cheaper variant (http://www.amzn.com/B00BBUCCKO).

I also recommend their mice. The G400 I have at work and the G500s at home have consistently been one of the most comfortable models I've used. It looks like they no longer make those models, but the general shape of it seems to be the current G403 (http://www.amzn.com/B01KUAMCV4) or M500 (http://www.amzn.com/B002B3YCQM).

My gaming keyboard is junk. The WASD keys have all broken off and had to be replaced with an old mechanical keyboard's keys but then last night it started going crazy so I need a new one. I'm very hard on my keyboards and tend to spill things on them / game hard (I don't hit them but apparently when I play rocket league I press very hard on WASD). That said, the only keyboard I've ever had that could take all of my punishment was a mechanical and I loved everything about it except that it lacked a ton of features like media control (volume / play / stop) which I want. Are there any mechanical keyboards out there that have this functionality? Thanks!

u/rebelrob73 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Once you try mechanical, membrane keyboards will feel like shit in comparison, so if that isn't an issue this is a great keyboard that isn't too flashy https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B009C98NPY/ref=mp_s_a_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1504039400&sr=8-10&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=logitech%2Bgaming%2Bkeyboard&th=1&psc=1

u/kschang · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Checked dozens (perhaps over 100 keyboards available, even nonCherry brown equivalents.

You can get a brown keyboard for $80, barely. Rosewill 9000V2 is available in brown right at $80 on Amazon. No backlight, no macro.

You can get backlight if you go with Kailh Browns. Tesoro and such make Kailh Brown gaming boards for about $70 on Amazon. No macro.

You can get macro, and backlight, but no mechanical, by getting "gaming keyboards". Corsair and Logitech have macro capable membrane keyboards for about $30-40.

If you MUST have macro, your best bet is Logitech G710+, $100 on Amazon. Everything you asked for... macro, backlight, cherry brown switch.

u/MrMcPwnz · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

I use this keyboard, the line has been discontinued by Logitech because they wanted to use their own keyswitches. I also love the look of Das Keyboards. Corsair also has some really good offerings. The important thing when it comes to mech keyboards is to get cherry or gateron brand keyswitches.

u/shackelman_unchained · 1 pointr/buildapc

So, I've been trying to find a mechanical keyboard for when my silicone dies, but I'm kinda picky so this might be a bit over specific. Does anybody know of a good mechanical keyboard that has:

  • Media keys (I can live without these if it has the others)
  • 10-key
  • Any switch besides black or red
  • is back light (preferable with blue as an option)
  • Isn't just the generic rectangle shape

I like some character in my keyboards. This is the best I've found so far, and was wondering if anybody knows of something else that fits the bill.

Thanks for any help in advance!
u/based_god_bromeo · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Keeping with the proteus core theme you could go with a logitech g710+ (ten key) with brown switches or blue switches. I got my 710+ with brown switches for $90 on amazon and I really love it. The build quality is real solid. I like the neutral white back light of the keyboard to match any lighting in your case. It's also got 10 macro keys, media keys, and variable lighting settings. I've only ever had to deal with logitech customer support once and it was a pleasant experience. I can't say the same about Corsair, they didn't live up to my expectations.

Do you actually like the clicky noise? The MX browns feel the same as the blues but are quiet. If that sounds of interest to you I'd highly recommend the Logitech G710.

If you are set on the blues, the K70 is a good choice.

WoW! that keyboard is like $300? I would recommend selling that, its not good for RTS Gaming

Why do you use a keyboard thats missing a lot of keys such as: numpad, F1-F12, capslock, and ~ is so far away! you know those are useful keys right?? F1,F2,F3= heroes, F10= menu, F11= ally resources, capslock can be swapped with backspace for easier access, and lets not forget about the arrow <- ^ -> keys which many people like using

pressing FN to access those keys is not useful for competitive gaming! just get a regular keyboard instead of buying a separate numpad... heres some better keyboards that you can actually program and customize yourself

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009C98NPY <--- 6 programmable buttons on left side (logitech #1)

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XSPGL9S <- multiple programmable layouts, side #s & swap-able

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076FTKD6F/?th=1 <-- totally custom layout, programmable, swap-able

you can also buy a mouse with extra buttons, a lot of people use the extra side buttons for hero, TP, tab, etc.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KV1IMMU/ (i also recommend using wired m/kb, no batteries no delay)

Have you read the entire hotkey guide I sent you?? Why havent you setup the inventory on TYGH? its much better than using numpad and can do a lot more too (like I said before, swapping space and ctrl is just one example of what you can do if you setup the other hotkey editor) obviously you dont want to change ctrl but, on a normal keyboard its very useful

you should really just try testing out the inventory on TYGH, at least before buying another keyboard... let me know if you need help setting up AHK for inventory, you are on a Windows PC right?

The razer switches arent that good compared to mx,all that "tactile switches" razer is selling you is bullshit imo, their keyboard aren't that good, the k70 are close to your price range but they have mx speeds, the speeds have less of travel distance compared to the others, you can also look at the logitech g710 allthough that one has mx browns, if you really want mx reds try the CM storm Quickfire. Also here is a youtube video to help you determine the switches you want

My first mk has a volume wheel and it came in handy at work. Check out this (Logitech G710+ Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with Tactile High-Speed Keys - Cherry MX Brown https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009C98NPY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_7TOUzbDRJ6X6C). It’s probably the best kB they make, and I had this with blues for over a year. It’s a great kb but the blues were just too much for my coworkers, so I swapped it out.

u/antigolfboy · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

As a college student you're probably familiar with saving money. Just save up about $100. I suggest the Logitech G710 or G710+. They are exactly the same except the G710+ has orange trim instead of blue and brown switches instead of blue. The difference between the two switches is how loud they are and the force required to actuate the switch. Browns are quieter. You can get either one for $85 on Amazon actually. Definitely worth the money IMO.

The logitech G710+ at amazon.com is $111.20 CAD after conversion, or $132 CAD at amazon.ca.

A few years ago I upgraded to the Logitech G710+ Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with Tactile High-Speed Keys and the SteelSeries Sensei Laser Gaming Mouse in hopes of getting better. Played a bunch of Battlefield 4 on it, was ok. But when I got BF4 on sale for the Xbox later... man it was seriously night and day how much better I was with a controller.

Funny thing is, I'm really good at World of Warcraft PvP with his keyboard mouse set up. But when you think about it, you have sticky target. You don't aim, all you have to do is move around. That helped me figure out what I can't get down in FPS, the combination of moving AND aiming!

I'm a straight up weirdo! Haha.

u/DT_JDI · 1 pointr/bapcsalescanada

This one has brown switches if you prefer. But I would say the Corsair one is better between those two.

u/stewpeed · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I would probably go with the Logitech G710+. It's just under $90 on Amazon right now. Although I'm a Razer user I heard only good things about above mentioned keyboard. But there are plenty of other options out there, especially if you are not looking for a mechanical keyboard.

u/Valyns · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Mechanical-Keyboard-Tactile-High-Speed/dp/B009C98NPY
This G710+ has Brown switches so it's a bit quieter than the majority of Mechanical Keyboards, but still maintains the crisp feeling. I've had mine for a year, and I haven't had any problems.

u/wolfe_85 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I have a G710+ keyboard and a Proteus Specrum mouse. I absolutely love both of them. I used to have a cheap rubber keyboard and another cheap, knockoff mouse. The mouse has made navigation, in games and on the homepage, incredibly easy. I have the extra mouse buttons set up for volume control and Spotify control.

The noisiness of the keyboard is something I can see, but to me the tactile sensation of typing has made gaming and typing much much better, and I've grown accustomed to the sound.

But that's not to say that you're inferior or not part of the PCMR for using non gaming, non RGB gear. The mouse has a small icon with RGB, and the keyboard is only backlit. I think it would glaring and annoying to have a super fancy RGB keyboard, and it would be way to expensive.

u/PeasantDave · 1 pointr/heroesofthestorm

I use a Logitech G710+ and mapped the G2 key (left of `) to RCtl + RAlt (which is my PTT hotkey). This keeps me from fat fingering PTT while typing or opening other commands accidentally.

u/King_of_All_the_Land · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

The only one I can think of is the Logitech G710+, it has exactly everything you listed. The closest I can think of is the Corsair K70, although it doesn't come with brown switches AND blue/white LEDs.

EDIT: Found the Gigabyte Osmium, also has everything you listed, although I know nothing about it. Reviews seem good, whatever looks best to you.

u/evilHamsterzZz · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I have the Corsair K70 [non RGB] with Cherry MX red switches. If I were you I'd get a K70. My friend has the Razer Blackwidow with the custom Razer green switches. He loves it.

Before you buy a mechanical keyboard tho. You really need to try out each switch. You could either buy one of these to test it out, or you can go to a local computer store that has keyboards on show.
If you end up buying a mechanical keyboard without testing the switches out first. You may end up hating your keyboard.
Most people like the MX blues [the clicky ones].

I like the MX reds though because you can't feel a bump when you push down a key, and because they are pretty quiet [unless you bash your keyboard]

There are lots of mechanical keyboards on the market. You could go all out and get a Ducky keyboard or get a pretty cheap one like this one

If you want macros then you can go for a Corsair K95 which has 18 macro keys. If you want less macros then you can go for the Logitech G710+ which has 6 macros.

Just remember to try out each MX switch, and you should be good.

u/Depariel · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

If you want clicky, the Poseidon Z seems to be a fine option. My brother-in-law bought one the other day and loves it so far.

If you want TKL with macros and you're fine with red switches, check out the Monoprice macro keyboard.

If you want something big and bulky with browns (and o-rings!), look into the Logitech G710+. It semi-frequently goes on sale for $100, occasionally less. A friend of mine absolutely swears by his.

Are you looking for a board with mechanical switches? If so, you'll be hard pressed to find one at that price range along with those requirements. Closest match would be the [Logitech G710+] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009C98NPY/ref=psdc_12879431_t1_B00BBUCCKO), and for a lot more money the [Corsair K95] (https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Mechanical-Keyboard-Back-Lit-CH-9000081-NA/dp/B00N4OBBG6/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1499888880&sr=1-1&keywords=mechanical%2Bkeyboard%2Bmacro&th=1).

Alright, so I could take this keyboard from Amazon, have them price match it, then get the $25 off?

u/PenPenGuin · 0 pointsr/keyboards

You didn't list your budget, but since you said you have a Lycosa, I'm going to assume you know what it feels like to throw money at a keyboard.

Gaming keyboards (well, keyboards in general) can range from very budget friendly, to ridiculous.

Sticking with Razer and going for a more "solid" feel, the new Blackwidow line with the Razer custom switches may be what you're looking for. The versions with the Razer orange switches may be quiet enough that your roommate won't mind. The Blackwidow Ultimate Stealth has all the lights and other bells and whistles. The Logitech G710+ should feel and sound about the same.

If you want to dump the mechanical switch types all together, the Logitech G19 and the Corsair K50 are all-around good boards, but they'll have the same feel and heft of your Lycosa.

Your most solid built keyboards are going to be the mechanical ones - if even for the simple fact that the 104+ individual Cherry switches will weigh more than a single sheet of rubber membrane. If you get the chance, I'd suggest trying out a brown, red, or black Cherry switch. They don't have the telltale click, but if you're a key-basher, they can still be loud. If you find you hate'em or they're too loud, there's not too many membrane keyboards that have the "tanky" feeling of a mech. You might already be at the top of the heap with the Lycosa.

Logitech actually has made one mechanical keyboard. I've been keeping my eye on this for a while to see if they venture away from only using Cherry MX Brown switches, but so far nothing.

There's no screen, but it does have 6 macro keys and a volume control wheel. Pretty fair price too, IMO.

Despite the non standard bottom row the G710 is a pretty good first mechanical keyboard
