> Seriously I just want a fucking keyboard how is it that hard to find a mechanical keyboard that isn't $150

Easy. Heres an example.

> and covered in awful LEDs.

They don't really matter since you can turn them all off.

The K840 is a basic KB that uses Romer switches, is a fill sized, and non-LED for around that price. It's at $80 right now on Amazon usually $100.

The G413 is $100 right now on Amazon.

  • Romer G
  • Red LED
  • has usb pass-through
  • macro buttons built into the F keys
  • aluminum chassis so it is sturdier

I'm at work currently so that's the best I can do for you right now. Sorry.

If u/lifelongcaboose isnt busy hes my go to when I want to know more about mice and keyboards on this sub. Though he'll probably recommend other keyboards that dont use Romer G, which I would agree with him.

Caboose if you see this, this user is looking for a MX Brown feeling switch around $100, RGB not needed.

Logitech K840 for $60 on Amazon. Solid board from a well-known brand that will be reasonably quiet if you're going to use it in an office environment.

(Not an edit just in case you already read the other post)

Here is a keyboard you might be interested in, short travel and quiet. I don't personally know what they feel like, or the sound. I'd look ok YouTube for reviews, but based on the other article I posted this should fit the criteria.

It is hard to make a suggestion without knowing your preference.

With that said, there are boards you can get within your price range on Amazon.

One example is this

I recently graduated law school and built a home office setup for around $600 (my law firm has a good work from home policy). Details below:

Desk - DlandHome L-Shaped Desk - $130

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0798JW7FD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The L-shaped desk contains plenty of space for my dual monitor setup and has plenty of extra space on the sides. It was very easy to assemble (unlike some IKEA desks) and ships in a manageable flat box. I keep it in the corner of my room and it is very sturdy and doesn't shake.

Chair - AmazonBasics Office Chair -$50

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01D7P5BFS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Cheap and comfortable.

Monitors - 2x HP 23.8 in Monitors - 2x $110

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072M34RQC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

These can rotate both horizontally and vertically, which makes them perfect for work. Also VESA compatible. The quality of these are pretty good, but I only use them for word processing and web browsing. Not sure how good they are for movies or gaming.

Laptop Dock - Dell Universal Dock - $130

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071YTQBXM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Compatible with any laptop with a USB-C port. It charges the laptop as well while plugged in. It works with my work laptop without installing any additional drivers. Supports 2x DP and 1x HDMI. You might need to buy additional DisplayPort to HDMI cables depending on the monitors you use.

This is what I am rocking at work. The feel is "okay." I really like that the design is very minimalist, while giving a bit of mechanical feel to it, while also not annoying the whole company.

u/Elementz_Reborn · 1 pointr/LogitechG

Work: MX518 mouse, K840 keyboard, G240 mouse pad, G513's palm rest (not sold separately, but man I wish), H800 headset (not pictured)

Home: G502 HERO mouse, G910 keyboard, G440 mouse pad, G533 headset, G560 speakers

Looking for recommendations, but not sure what I want exists in the range I want.

Want a non-bulky (not necessarily slim just not big) keyboard with a minimalist "platform" design. I have a board with keys inside the top plate, I'm a disgusting pig and it's really dirty but hard to clean. I feel like a board with keys that are elevated on top of the top plate would be easier to keep clean. I don't care about rgb, but I do want a white or light blue back light. I'd like wireless but only if it's very reliable, I would like mind as long as it has USB passthrough.

Any thing that would approach what I want under 100$? Considering the Logitech K840 but it's missing backlight, and doesn't have USB pass through.

Also looked at the Logitech G513 but it's not platform, and is over 100...a lot of features I don't need.

Is there anything between these two?

Edit: Turns out there is a model directly between those two, Logitech G413 Silver. I didn't see it on Amazon so I didn't know it existed.

If you dont want any backlight but still like the g413, heres this https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Mechanical-Keyboard-mechanical-Switches/dp/B071VHYZ62 . Its the k840, its a g413 with no backlight, thats the only difference.

I was a sponsored PC gamer. I recommend a wired mouse that has weight adjustments (wireless mice dying during a game sucks and batteries cost money). Don't go for expensive stuff unless you know exactly what you want. You don't need 18 zillion buttons on the side of your mouse, they will just get in the way. Having 2 side buttons for your thumb is all you need in my opinion. For an introduction gaming mouse, I'd say you should look at the Corsair M65

As for the keyboard, most gaming keyboards are an absolute waste of money. They have lights, unnecessary buttons and that sort of jazz. Don't get any type of curved keyboard, those are also terrible. Personally, I stay far away from thin keyboards because they don't have enough tactile feedback for my taste. Something like a Logitech K840 is a good one to start with.

I've played with people who do well on all sorts of weird gear though. The most important thing is comfort. Look at customer reviews over website reviews. Gaming companies are notorious for paying for their equipment to get positive reviews, and (most) sponsored players are obligated to recommend their gear in public settings.
