For my clients prone to dissociation, I use ego state therapy to identify parts that are treatment resistant and secure cooperation. It is strongly recommended by many of the big names in EMDR/ trauma work. Sandra Paulson has a great book designed for therapists and clients both that is a great resource to help with this as well.
