Back to School shopping list:

This, This, or This depending on your hair type/style you want to achieve.

These Converse or these Vans depending on which style you like better. These are going to be your most versatile shoes for "every day" wear.

Assorted Crew or V-Neck Tees, depending on your preference

A good fitting pair of dark jeans, I linked 511's, but those may not suit you depending on your build. Try some pairs on, take pictures, and post them in the Outfit Feedback threads if you're not sure of the fit.

For dressing "up":

Two pairs of well fitting khaki's/chinos in different colors such as these in grey or these in khaki. Again, I linked slimmer fits, as that is what I wear, but you may need to change depending on body type. Posting in the feedback threads is encouraged.

One or two decent Oxford Cloth Button Down collared shirts that fit you well, in light blue and white.

Those should cover your bases as a freshman, as you're not likely going to have to dress super formal.

Note: Because you're just a freshman, you will most likely be hitting many random growth spurts. Try not to spend too much money on clothing, as you will likely outgrow it.

I use a 1-inch flat iron and 3/4-inch curling iron for these styles every morning because otherwise my asian hair would just be flat, stiff, and straight.

If you guys who also have a two-block have any styling questions I’d be glad to help you out :)

edit: I ask my hairdresser for a soft two-block (with #2 all around the sides and back) and for straight/blunt bangs up to my eyebrows.

You're going to have to use some form of hair product like a wax if you want it to look good. Asian hair just doesn't flow well no matter what you do to it. If it can stick up it will stick up, if it can't it will only form a bowl.

Gatsby Moving Rubber is pretty popular among us Asians.

  1. I binged on a WHOLE bunch of random ass costumes during the summer when a costume site was getting rid of clearance. I never opened the box, lol.... so I'll either be Kick Ass, a running hammer, or I forget what else the hell I bought. A Star Trek guy? A bag of ramen?

  2. Maybe this, since I want to look slick however I dress up??

Good luck on the interview! (I need to get on that myself.... sigh....)

hair - The product and technique is big. You'd be surprised at how much pomade/wax can vary. this stuff can hold up just about any hair. Also using a blow dryer helps.

face skin - yes, moisturizing helps a lot. Some people are born with blessed skin genetics and don't need it, but the majority of people do.

There's a few Gatsby Hair Wax that'll give you that result on slightly damp hair. I personally like the Grape "wild shake" one for longer length hair.

Orrrrr if your hair is thick and wavy/curly, Gatsby or Layrite. Crew fiber is good too though.

I actually tried this today and it should work great and for $9 definitely worth a try

Gatsby Moving Rubber products are great; you can easily get that look by using the purple one (Wild Shake). They're like $10 on Amazon and eBay.

http://www.amazon.com/GATSBY-MOVING-RUBBER-SHAKE-2-8oz/dp/B000V2ACHI/ref=pd_bxgy_bt_img_y

Get some on your fingers, tilt your head down, and just style it up. If it's not staying up, you used too little (or it could be that your hair's too long, but with the purple, it shouldn't happen). If it looks like there's too much of it in your hair....you put too much of it in your hair.
