Very sorry to hear your news, and I almost feel bad for entering, but you sound like you have an awesome attitude about this, and for that you are commended!
Anyway, this is my oldest daughter. She just turned four years old and has become interested in puppetry. I used to be in a puppet group back in the day, and have a few hand puppets laying around the house, and have been trying to teach her.
She loves animals, so I think this monkey puppet would be awesome for her to learn with.
