The Kojima Code was a good read. I believe it covers up to MGS 3 or 4 only, but the history on the original MGS is great.

There’s also novelizations of MGS 1 and 2 written by Raymond Benson which are a little cheesy, but still a fun read.

My favorite’s the novelization of MGS4 by Project Itoh. That’s a very, very good read. Highly recommend.
