I like his commentary a lot and I think he has huge potential, so here a few little things that he could improve:

  • Get a widescreen monitor. 4:3 is very offputting if you're watching it on 16:9/16:10. I personally like the newer IPS panels, but an average TN will suffice.
  • Buy a better mic. The audio quality is very important if you are doing a lot of commentary and the average headset one isn't good enough most of the time. A lot of streamers/casters use this one since it's rather cheap, solid quality and looks awesome
  • Adjust your webcam angle and position. The image should contain mainly your upper body and your face while the camera is placed on the same level as your head or shoulders like this. Basically you want to give the viewer the impression that he is sitting right in front of you since it helps with presenting your personality and content. If you need a decent webcam with better quality and a better stand a lot of streamers use this one.

If you have trouble with funding your hardware I'm sure redditors will be glad to help you out a bit.

I just bought a used Microsoft LifeCam Cinema for $15 off Amazon, although the seller has a pretty bad rating (62%). I figured for $15, it was worth a buy. And if there was something wrong with the cam, then I'd just dispute it on Amazon.

I don't know much about the webcam market, but I did a little shopping around and it seems like the Microsoft LifeCam Studio and the Logitech HD Pro C920 are the two flagships. There aren't that many other companies that seem to come close, as all the other webcams I've seen have well under 100 reviews on Amazon.

That doesn't look like 2.0 hardware. The two cameras mounted inside the car, pointing left and right, look like Microsoft LifeCams, and I was pretty sure that Autopilot 2.0 required cameras on the side mirrors. It seems more likely that this is a test platform for correlating the Model S and Model X autopilot programs, with extra dash cams to document tricky situations the car gets into.

I heard this one is supposed to be real good for low-light conditions, the reviews are phenominal, and it's half price if you have Amazon prime.

I've been thinking about it as well. I've got this lifecam and the included software comes with limited manual controls (pic). It would be good for doing a youtube show, but it would be pretty difficult to film anything else. You obviously can't use a tripod or any other standard film equipment but I'm sure you can find creative ways to make a simple video. But obviously a proper camera would make the whole process much easier and the final product would look better.

It looks like the Microsoft LifeCam Cinema webcam is very popular these days. Unless you have a used philips Toucam laying around.

>not even worth arguing if you believe this, seems like you are the one who can't recognize shitty products

To each his own

I did my own little comparison with the Yeti and this

http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-LifeCam-Cinema-720p-Webcam/dp/B002MCZJ78

that i've been using for two/three years (disregarding the webcam portion that I don't really use)

Found no differences, no matter how much I tinkered with the "versatile" yeti.
