Get a set of Pyrex/glass (oven safe) mixing bowls, they can be microwaved, even better if they come with lids.

Barbara Kafka an editor from Gourmet magazine wrote a book way back on cooking in the Microwave and it tells you how to cook all sorts of basic foods.
