So I have a bunch of ones that I use. I counted them yesterday and I have about 35 spanning about 5/6 different brands.

The ones marketed towards facial use are definitely softer than the ones that are multipurpose.

These are my absolute favourite . They are so soft and gentle that I’d only trust these with the care of cleansing my first born. Like I said, these are like little blankets for the face.

Up until recently these were my favourite. I still adore them and they too are soft. They also come with a loop so that you can easily hang them on hooks in the shower or wherever. I still love these and they too are very nice, but the other ones I mentioned beat them out with regards to softness.

My third preferred brand are these ones here, which are much pricier than the others but they too come with loops for easy hanging/drying. They also come in different colours so if you like colour coding things there is that aspect. But because of the price and the fact that they aren’t the softest, I would pass on these unless you were interested in certain colours.

Besides these 3 brands I mentioned, I have another 4 different brands of microfiber cloths that I have (about 5/6 cloths per each brand). So I have quite a thing for these cloths and I can tell you that the ones that aren’t marketed towards facial use are scratchier/more abrasive. They aren’t the same as a typical washcloth, but they definitely aren’t as gentle as ones marketed for the face, which is probably why the multipurpose microfiber cloths tend to be cheaper by a tad.

Edited to add:

I also have a little system with them. I keep a collapsible Seagrass belly basket in my bathroom just for my dirty microfiber cloths. I use one cloth daily (or one per routine, depending on the day) and then I throw my dirty microfiber cloth in the basket. Any type of basket or bin will do, I just use this because it goes with the theme of my bathroom. After the basket is full I wash the cloths and fold them and put them away and start again. I keep this basket specifically for the microfiber cloths because they need to be washed separately so that they do not collect lint from other clothing in the wash. So basically I use this basket to sort them as I go along, instead of throwing them in the regular hamper and then sifting through that when it’s time to do the laundry.

Another bonus is that, at the end of your routine, if you happen to make a mess at the sink, you can wipe down the sink with the dirty microfiber washcloth before throwing it in the bin. This is especially useful for me on days that I use a charcoal tooth paste while doing my routine or if I happened to be wearing makeup that day, because both the charcoal and the makeup tend to stain or leave spots on my sink. The microfiber cloths polish down the sink without need for soap, so passing a wipe over the sink with the dirty cloth and then throwing it into the basket is a nice system for me.
