You don't have to have a monitor complementing your video card, but it's not a bad idea to in order to maximize what you have available and minimize what you spend. If you have a card that can only do 30fps, then paying more for a monitor that can do 60fps will be spending more than you need to. There are a ton of different options for monitors in any case, you should first see what your approximate budget is, what your preferences are (size, resolution, refresh rate) perhaps based on your graphics card, and that will help you narrow down a lot of your options. If you're planning on upgrading your card soon, you can buy a nicer monitor in preparation for that, but otherwise I wouldn't buy a way nicer monitor if it wouldn't make any difference.

Have you bought your motherboard yet? If your drives didn't come with a SATA cable, you might as well buy a couple since from my experience, motherboards haven't supplied me with more than one. Really, the majority of cables are very, very similar. No point in overspending when they're virtually the same. For SATA I don't mind the Monoprice ones that you can get off Amazon. You don't have to get those, just use the price as a baseline for what you might pay elsewhere. Also, there are some SATA cables where the heads turn at 90 degrees to fit into your case better.

Okay, a cable like this would do fine then, assuming 18" is long enough for you.

Thanks for the great reply. I was looking at this monitor it gets 60fps but I don't have a video card yet cause the one I was looking at is sold out everywhere. I need help to choose another since I was following someone's build and now I don't know. How can I check if a card can reach 60fps? Where do I find this on the spec list?

I bought my motherboard yesterday, I don't know if it comes with cable or not since it hasn't arrived. Was thinking I'd buy one just in case.. I was specifically looking at the monoprice ones on Amazon actually. I don't know which one I need the 90º angle one or the normal one. Is it just preference or does it make a difference? Should I get 2 one for hard drive and one for optical drive?

Edit: these are the two SATA cables I was looking at: 90º & normal

which cable are you missing? there are 2, a power cable and a data cable. You should have extra power connectors, so I'm going to assume you are in need of a SATA data cable usually these are included with your motherboard.
