just finished my first pc build and nothing's on the monitor. ez debug has lights on dram and cpu, but i don't see anything wrong. the only thing i can think of is updating the bios, but the computer isn't even on so i can't.

I would recommend this monitor. https://www.amazon.com/Sceptre-E248W-19203R-Monitor-Speakers-Metallic/dp/B0773ZY26F/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1528159055&sr=8-2&keywords=sceptre+24+inch

Its also 75hz, but it is $85 less. I would also recommend going with a dedicated GPU and no APU at all, because they cost slightly more. Just get a good CPU. I would recommend the ryzen 1500x, they have literally the same performance but this is $13 less and it is overclockable. I overclock to 4.0 GHz from 3.7.

The motherboard is also somewhat expensive, I would recommend this one. It is $45 less and does the exact same stuff. I am not sure why the other guy suggested the more pricy one, but if you like the style then go for it.

I will add more info later, Please read this whole thing and if you have any questions ask me. I have built 3 PCs.

I mean it costs a bit more, but it looks sick. I think I might get that. also why the 450w bronze if the 500w goes for $2 less? Also im not looking for a motherboard like that would this one work?

Apologies. I misunderstood and thought that Vega is their next CPU after Ryzen. As I mentioned I am very out of the loop when it comes to which parts are which these days. Thanks for the correction.

I'm looking at Threadripper and it looks like their 16 core CPU. Definitely looks like the socket will not be compatible with existing Ryzen mobos, but maybe its introduction will lower the price of existing Ryzen CPUs.

As to "Why.. ", I'm not very familiar with this sub reddit but I am all too familiar with fanbois attacking anyone saying that they're buying this hardware or that hardware. That's not something that I have any desire to deal with so I may as will nip it in the bud up front.

As for the budget, I don't plan on buying everything all at once. I'll get the mobo first, then either the CPU or a stick or two of RAM, then the next part.

So for now I'm looking for a minimalist motherboard for around $80 that will run a Ryzen CPU that does not have the RAM timing problem and is reliable, if such a thing exists. For example, is this MSI motherboard any good? Reviews are saying that the latest BIOS fixes the RAM speed issues and it's currently on sale for $75.

The RAM amount is because I have taken to using a RAM Disk for a lot of things and I want to be able to make further use of one or more RAM Disks. It outperforms my SSD in some ways.

For reference, here's my current build. Yes, it's old:

> Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (10.0, Build 15063) (15063.rs2_release.170317-1834)

> Mobo: Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD5

> Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1100T Processor (6 CPUs), ~3.3GHz

> Memory: 12288MB RAM

> GPU: MSI "Gaming" 4 GB R9 380

> Corsair AX 850 watt power supply

If you wanted you could get a Ryzen 5 1500x and a Micro-ATX B350 mobo
for about 20 bucks cheaper.

u/BandidTwitch · 1 pointr/buildapc

Well depending on your budget, this is what I would consider a good start. Ryzen 2600 for the cpu, motherboard doesn't matter much so i went with msi pro b350. For ram I'd suggest at least 16gb at 3000mhz. For a gpu depending on your flavor either an Nvidia 1030 or a Rx 560 4gb. I'd go with the rx460 just because there's a lot of weird versions of 1030s now with old ddr3 memory. For storage depending on how many photos shes taking I'd go for a 1tb ssd. A case just has to be big enough for a matx mobo, like this red bitfenix. Then a decent power supply. So it comes out to be about 750 bucks like I said without a budget in mind this is what I would go with lots of value without spending a ton.

This is the motherboard. is there anyway you can tell if this is the new updated version and thank you so much man.

u/4psae · 1 pointr/buildapc

Looks like this motherboard is currently cheaper. Prices can change daily so it's a good idea to update your build whenever you're about to buy. Other than that, maybe upgrade to 16GB >3000MHz RAM or a 1060/580 if you can find one at a reasonable price.

As for case fans, your case only comes with 1 x 200mm front intake. I haven't heard of anyone complain about temps in that case since it looks pretty well ventilated. I'd say first observe how your temps are and if you feel that you want lower temps then you could but one 120mm/140mm as a rear exhaust.
