It's a very good laptop with a good cooling system however I have a couple of cons
1- One of the 2 Ram slots is soldered so the max memory is 24GB and it has one storage slot as well .
2- It has a small battery
3- the GPU is the Max Q version
Now if you are okay with that the I7-8750H version is much cheaper and it should be very close in performance .
Another good option you should consider is the MSI GE75 this has the full RTX 2080, up to 64GB of RAM and a few storage options or the Omen by HP 2019 17 same specs with Gysnc and a thunderbolt 3 port .
In that budget range, you can go for the best possible graphics card available at the moment paired with a powerful i9 processor. This MSI GE75 Raider-023 is a great pick....but this newer version and slightly more expensive version with the i9 processor, has a little better processing power while having similar graphics card , display, heat management etc.. The later system has the best processor and graphics card you can get in a laptop at this moment, in addition to a great heat management system, beautiful display, solid build quality etc.. It will run all the latest games in addition to mastering heavy video editing , programming work and just about all you mentioned.
yes you are right I have a MSI GS 75 Stealth with 2070 MaxQ and I am exchanging it for the GE75 Raider 283

This has much better specs with some difference in price which is totally worth for what I am getting. It has a full non MaxQ RTX 2080 which is way better than the 2070 MaxQ but like you said the 2070 is also a good option
