If you can push your budget a little I would recommend this GT72VR Dominator because it comes with 16 GB of ram for smooth multitasking, Good SSD storage of 256 GB for faster boot up and loading, high build quality, very good cooling management, 1 TB of HDD for storage, GPU that should be able to handle the games you mentioned on high to ultra settings with very good FPs, 17.3 inch screen like you wanted, and it is not much over your budget.

I just got finished doing this shopping and comparing and I came up with this: MSI VR Ready GT72VR Dominator-033

Specifically, buying a refurbished one off of Amazon for $1250. For $1400, you could probably find a refurbished 1070. I had a tough time spending more than $1,200 on a laptop, though.

Here you go. Cooling is a major issue indeed, so I opted for that on 1 1/2 year ago because of the great cooling system in that PC. If you are going to invest in a gaming laptop, buy one with a solid chunky build. I know it is not very sleek nor beautiful, but at least it will handle playing games over a long time.
