Listen to the Revolutions podcast by Mike Duncan, it has a ton of Bonaparte material. I would also recommend this as a fantastic biography. http://www.amazon.com/Napoleon-A-Life-Andrew-Roberts/dp/0670025321
I'm only about a fourth of the way through, but to learn about how the revolution helped Napoleon rise to power, and shape his reign, there is a new biography of Napoleon that claims to be "the first one-volume biography to take advantage of the recent publication of Napoleon’s thirty-three thousand letters."
Not exactly what you're looking for, but I've really enjoyed reading it so far. Lot's of french names to keep track of, but it can be enjoyable even without gleaning every tiny detail.

I heard an interview with the author of a new book based on huge trove of his letters.

It sounds like a good read if you're interested in the subject.
Well if you're looking for another long book about a larger-than-life military genius who rises to the top of a revolution then you can't go wrong with this: https://www.amazon.com/Napoleon-Life-Andrew-Roberts/dp/0670025321/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=
Seriously, though, not a novel, but it is a brilliant book.
I just got Napoleon: A Life for Christmas and it is awesome.
