I've had no problem with bumps or inadvertently disconnecting. Then again I've had it for less than 500 miles.
It's actually pretty tight and those little magnets are really strong. Even if it did it comes up fast, though I can see how it might interrupt an audio output. This is the cable and I had to make the docking part.
