I would recommend upgrading to AC. If you are strapped for cash I can highly recommend this guy here. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0756QFLXP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Be careful! SOME routers will advertise these high AC speeds but only come with a 10/100 "fast" ethernet connection. Meaning no matter how fast your wireless is it's limited to 100mbps. Shady practice but they are out there.
As others have said, purchase your own networking gear, and send xifinity back their device. It will remove the equipment rental fee from your bill, i think around 10$ a month.

Is this for your home or a workplace? If it's for a workplace, I would recommend putting all networking equipment in a locked room. For the web blocking, I would recommend using a proxy server such as squid proxy server.
If a server is unaffordable, try this router: https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-AC1200-Gigabit-Ethernet-R6230/dp/B0756QFLXP/ref=sr_1_7?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1538399335&sr=1-7&keywords=web+filtering+router
The R6230 is $1.49 more than the R6120.
How's this for a router?
Woops, yeah, get the new version: https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-AC1200-Gigabit-Ethernet-R6230/dp/B0756QFLXP

No sure about ebay as I have never used it however general pricing across the board new AC1200s average $50 to $60. The only one i have personal experience with is this one and I had many customers satisfied with it when I worked at Staples
Edit: this is the correct link it didnt copy and my original comment had the wrong one.

But if you see an AC1200 on ebay your will to pay for just look up the model new on websites and skim reviews if most are positive then you will be fine.
