I don't currently use the regimen, but I did in the past.

I did have luck with it. My face got clear and looked great. I used the cleanser, the BP but, I found I did not like the moisturizer.

I also used the Jojoba Oil, which made my skin glow! It doesn't break you out, well it didn't break me out, but others have said it didn't break them out either.

You don't have to use the Jojoba Oil. You can just use moisturizer. It's completely up to you. I recommend reading the reviews. I will link you to the sites that are most helpful for skin care product reviews.

You can definitely use alternatives, but honestly Acne.org's BP is amazing and way better than store brand like Neutrogena's BP.

I currently don't use any face wash. I only scrub my face with sugar like 2x a week. It's helped a lot. My complexion is still somewhat spotty, but for the most part it's not too bad.

Now, for the alternatives for the regimen. I can't seem to find the page with alternative products, but I do remember them.

Alternative to Acne.org Cleanser:

Basis Sensitive Skin bar

Alternatives to BP :

Neutrogena BP (This is the only I can recall)

Alternative to Acne.org Moisturizer:

I pulled this off of a forum post:

"Cetaphil or CeraVe are as close to Dan's moisturizer you are going to get in the store brand market... Anything else is either overly irritating or don't offer enough moisture for your skin on the regimen..."

Neutrogena is also a great brand for moisturizer.

When I was on the regimen I used Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF15. My skin looked great on that. I don't use it anymore, but it does work nice. It didn't break me out.

I have linked you to Amazon listings of the products, so you can see what the product looks like, although I am sure you already have seen these products before :P

Amazon also has reviews, so I figured that would be helpful.

Sometimes I use the Stridex in the red box. I looked it up on amazon.co.uk and found it. Honestly, the breakouts are worse if I use the same bra twice or the same shirt twice (so I avoid doing that unless I really feel like being lazy as fuck), but the Stridex helps it go down. Anytime I use Stridex, I make sure I wait a bit and follow up with the CeraVe moisturizer, because Stridex tends to make my skin feel a little dry. Benzoyl peroxide 2.5% works too. I just use generic stuff I find at CVS or Walgreens or whatever. You should be able to find that at a drug store in the UK? Neutrogena makes a spot treatment with 2.5% BP, but if you can find an off-brand, it'll be wayyy cheaper.

edited for clarity: Really, as far as products go, I treat body acne like the skin acne on my face; however, with my face, I treat it "proactively" in that I use those products on my face daily, but with the body, I treat it retroactively and only use the products when I find myself having problems. To be proactive on my body skin, I make sure that I clean it gently (no scrub brushes or wash cloths, just water/my hands) and use the same "medications." I just use plain Dove soap to wash with; I used to use fancy Old Spice body wash, but I think the fragrances make my skin feel oily (so I only wash with it if I'm going on a date or something).

edit OH. And even though I use the mint julep masque on my face, I generally prefer to use this stuff on my body (mix 2 parts apple cider vinegar 1 part clay powder), but it's messy as fuck (but it's really nice for your buttcheeks, no shame).

I have combo skin (generally oily but as I've gotten older more dry, especially if I'm using actives and especially ESPECIALLY in winter) that's acne prone.

As far as cleansing, I've been trying to not use any soap in the mornings (except for micellar water) because I think over soaping makes my skin break out. To take off makeup, I've been using Garnier Skinactive Micellar Water ($6.59) and then second cleansing with Bliss Rosegold Gentle Foaming Cleanser ($10.99) or Pacifica Cosmic Hemp balancing face wash ($10).

I've been using Derma E Vitamin C Concentrated Serum w/ Hyaluronic Acid ($19.99 on Ulta, $18 at Walmart) and Clinique Hydrating Jelly ($28 for 4 oz) after in the mornings and the Ordinary Natural Hydrating Factors ($7.70) OR Etude House Moistfull Collagen Cream ($14.90 on Amazon) before bed. The Ordinary & the Etude House creams are nice but too thick for me to use in the mornings because I don't have time to let them sink in completely before I have to put on make up, the Clinique dries much faster. I think I prefer the Etude House more than the Ordinary (makes my skin feel smoother) but the Ordinary is so cheap that I always buy it.

For exfoliants, in the mornings I don't wash my face with soap, I just rinse with water and follow with Pacifica's Kale Water Micellar Cleansing Tonic with glycolic acid ($12). At night I switch between Pixi Overnight Retinol Oil ($24), Differin ($12.89) and a benzoyl peroxide gel (right now Neutrogena On the Spot - $9). Once a week I'll use a Pixi Glow Glycolic Peel pad ($22).

I also have been using Lancome Skin Feels Good Hydrating Tint ($35) because it has hyaluronic acid and SPF 23 (when I use this I powder with BareMinerals Original Foundation because it has an SPF of 15 so I'm covered as far as skin protection). On days where I don't feel like wearing make up I'll use Neutrogena Hydro Boost Sunscreen w/ SPF 50 ($16.49). I get greasy with this by the end of the day, but I'm not worried about it. Powdering helps.

TBH the only thing that really helps my acne are prescriptions to Epiduo Forte + Acanya, but because I'm "too old to have acne" (HAHA OKAY) my insurance doesn't cover that so I've been using Differin and Neutrogena :( It works but not as well as the RX stuff.

I've only ever been able to find the 10% in drug stores and I've never been able to find anything below 4%. Nutrogena makes a spot treatment with BP that is 2.5%
