So, what I did was bring along an international USB adapter (like a phone charger thing). There's a charging cable for the 3DS that's just a regular USB cable. And there's a good likelihood that if you stay in a hotel, there'll be USB charging ports on some nightstand or something. Bringing the adapter (something like this ) was just a bit of a convenience.
USB's always 5V, the world over. The DSi/2DS/3DS charger is 4.6V, but 5V works just fine for charging. I bought a N3DS XL from GameStop, and a USB cable is actually what they provided to charge it with.
A Portable Charger and a Universal Power Plug Adapter. These are my must haves, along with my laptop, my camera and my mobile phone.
You could wait till you get their and buy an adapter, they're cheap and can be found very easily, even some corner stores sell them.
Or you can get a travel adapter like this one. I can't speak for that specific one, but it does have good reviews and I had a similar one just without the USB ports on it.
