I have a few of these at the office. You can set various events, such as motion detection recording, and have it just record to your computer. That website has reviews on other hardware too if you want to find something in particular. The key is to ensure you get the right type of lens for the property portion to be monitored, i.e. Zoom, wide angle, etc.

Look how adorable and pretty it is, and what the fuck is she going to do about it? I would personally do this with the camera because it'd be hilarious to get a recording of her tampering with the sign. If you install the sign on a nice post instead of just a stake and she messes with it than she's vandalizing your property. Double the fun when you file a report.
