I only have my computer right now. No MIDI controllers, no sound interface, not even VSTs (the program I use doesn't take them).
How would the interface reduce latency, especially when my primary form of input is my keyboard?
Is there a dedicated "used music gear" website I can hunt through?
Also, what other stuff should I get besides the interface? I was considering getting a Korg Nanokey/Nanopad:

http://www.korg.com/us/products/controllers/nanokey2/
And then a USB turntable like so: http://www.amazon.com/Numark-DJ-Go-Ultra-Portable-Controller/dp/B004S8AU2I/ref=sr_1_21?m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1408927735&sr=1-21
The idea would be that I would be able to play a version of my track with drums, etc. removed (don't any sort of Ableton-y stuff) via Virtual DJ, use the nanoKey/Pad to put the drums/a synth solo in, then use the remaining channel on VDJ to be a cut-rate A-Trak wannabe.
How simple could I push this without running into lag issues or ending up with a lame performance setup?
Thanks!
EDIT: I also have nanoloop iOS ( http://www.nanoloop.com/index.html ) which has a live capacity. More importantly, I have tons of music from that program that is live-playable (I assumed that someday I would play these songs live). The downside is that trying to play them live looks lame (twiddling on my phone) and the songs sound kinda sparse. Should I integrate that into my setup somehow? Could I?
Oh wow thanks this helped so much! I'll for sure follow those soundcloud artists. To be honest I haven't actually started DJing yet but I have had a tiny bit of experience. What controller would you recommend for a beginner? So far I've been suggested the Mixtrack Pro - Numark, the DJControl Instinct - Hercules, and the DJ 2 Go - Numark.
My price range is anything under 200$ for now. What do you think?
I bought the Numark DJ 2 GO. It's small and cheap, but I got it for $60. It comes with a pre-configured copy of Virtual DJ, so you'll be able to start using it right away!
