Right, the OEM one only lights up the center of the strip.

I got a $50 replacement one on Amazon a few months ago. It's the full thing, not just the LED lights. The one I got is red all the way across (instead of silver like OEM) and lights up all the way across, so it's a nice little upgrade. Installation is pretty involved - requires taking apart a lot of the inside parts of the hatch, but not really technically difficult. I think I used a guide I found on youtube that explained each step.
