sea-gull mi182sk This one is my favorite. it was the first one that I ordered. Then I thought "I need something cleaner too"

So I got the skagen skw6103. Then I was like, "but what if I don't wanna dress up but I don't want something too busy. I do like the gears though..."

so i got the orient esteem. And I was pretty sure I was done.

Then I saw wooden watches. They're kinda goofy and kitschy, but this one by wonbee looked alright, and it was only $20. So I got a fun goofy watch. It's cheap, I know that. but I think its neat.

Yep. last week I was watchless. now I have a collection. I love every one of them. They're not super pricey or fancy, but I love them. The look of each of them is "me" in its own way. I couldn't be happier. but I spent too much money getting here. So now the hobby is on hold for a while. Maybe my next prospect will be a "fancy pants" watch. One I have to save up a few thousand of walking around money to purchase. That'll put the hobby to bed for a while.

no it won't.

While Swatches are fine (in my book, anyways), I don't know that it would be the best fit with a suit and tie. You say you've looked through our buying guide, and your $150 budget puts you squarely into Orient Bambino range, pretty much the most recommended dress watch under $200. There are a few different styles and versions of the Bambino, including (but not limited to) the Bauhaus and the Roman Numerals. There is also the new Orient Symphony II coming in with sapphire crystal. If you like the look of the "guts" of the watch showing through, there's the Orient Esteem open heart.

There is also the popular Citizen NH8350 series, including the much sought after NH8350-83L, but there are other colors and designs including the NH8350-59L and NH8350-08B.

I know you said you already own a Seiko 5, but for around $100 you could definitely find a dressy model that would fit with business wear.

Depending on how formal of an environment we're talking about here, you could get away with something more sporty with business casual, like an Orient Mako II.

None of these other users even really read your question which is disheartening as a community.

For the money, I'd recommend the Orient Esteem. It has an open heart design to see the movement and it can be dressed up or down.

Orient has some nice watches... and WELL within your budget:

Esteem - white dial

A little dressier... Esteem - gold/white dial

There is another Orient model that appears to be completely gone from the Internet that is almost exactly what you are describing, blue dial and all. Here's Orient's web page for it. Maybe you can find it for sale pre-owned.

Stuhrling is a terrible brand. Here's an Orient option that's somewhat close to what you were looking at: Orient Esteem Open Heart

u/yuletide · 2 pointsr/Watches

Gorgeous watch! I'm very close to getting one of these, or the Orient Esteem.

u/jonjonguitar9 · 2 pointsr/Watches

awesome, i just got this orient and i'm pretty damn happy

Someone is offering to buy me a watch for Christmas, they haven't put a limit on the price but i want it to be under $250.

I currently have 4 watches, all pretty cheap. A Stührling, Timex, Casio, and Bering.

I have pretty much exclusively looking at Seiko and Orient because I have seem them raved about on this sub at this price.

The Orient Esteem watches look very interesting and more stylish that what I currently have. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]
I was also looking at these [6] [7]

As for the Seikos, I really enjoy the look of the day window on this [1] And the others that I quite like are [2] [3] [4]

Quick edit: I forgot I had this Rodina page [1] bookmarked!

I know this is a really long post with a lot of different watches, but I just want to get something reliable and not similar to what I currently have (to a degree). Thanks ahead of time!

i did some more lookingI looked some more and found this, the Orient Esteem. The styling is very nice, although i can't say it's the exact font i would choose. It's on the dressy side but i think the right band would make it work, and i tend to wear nicer clothing. But the simple styling is nice, the window is why i like it, a skeleton is too much, the peak just sucks you in (although the plate covering a good portion is annoying). I haven't been looking at mechanicals much but i know it would need to be worn every other day at least to keep it running, and isn't it necessary to be more careful with them (try to to hit my wrist on something hard for whatever reason)? This is way over what i originally said, but there's 30% off, so it's 120. I doubt i'll get it for that, but the price just changed to that and hopefully it will go back down as it was 130 until 4:30 yesterday according to camelcamelcamel, which discounts to 90.
Other than that the only thing i found was the Seiko snn241 which is a little higher than i wanted to pay, especially compared to the orient.

this seiko offers a nice little contrast for the chronograph hand and outer indices

If you're willing to go a bit higher

there's this gorgeous orient esteem that offers a solid automatic movement, an open heart, and gorgeous hands.

I'm not too familiar with the differences from the 1 vs. the 2. Is this the one you have?.

If so, I was debating this back and forth for a while before pulling the trigger on the II.

u/nkbxwb · 1 pointr/Watchexchange

The watch color I want is here on amazon
,but the price is nearly the same, doesn't come with another watch, and may not even be authentic

u/cab1024 · 1 pointr/Watches

Orient Esteem. I was going to suggest the Moderno, then saw this which as elements of your IWC. Good luck with your search.

Do you guys know how easy it is to change the strap? I need a brown strapped watch.

Too bad this watch isn't on sale. I'd jump on it so hard

What is the difference (besides name) on the Rodina and Sea-Gull:
Rodina
Sea-Gull
I'm looking for a white dial / blue hands combo. Automatic or hand wind. I know at a low price point accuracy wont be my friend. I can spend ~$250 or so on my first watch.
The Orient's look ok but just don't look as simple:
Esteem
Soma
Bambino

Yeah I was looking at this one

However, the size was a concern. I'll check your suggestions when I'm with her because I'm in class at the moment but thanks!

u/LazyRambler · 1 pointr/Watches

I'm looking to buy a dress watch. Black strap with white/lighter dial. Here are some I like. I do not want to spend more than 300.

I was thinking, I could buy a Seiko Kinetic

Or an Orient Esteem

Or Orient sun and moon

I figured, if I ended up buying the Seiko kinetic, for around 150, I could also end up buying the Seiko Solar. I do not have something like this and I figured, I could used it for rugged purposes.

Suggestions, please.

I'm a big Orient fan. I've got this [esteem] (http://www.amazon.ca/Orient-FDB08005W-Esteem-Heart-Watch/dp/B005HZU7LU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1394302201&sr=8-1&keywords=orient+esteem) And I absolutely love it.

I really like this watch too, might have to get it next.

u/loveshack89 · 1 pointr/Watches

I was gearing up to by this Orient Esteem, but this past week Amazon apparently decided to jack the price up by $35. Does anyone know where I could get this watch at around $130 or less? I really don't want to go over my budget on this if I can avoid it.
