Well you don't go in-ceiling for the fronts. The rears you can but the fronts need to either be actual speakers or in-walls. Grab yourself whatever cheap 5.1 receiver fits your needs and then once you work out your remaining budget decide if you can afford to go past 2.0 with in-walls. In-walls are usually square and I like to use three identical MTM Style speakers if you go that route. These are $70 each so a $250 receiver and two in-walls and a basic $100 sub already puts you near your budget which is fine and the whole point of this post. Get the 2.0 or 2.1 going and when you have some more cash you can add another speaker for the center or the rear channel pairs which would be round.
