Yup! I only have wide tooth combs now- okay, and a rat tail comb for parting/punishing myself by teasing it, and one lone dusty paddle brush with no bristles.
Even though I have fine hair with a pretty loose wave, I find products for black hair tend to be better for my hair- I’m using Palmers Shea Curl shampoo and conditioner these days. Pert Plus also worked well for me as a kid, but I can’t find it where I am.
I was also surprised to find that coconut oil really worked for me, I would have thought it would be way too greasy, but my hair just slurps it up. Just a tiny bit on the length and ends, with the leftover smoothed all over, is great for my niece’s wavy hair, which is long and tangly and gets frizzy when she plays.
