If you goal is to do a frugal keto, then OMAD (one meal a day) is probably your best bet. My plan isn’t exactly OMAD because the BPC is pretty calorie heavy, but it satiates me and holds me over through lunch/dinner.

Breakfast: BPC (Bulletproof Coffee). I use 2 Tbsp of unsalted Kerrygold and 2 Tbsp of MCT oil (you can sub coconut oil for the MCT). I use this brand of MCT.

Approximately 53g of fat, 460 calories.

This leave all of my protein and around 50g of fat for late lunch/early dinner. This can be varied: grilled chicken with an avocado. Steak and broccoli with cheese. Fish and asparagus, etc. The key for me is the BPC in the morning as it holds me over throughout the day. Also remember to drink A LOT of water as keto will cause you to lose a lot of water weight. I also drink an apple cider vinegar drink a couple of times a day to curb hunger/cravings. Just a Tbsp of ACV with a Tbsp of lemon juice in a full glass of water with a few drops of stevia.

Hope that helps! Oh and buy almond flour at Costco, the Kirkland brand is really good! And check out /r/kerorecipes for meal ideas!

I get mine on Amazon but you can get it from GNC, Vitamin Shoppe or any health store:

Use MCT oil. Either the NOW foods or Premium. Both available from Amazon US and Canada.

No problem, my grandmother suffered from dementia and she lived with us her last few years. I can empathize somewhat with your situation .

Oh awesome! That's a great addition. If money isn't the largest factor for you MCT oil is the best part of the coconut oil, at least as far as your brain being able to utilize it for fuel. So you might want to check it out.
Here a Random's amazon example.

I've heard MCT coconut oil is soluble with extracts and vapes nice..

I would try that before PG/PEG anyday. Has to be MCT though. Terps are best but expensive..

The one I have actually does have it! I normally skip breakfast, just not much of a breakfast guy (maybe something light like a granola bar or a couple hard boiled eggs). So I feel like the coffee with some MCT kinda fills that void.

Here is a link to the kind I'm using:

Yes, regular coconut oil is good too. But not as good.

When you're taking MCT oil, it's almost like eating ketones. It enables your body to get used to distributing ketones around your body and using it for energy. It also enables you to stay in ketosis easier when you mess up and eat incorrectly.

So it kind of gives you a head start and a buffer zone.

Hang in there. Euphoria is just around the corner.

Nutiva Organic Coconut Oil (label says refined). I got it at Shop Rite.

I just ordered this to try, instead: Premium MCT Oil derived only from Organic Coconuts - 32oz BPA free bottle | The only MCT oil certified Paleo Safe and registered by the Vegan Society. Non-GMO and Gluten Free. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XM0Y9SE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_POkjzbW0ZY11Z

I know it's about as reliable as a reddit comment, but someone asked a question on their Amazon listing and that was all in the reply by another customer. I read their description and sure enough, they mention its a "full spectrum" containing Lauric Acid. I went to a few other listings and they specifically say they contain only C8 and C10. Like I said, the NOW brand was cheaper anyways so I made the switch.

Have a look for yourself. I encourage everyone to do their own research.

Fwiw I just made these and used flavorless MCT oil which I had on hand to try keto chow (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XM0Y9SE/), worked fine.

u/under_the_pressure · 0 pointsr/keto

You need to get MCT oil, it's a refined type of coconut oil. These people who use regular coconut oil and salted butter are doing it wrong ;) https://www.amazon.com/Premium-derived-only-Organic-Coconuts/dp/B00XM0Y9SE

Just reading through some other comments, I would agree that your calories are too high and you're consuming too many carbohydrates. I'd cut your carbs down to below 20g per day and up the fat content in your diet. 1 easy way to add more fat in your diet is bulletproof coffee, especially since you're already drinking a lot of coffee. Here's my 2 recipes:

Iced (this is my daily go to): 8oz cold brew, 1 TBSP heavy whipping cream, and 1 TBSP MCT oil, blended for about 10 seconds. Pour over ice. Optional: add a tiny amount of SweetLeaf Sweet Drops. The coconut flavor is my favorite. I usually double this recipe every morning.

Hot: 8oz fresh brewed coffee, 2 TBSP unsalted butter, 2 TBSP coconut oil or MCT oil, blended until butter and oil is melted. Optional: add a tiny amount of SweetLeaf Sweet Drops.
