Here is a post I've seen before that had saved. Note: I have quite a bit of this equipment but there are many options out there. Find stuff similar to this.

Here's the beginner sets I usually recommend:
That'll probably run you about $600 after taxes. But that will be everything you would actually need.
There's several other things I got along the way which I think you would find useful, but not necessary.
Additional items:
I made my homegym and I absolutely love it! It's my temple. Here's a note though.... you need to think long and hard on if you will use it. I work out 3-5 times a week. I stretch in there every day. Will you use it for 3 times a week minimum? Are you willing to move it when the time comes? Can you spare a 8x10ft area for this equipment?
You can always put down foam mats.

I bought these... not super thick, but they're padded enough for me to use barefoot on top of a concrete slab.

I've been using a set of foam mats, like these: https://www.amazon.ca/ProSource-Puzzle-Exercise-Interlocking-Tiles/dp/B00K2TWXD6
3x3 fits my space with a 6in padding around it. I haven't hit the walls yet (but have hit the ceiling).
Also, these make it a lot easier on the feet for long sessions!
They come in adult size! You can cover your whole floor with them. No fun colours, but you're looking for gym mats.
As others have said, try heavy duty foam pads with electric drums. [This kind of kick] (http://astmusic.com.my/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/dtx450k.jpg) is less noisy than the "silent" one. I stack 3 layers of [these] (https://www.amazon.ca/ProSource-Exercise-Interlocking-Protective-Equipment/dp/B00K2TWXD6/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8). There is another drummer in my building that uses a very similar set up too.
Ditch the carpet and use gym matting instead?
You can get those interlocking foam floor tiles on Amazon at about a dollar per square foot.

This is what I put down. It's just the base really, There's the platform as you can see and a treadmill is going in, it will be on horse mats. They some mats are going down on the right for a stretching area.
Did you use something like this? Cause that’s a great idea. I notice the more comfortable I get in VR, like from just standing there like a jack ass to using things like rocks and walls in farpoint to duck and cover (and thus look like a total jack ass lol) I tense up and put a lot of pressure on my feet so a little cushion would be awesome!

If I'm dropping the bar either because of fatigue as you said or as an emergency drop as /u/n00bosaurus_Rex said I'm wondering if my floor will be okay. I imagine bumpers are "safer" for that as well but I have laminate floors that I intend to put this over.

Daaayum. I had these before the stall mats and I thought they were good. My husband just didn't like the interlocking thing.

The floor mats are zebra. The wall mats are these http://www.amazon.com/ProSource-Puzzle-Exercise-Interlocking-Square/dp/B00K2TWXD6?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s01
Those mats that go under work out equipment are what I use. They do the job fine.
