we actually aren't. our citizenship is not by blood, but tied to the commonwealth. The day we get out of the commonwealth, and decide to become independent we also lose our citizenship (its the same thing that happened with the philppines).
We'll have to decide between "puertorican" or "US".

By the US Attourney General of 1991, he analysed and explained the law that oversees the island and stressed on the topic that the US has a strong stance against dual-citizenship for puertoricans, highlighting how many laws would cause people to have to leave the island if they would like to retain their citizenship.
