You definitely could pick it up IF you are genuinely, deeply interested and have the aptitude for it. Are you good at math? If you are at last slightly above average, you should be fine. If you're the sort of person who hates math, then anything beyond intermediate-level college courses will probably be too difficult/tedious for you.

You also shouldn't do it if you're interested because you think the money is good. You won't be able to stick with it unless you are truly interested and driven to learn the craft.

Personally, I'm so-so when it comes to math. I was never great at it and this is what hampered me the most. I'm a 2nd year CS student right now. I have struggled with some concepts that other students breezed right through, but I have made it this far partly out of sheer determination.

If you're interested in getting started, you might want to check out the CarlH subreddit. Carl has been posting great tutorials there for the better part of a year. See the sidebar in that reddit for more info.

I got my start around 17 months ago. Having learned some programming years ago but not remembering enough to write a single line of code, I sat down with Wesley Chun's Python Live Lessons and I was hooked almost instantly. If you aren't familiar with programming, Python is an excellent first language to learn. and these video lessons are a great primer. HTH!
