It isn't that cheap, but my favorite is the spiral bound, 8.25 x 11.75, Rhodia dot pads. I love the dot pads, and the spiral bound is great for doodling, testing inks or nibs, or whatever else you might want to do, especially since it lays flat. I like this size because it's nice and big, and you don't feel cramped, especially since it's top bound.
