You're pretty harsh looking. Tyra Banks would call you high fashion.

To combat this, just be a chill, lighthearted person. If your personality is approachable, the initial threatening nature of your facial features will be less of a hindrance. Your first picture totally looks like boyfriend material. Seriously. Approachable, not desperate, easy going. It's perfect. But you look like you're with family/close friends, so try to have that ease with all the people you meet.

Since you have such pale skin, avoid harsh black shirts. Especially shirts that look like they came from Hot Topic. If you're going to wear black jeans, wear a more fashion forward shirt with it (plaid/a pattern/ a lighter colored shirt.) Otherwise, blue jeans look more casual. You can't go wrong as long as they fit well and aren't super lightwashed.

If the dark circles bother you, get a good eye cream. Don't think you can't cause you're a guy, either! Ain't no shame. (I recommend this one: http://www.amazon.com/RoC-Retinol-Correxion-Wrinkle-1-Ounce/dp/B00027DMI8 Creams are pretty hit or miss because it all depends on your skin, but I know quite a few people who like this one! It's easy, put a little on your finger and massage into your eye area, then sleep. It doesn't have a big smell either, if you're worried about being girly or whatever.) Also, make sure you're drinking water.

I'd be really, really interested to see what you'd look like with a haircut. And if you're the guy with the dyed black hair in the group pic, don't do that anymore, it's too dark for your skin tone and makes you look threatening.

Smile however you want to in pictures, don't be so overwhelmed with how you should be posing that you come off as self-conscious, because that's the worst, in my opinion. Have fun, look like you're having fun, and be a happy person. People will be drawn to you naturally.

Sorry about the friend-zoning. Wrong people, wrong time, but be patient. In the mean time, be happy that you seem to have good friends, stories to tell, and a decent personality.

tl;dr: not ugly.

Good luck!

I don't have any suggestions for your eye bags, but I believe The Ordinary makes a retinol/retinoid products: Advanced Retinoid 2% and Retinol 1%. Neutrogena uses retinol on their Rapid Wrinkle Repair line and ROC has Retinol Correxion.

Then again, tret is way more effective than any OTC product. What you get is up to you.

I really like this Neutrogena retinol moisturizer: http://www.amazon.com/Neutrogena-Ageless-Intensives-Wrinkle-Moisture/dp/B001OMI9AQ/ref=sr_1_3?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1452197532&sr=1-3&keywords=neutrogena+night+retinol+moisturizer although I've been using retinol serums I discovered on Amazon as well. Another poster mentioned the Instanatural brand and I've been experiementing with that and like it. Roc makes a good one, too: http://www.amazon.com/RoC-Retinol-Correxion-Wrinkle-Night/dp/B00027DMI8/ref=sr_1_sc_1?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1452197584&sr=1-1-spell&keywords=rocnight+retinol+moisturizer

Also vitamin C serums are great. Instead of Vaseline on your face maybe consider Coconut oil. That stuff is da bomb.

Yes, it's fine to put a niacinamide serum wherever you're wanting to treat pigmentation. Check out Skinlex 10% niacinamide extended, it has the antioxidant NAG and licorice root extract which also help pigmentation.

Pond's Clarant B3 cream has niacinamide as the third ingredient, it's basically a tub of cream with a decent amount of niacinamide and more economical for body use. I'm not sure what the exact percentage is though.

Here's a link to the Roc retinol I like:

https://www.amazon.com/RoC-Correxion-Anti-Aging-Oil-Free-Non-Comedogenic/dp/B00027DMI8?th=1

It's the 'RoC Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Anti-Aging Retinol Night Cream' and comes in an aluminum tube. Avoid their retinol 'facial serum' that comes in a small pump bottle, that one has a ton of fragrance and was irritating.

Sure, I responded to another poster, but I'll paste it here too!

For the face, I don't spend much more than 10-15 minutes a day on it, but I stick to this regimen daily for the most part. Here's what I do (YMMV):

Morning:

  • Wake up, put rose hip seed oil on my face, walk my dog.

  • take a shower, proceed with a vitamin C serum, or Vitamin C with CoQ10 cream (just depends what I bought that time, I switch back and forth). Finish getting ready

  • Apply SPF, usually SPF 30 (I also have a CC cream with SPF20 if I feel like doing makeup)

  • Head out!

    Night (5 minutes):

  • Wipe makeup off with a Burt's Bees Wipe, wash with CoQ10 cleanser

  • Apply retinol every other night, coconut oil otherwise.

Here are some of my favorite products:

  • BWC Vitamin C + CoQ10

  • ROC Retinol Cream

  • CoQ10 Cleanser

Oh, I also use a Vitamin E oil I get from Trader Joe's, and I mostly use it on my chest and neck to keep that skin looking moisturized. I don't do it religiously, but I keep some in my bathroom.
