The Roku Ultra goes on sale for about 69$ very regularly, and looks like it went down to 50$ last black Friday. Maybe gives more evidence to /u/Somar2230/'s post saying it will be 50$ this black Friday as well.
You can see the price history of both here:

Looks like the lowest a new Premier has been on Amazon is 29$. I'm sure both are great devices. I got the Ultra just cause I like being able to control the TV power and volume w/ the Roku remote. I also thought the wifi might be better and like the option of having a wired ethernet port. My last Roku lasted quite a few years so I figured why not just get the best one. I would look through the feature list another user posted and see if any matter for you.
4K Roku devices are down to $30:

You can get the Ultra for about $150 CAD pretty regularly. But honestly the Roku Streaming Player (the new express model) at $40 CAD or the new Premiere at $80 is good for most folks.
Note: Roku has a fun quirk of having to transcode the audio when playing 5.1 audio on a device connected to a 2 channel endpoint. Where some other clients will handle that on the endpoint side.
I bought a few of these and subscribe to Netflix for $15/mo. I can watch Netflix/YouTube/Amazon/CBS news etc.
I dropped all cable companies and only pay for basic internet. Between internet and Netflix, I spend $65 month and have more than enough to watch on the tube.

I would not get the Roku streaming sticks. I have a Roku Express and a Streaming Stick+ and I regret getting the stick. I've had so many problems with it, including the remote randomly un-pairing and heat problems. I definitely suggest the Roku Express for $24 or the Roku Premiere for just under $40 if you want something a bit nicer or 4k.
