Buy the adapter, they're cheap and support hotspots via kali's gui. https://www.amazon.com/Rosewill-Wireless-adapter-Dongle-150Mbps/dp/B00ZWPPD0K/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1492796929&sr=8-2&keywords=usb+wifi+rosewill. Listen to padom001.
I don't think so, as it is a USB adapter.
Originally bought it for my Pi, as the Amazon page says it is ideal for a Pi (lol my ass). When I tried it on my laptop, it didn't work. Tried it on Pi, didn't work either. After much hacking and inspecting Linux driver source and Windows drivers, I figured out it was based on the RTL8188EU. I tried running the following as root:
modprobe r8188eu
echo "0bda ffef" > /sys/bus/usb/drivers/r8188eu/new_id
And the driver instantly picked it up and it was working normally.
I made a udev rule as a temporary workaround, and submitted a patch to the out-of-source rtl8188eu driver, which didn't receive answers, so instead I submitted a patch upstream.
