Glass eels are the juvenile phase of both Anguilla anguilla (European Eel) and Anguilla rostrata (American Eel). Adults from both species travel from the rivers they grew up in, to the Sargasso Sea which is approximately where the Bermuda Triangle is. There they spawn then die. Their larval young drift through the Atlantic currents until they grow to be Glass eels. They then begin the journey home to the fresh water rivers, where they transition into Elvers. They live in freshwater lakes and rivers on their respective continents until they become sexually mature adults, and journey back out to the ocean to start the cycle again.
