not bad for an entry level SATA m.2

but I feel the Sabrent Rocket 256gb for $39.98 is a better deal for a 256 NVME if you want NVME over SATA

u/yiweitech · 9 pointsr/bapcsalescanada

Spend $5 more and get the much much much better Sabrent rocket also with no tax

https://www.amazon.ca/Sabrent-Rocket-Internal-Performance-SB-ROCKET-256/dp/B07KGLN3HN/

The 6000 is a dramless hmb drive, uses 1gb/tb of your system RAM and doesn't perform very well

u/MC_10 · 5 pointsr/buildapcsales

10% off code 10O55JEG also works with:

  • 256GB - $44.99
  • 512GB - $89.99
  • 2TB - $404.99

    EDIT:

Same sale as 13 days ago I believe: https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/comments/aje68a/ssd_sabrent_rocket_1tb_2280m2_30x4_nvme_phison/

    > Here are a few things to note: The 256GB, 512GB, and 2TB SKUs are also on sale using this code. The bottom three SKUs have the same $/GB while the 2TB has a premium ($404.99). The product page can be found here. Uses the Phison E12 with Toshiba's 64L 3D TLC NAND, like many other drives: Corsair MP510, MyDigitalSSD BPX Pro, Addlink S70, and Seagate BarraCuda/FireCuda 510. The warranty DOES NOT stand up with other drives in this category, it seems. As high warrantied TBW is a selling point of E12 drives, this is a disappointment; I suggest anyone interested in this drive contact Sabrent for clarification. Due to the previous two points, this drive would mostly fit the "Prosumer & Consumer" workstation category: fast sequentials, quad-core controller for heavier workloads and higher IOPS, basically a budget 970 EVO 11 | 22. I don't necessarily think this is a good deal on any particular SKU/capacity, but it's worth posting so the information is out there for those making decisions. There are a lot of these drives now.

The drive you selected: ENHANCED READ WRITE SPEEDS: Sequential read and write performance levels of up to 550MB/s and 520MB/s, respectively.

The one provided in the link below: Read speeds performance speeds can reach up to 3100 MB/s. Power consumption is much lower than traditional hard drives, making it the best embedded solution for new systems. The write speeds depend on the size drive you select, but the 256gb reaches up to 1050 mb/s. The 1tb and 4 tb reaches speeds of up to 3000 mb/s. There's a chart showing their respective speeds in the product pictures. Doesn't matter what brand you choose with the ram, but 3600mhz or higher is recommend for your selected CPU.

The idea that NVMe drives are much more expensive once again is due to samsung. They overcharge on their NVMe drives so much its crazy.

For context, you can get a Sabrent Rocket SSD, which is as fast as the Samsung 970 Evo NVMe SSD, but costs less than the Samsung 860 Evo SATA SSD.

I would recommend the Sabrent Rocket, its a fantastic SSD

The best 256GB NVMe at Amazon will likely be an E12-based drive:

Sabrent Rocket | Addlink S70 | MSSD BPX Pro

Although this is based on what your criteria for "best."

u/mr_bedbugs · 2 pointsr/trashy

Storage keeps getting cheaper and cheaper.

Here's the one I referenced, for $111. Remember, Amazon may not show everyone the same price

Here's a 256 GB M.2 for only $30!

u/Pbreeze2285 · 2 pointsr/buildapcsales

Don't know what you have for a motherboard, but the 256GB Sabrent Rocket nvme is at ~$35. Not a prime day sale, but it's what you're looking for budget wise provided you have an available m.2 slot that supports nvme.

Last time I bought a NVMe PCIe M.2 but the laptop was unable to read it because I think because the laptop can't read NVMe. So I'm trying to find what can work on the Acer.

u/thephyreinside · 1 pointr/laptops

Thank you for your information. I looked into the Intel and Samsung options, and determined the price jump was not easily justified for what this laptop is/does. I ended up going with this Sabrent 256gb NVMe drive, which has good reviews on Amazon and the search results I found on key Reddit subs. Hopefully it works out well. Thank you again!

Here's a couple gold choices all through amazon US as that's where I'm at.

1.WD Blue 3D NAND 1TB Internal PC SSD - SATA III 6 Gb/s, M.2 2280, Up to 560 MB/s - WDS100T2B0B https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073SB2MXT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_HeCYDb86S2GM1

3.WD_Black SN750 250GB NVMe Internal Gaming SSD - Gen3 PCIe, M.2 2280, 3D NAND, Up to 3100 MB/s - WDS250G3X0C https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07M64R4CR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_McCYDb08MN8DA

MOST expensive in the list

Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD 1TB - M.2 NVMe Interface Internal Solid State Drive with V-NAND Technology (MZ-V7S1T0B/AM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MFZY2F2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_VgCYDb180147V

Personally I'd recommend 1 for the price and storage capacity but if your on a budget 3 and 4 are good options. The Most expensive one is amazing with really fast read and write speeds but at a hefty price.

u/NoodleSaidSo · 1 pointr/buildapc

get a r5 3600, get 2x8 gb 3200mhz ram, get at least 256gb of storage and preferably in the form of an ssd that's faster than the a400 (would suggest this one Sabrent Rocket 256GB NVMe) as for the case there are definitely some prettier ones out there but if that doesn't matter to you it's fine

u/battleman13 · 1 pointr/techsupport

Yes, it does actually. That means your system has an MSI B250M BAZOOKA motherboard, when looked up on MSI's website, shows you do have an M.2 slot and it's just a given based upon how new the board is that you have full speed SATA slots available as well.

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B250M-BAZOOKA.html

I'd recommend an M.2 SSD as you have the slot open. But really, you could SATA or M.2

M.2 SSD's "can be" significantly faster still than SATA SSD's if they are based upon PCI-Express technology as opposed to SATA technology. In other words, you can have an M.2 SSD that communicates via SATA, or via PCI-E and the PCI-E based M.2 SSD's are much much faster.

Either one will make a noticeable difference. Just no reason not to go M.2 since it's available and not doing anything. This wouldn't be a bad SSD to go with, but you certainly can pick any one you'd like:

256GB is $45, 512GB is $75... just make sure to get one large enough for your needs!

do you think this ssd is good? Sabrent 256GB Rocket Nvme PCIe M.2 2280 Internal SSD High Performance Solid State Drive (SB-ROCKET-256) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KGLN3HN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_xJD7CbYNXCYH8

Or should I stick to my kingston a400 240gb ssd

u/KingJanIIISobieski · 1 pointr/pcparts

Nice great monitor.

I'd go for slightly cheaper case. Either the Meshify C is a great option or the Cooler Master Masterbox if you wanna stick with the RGB.

I'd go a little higher end on the PSU. The Seasonic Focus Plus is a great tier 1 PSU and fully modular but if you don't want to spend more then go for a Corsair CX series which is semi modular at least. Or if you wanna maintain the RGB theme you could go with this Thermaltake PSU.

Double your SSD capacity and get a higher tier one for only a few bucks more with the WD Blue.. Or go with a M.2 form factor one since your MOBO has a slot for it.

Just some ideas. CPU and GPU are good combo, as is the RAM.

u/cyberintel13 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Have you checked out the Sabrent Rocket m.2 3400 MB/s NVMe SSD? 256GB for $39, 512GB for $59, 1TB for $109. Absolute best value in SSDs right now.

u/FaisalKhatib · 1 pointr/buildapc

Bronze rated PSUs are fine for your setup. The only issue I see is that prices for PSUs are going to increase in the US (tariffs). So if you think you're going to upgrade in a year then you might be better off getting a gold rated one right now.

Regarding you build. A little low on storage. Also you could get a NVMe for less. Personally I'd get a 500GB version for more headroom. I know you don't really need an NVMe for gaming but less cables makes better viewing especially when prices are similar.

If you're not planning to keep the GPU for too long then you could look into open box or refurbished units with short warranties. Also r/hardwareswap/

You could additionally save a bit by going for a 2600 instead. It'll OC similar to the X model. Only downside is the worst cooler.

u/12bitmisfit · 1 pointr/buildapc

It'd be better if we had a budget for your SSD upgrade but this should do you very well for the price.

As for other upgrades, I'm not sure what your usage is exactly, I'd assume some light gaming? The CPU is pretty solid so a better video card would probably be a good direction to go eventually. I think a 1660 is a very good price/performance card that'll round out your computer a bit better.

u/5_DOLLAR_DIARRHEA · 1 pointr/buildapc

Swap the SATA SSD for an NVME, Amazon has the Sabrent 256GB NVME for $30 www.amazon.com/Sabrent-SB-ROCKET-256-Rocket-Internal-Performance/dp/B07KGLN3HN/

u/kuroti · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Hey nice builds, i would make a small change on the 986, i would put this ssd instead https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KGLN3HN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_vDCqDb7JXQE09?vs=1

Same price, 4 times the performance and 2 less cables to worry about. It even goes for sale as low as 29.99 sometimes.

u/JerHawkins37 · 1 pointr/Amd

Not sure what the price difference is but you can prob get your cost down by going with a Vega 56 instead. Easy to overclock and more than enough power for 1080p @ 144hz.
Other than that, the build is pretty much perfectly set up. Can see you've done your research.
Only other suggestion would be getting a 128GB-256GB SSD for a separate boot drive so your 1tb can be all games and work

Pretty awesome deal for a really fast boot drive

u/lego950 · 1 pointr/DestinyTheGame

Could I hook up an m.2 and get the same result? I'll link ot if I can find the one I'm talking about

That with a enclosure

u/helkeek · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

Yeah, the case supports both 2.5 & 3.5.

I like using only SSDs for both boot & storage but you can definitely get something smaller for a lot cheaper. If you're using it only to boot the OS, a 250gb one should be able to do the trick.
