Look for a color that you like, then turn the bottle over. If you can see the mixing balls inside, it's more sheer. If you can't see the balls, it's probably pretty opaque. Orly and Essie both have quite a few. In fact, Orly and Sally Hansen sell kits that are meant specifically for French manicures. For example, this one. I've never used one, but I'd say it's probably the kind of thing you want!
