OP get yourself an M.2 NVMe drive. It won't take up any space and is a massive performance improvement from those HDDs. A rig with those specs has gotta be running off m.2:

Wow! There is currently a deal for the 500GB version on Amazon for $147.99 but the 1TB version is $354!

So go to Amazon if you're looking for the 500GB, but go to Newegg if you want the 1TB

The HDD is perhaps the best bang for the buck HDD out there in the market. However, the SSD seems a little expensive for what it is. Seagate isn't the best company for SSDs. You can find a Samsung 970 Evo 500GB for $10 less and Samsung currently makes the best SSDs in the market. Other options include the Western Digital Black SN750 which you could easily find for the same price as the 970 Evo. If you want a cheaper alternative without sacrificing day-to-day performance, I would recommend the Intel 660p. It's a QLC SSD where there are 4 bits stored in each cell instead of TLC where there are 3 bits stored in each cell. This gives you lower performance but massively cheaper compared to TLC drives. Both the SN750 and 970 Evo are TLC drives therefore are more expensive than the 660p. This drop in performance is not noticeable at all if all you do is gaming, web browsing and the usual stuffs consumers use their laptops for. The Sabrent Rocket is also a great budget option for an NVMe drive. It's a TLC drive which you could find for as low as $70 for the 512 GB model.

u/JagSKX · 3 pointsr/laptops

Let's start with a relatively inexpensive business laptop and work down from there if price is an major issue. Click the following link to Lenovo's site for the ThinkPad Edge E Series laptops. You want to look at the 15.6" E595 and 14" E495 models. These laptops are currently on sale; a 30% discount. They are new model laptops with no reviews it seems. These laptops use AMD's Ryzen APUs (their terminology for a CPU with integrated graphics) as opposed to Intel's 8th generation Core series CPUs; the E590 and E490 laptops; which are a little more expensive.

https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpad-e-series/c/thinkpade?IPromoID=LEN588747

Regardless if your co-worker wants the 14" or 15.6" version, the upgrades will be the same.

  1. Upgrade from the dual core Ryzen 3 3200u to the quad core Ryzen 5 3500u. Overall, better processing performance which gives the laptop better longevity.
  2. Upgrade the RAM from 4GB to 8GB; the 4GB + 4GB option generally gives a little better performance than a single 8GB stick of RAM for.... technical reasons. Be aware, increasing the from 4GB to 8GB is pretty expensive at $76 before the sale discount is taken into consideration. However, it is highly recommended that a laptop should have at least 8GB of RAM. With 4GB of RAM Windows 10 can run out of RAM quickly which can make the laptop feel sluggish as it swaps data between the RAM and the hard drive. Note that it is a lot less expensive to purchase 4GB of RAM and install it yourself. See further below.
  3. Upgrade the 1366x768 resolution screen to 1920x1080 resolution. The higher the resolution, the more information can fit on the screen at once.

At this point the 15.6" E595 will cost $739 as configured which includes upgrading the RAM; that is after the discount. The laptop comes with a 1TB hard drive which should be plenty of storage. However, SSDs (Solid State Drives) are the preferred storage medium now. They have much faster read / write speeds which means a laptop will be more responsive. For example, my laptops with Windows 10 installed on a SSD can boot to the desktop within 20 seconds and that includes typing in my password. On the other hand, my old 2013 Dell laptop which only has a hard drive takes roughly 80 seconds to boot to the desktop.

The trade off with a SSD comes down to capacity and price. SSDs have decreased a lot in price, but they are still more expensive... and similar to the RAM, Lenovo does charge a premium for upgrading to a SSD. Businesses general mark up prices to cover cost and earn a profit. Removing the 1TB hard drive will automatically configure the laptop with a m.2 format (like a gum stick) 256GB SSD and increase the price to $832... so 1/4 the storage capacity but a $100 price increase.

    ==============================================

With regards to the RAM it is less expensive to purchase it and install it yourself. RAM is typically the easiest component to upgrade in a laptop. You can purchase a new stick of Crucial 4GB DDR4 RAM for as low as around $21 from resellers at Amazon, pick one that has good feedback. Lenovo charges $76 for the 4GB RAM upgrade; with the 30% discount that works out to $53. So purchasing and installing the RAM can shave off roughly $30 depending on which Amazon seller you buy the RAM from and lowers the overall price of the laptop to about $709 before taxes and shipping.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B019FRDKWI/ref=dp_olp_all_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=all

    ==================================================

Getting back the SSD... If your coworker prefers to have a SSD for a more responsive experience with the laptop, I recommend that it should be added to laptop after it is purchased rather than configure it the E595 or E495 with the m.2 256GB SSD.

Note that there are two different interfaces for the m.2 slot; the more common, less expensive and slower version (still a hell of a lot faster than a hard drive) is called SATA III. The other interface is PCIe NVME or simply PCIe and that is one these laptops have.

For $90, the highly rated Samsung 970 EVO 500GB SSD can be purchased. Do so will bring the total price of the laptop near the cost of configuring the laptop with a 256GB SSD at Lenovo's website which also removes the 1TB hard drive. Doing this way for nearly the same price, the laptop will have the 1TB hard drive and a 500GB SSD. Samsung also has propriety are software (only works with Samsung SSDs) that you can download which allows the operating system and any other data to be cloned to the SSD and is pretty much bulletproof. The only limitation is if all of the data to be cloned on the 1TB hard drive exceeds the capacity of the 500GB SSD, then the software will not allow you to proceed.

Beautiful tiny PC but here's a very friendly price break down. I'm using new prices here from Amazon except for the fan. This isn't taking into consideration whether the parts are a day or a year old they are officially used and if you go off of even good/average to great /r/hardwareswap deals this would be quite cheaper and it's hard to add a building tax to a community full of builders.

CPU $200 - Ryzen 3600

MOBO $129 - MSI B450i

GPU $320 - RTX 2060

NVME $90 - Samsung 970 Evo

RAM $90 - XPG 3200 MHz 16GB RGB

COOLER $40 - Noctua NH-L9a

FAN $24 - 25mm 4000 RPM Delta Fan

PSU $90 - OP's model is OOS

Custom SFF Cables - $30-50

CASE - GEEEK A30 + Riser Cable + Shipping = $100.67 (for me)

This is $1,113 for everything, basically new.

I don't really think it's a terrible price at all but the nature of this sub seems to be getting great deals so you can pretty much build a PC you would have never had if you just bought everything new on Amazon etc, especially since I believe this sub is full of PC builders. I have seen some absurd deals on this sub reddit that make me want to quit my job so I can just refresh constantly and that's because I've had a full system for awhile. Just a little food for thought for anybody. With some commitment to checking here you can get a great build for way below retail cost of the parts.

These are worlds faster than SSDs, if your laptop has a slot for one. Funny enough laptops in the last few years had unused slots for these because the slots are so small.

You could try and cancel your order if you feel strongly about upgrading your drive. As you can see, you can buy a top of the line Samsung drive for the same price as the SSD upgrade.

Good changes for sure, I would look into either an M.2 SSD or Intel Optane for your HDD. Been doing research on them for my build and they seem super nice. Also, if there is a Microcenter near you, 8700K is 30 bucks off that Amazon listing.

What quality do you want the games to be? In Pakistan gaming parts are insanely expensive, my GTX 1060 cost me nearly 40,000 alone. I'd recommend just not buying parts here if it's possible for delivery from abroad.

If you're sure, what city do you live in? I can recommend some general parts you might want to aim for in that range.

  • CPU: Ryzen 5 2600 (an X isn't necessary)
  • GPU: Get either a Radeon RX 580 (I'd recommend this) or a GTX 1060 (wouldn't recommend now with the shift to DX12 but it's not a huge difference)
  • RAM: Stick with either 8gb or 16gb, if you have the remaining money go for 16 gb but make sure you go for dual channel (two sticks totaling one amount) meaning 2x4 or 2x8. The fps difference between dual channel and single channel is a lot.
  • Motherboard: MSI B450 Tomahawk (you should read up on compatibility it has with the ryzen, you may need to install some drivers, if you're interested I can read up on it and tell you myself.)
  • Storage: Go for an SSD, forget HDDs since the performance difference between a SSD to an HDD is quite insane. An older samsung 970 evo is likely the perfect choice for you.

As for your PSU, cooling and case. Stick to air cooling and see what cases you have in terms of availability nearby, people really try to rip you off. This thermaltek case is what I got in Karachi for around 8000 Rs. You probably won't need additional fans with this so the cooling is mostly eh.

As for PSUs, never cheap out on these. I'm not entirely sure about the availability here in Pakistan, but it depends on your parts really. You will likely need a stabilizer to ensure your computer isn't blown up incase of short circuits, load shedding or low voltage. I'd recommend the EVGA 650 GQ but once again, EVGA doesn't sell in Pakistan so I'll have to look into it.

I think you may get these within your budget or you may or may not end up going outside your budget because of the GPU. If you're gonna order online or get retail it also changes things. Feel free to ask any questions, also check out groups on facebook like Pakistani PC Gamers as u/muhammad1236 recommended, you might be able to learn a bit more since I'm not invested in the Pakistani market (made my pc a year ago) but I can give you the general outlook.
u/[deleted] · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I can't speak to SATA, but in NVME the Samsung 970 Evo line seems worth the price bump. A Crucial P1 500gb costs $67 USD and reads/writes 2,000/1,700 mb/s. A Samsung 970 Evo 500gb costs $90 USD and reads/writes 3,500/2,500 mb/s. For a 34% bump in price from the P1, you get a read/write bump of 75%/47%.

Like I said, I don't have any of the SATA drive mentions and I can't really speak to their performance. But at least in NVME, there is a credible argument to be made favor of Samsung (which is why I bought a 970 Evo and not a Crucial P1).

Then again, for pure gaming, you don't really need that bump in speed. A SATA SSD will serve you just fine. I simply had the money to spare and it seemed worth it.

u/ajb228 · 2 pointsr/buildapc

IMO, you may ditch the M.2+SSD and replace it with a traditional spinner like the 2TB WD Blue and beef up your SSD with this, there is a later possibility that 1TB SSD may fill later so invest in HDD if you want to install more games later.

u/TheKoolKidzKlub · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Looks great! Only thing I would suggest is if you have an extra 40-50 dollars upgrade to a Samsung nvme sad. Will be much faster than the adata and I believe there is a sale on the 970 evo

u/TheBode7702Vocoder · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Oh come on man, give me a break. No need to be on a high horse with this one...

It's still 4x faster than an HDD. The original drive the OP linked was also SATA anyway and the WD M.2 I linked was priced the same, so at least there was an improvement in form-factor. Like, I understand if I was suggesting a SATA drive that cost the same as a PCIe drive, but I wasn't. There are clear price differences between those options and as a consumer you have to gauge the pros and cons versus the pricing.

Sure, Samsungs have a better reputation. They have direct control of their chips, controllers, and firmware sure; better warranties in general too. But that's a personal choice; if you want to pay the premium to get that little extra squirt of peace-of-mind, then that's up to you. All brands have finite failure rates and quality control issues. It's not like WD is notoriously bad or anything, and Samsung is not perfectly flawless either.

If OP cares about the speed benefit of PCIe and doesn't mind paying the premium, then get the Mushkin PILOT at $129 as the budget option, or pay extra for the Samsung 970 EVO at $168 if the price difference is worth that little extra peace of mind. Personally, I think it's perfectly fine to opt for the budget options for non-critical personal use. The failure rates across different brands are so negligible anyway that I don't think it's worth bending your head over.

u/raistlin65 · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Photoshop won't care if you buy a more expensive GPU. And I might be wrong, but I think for video editing it won't matter either. What can help is more RAM. You can google your different production programs to find out if having 32GB of RAM would help much over 16GB for the specific work you do.

It could help to get an M.2 NVME drive since those are superior for working with very, very large files (video editing) to SSD's that use SATA. Here is a replacement for what you have selected: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-EVO-500GB-MZ-V7E500BW/dp/B07BN4NJ2J Since your motherboard does not have a built-in heatsink, you would want to check the temperatures on the NVME card using HWiNFO64 when video editing to make certain it is not getting too hot. You could always add a heatsink to it for under $20.

You said in another comment you had around 600-800 to spend, so I'll break it down like this.

NVME SSD;
~$100
Samsung 970 EVO 500GB - NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 SSD (MZ-V7E500BW) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BN4NJ2J/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_w1GkDb5M852TC

GPU;
~$370
Radeon 5700
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TFRMJXH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Z9GkDbMWVA7XB

OR
~$500
Nvidia 2070
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JGJCX1J/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_7aHkDb126KN06
Personally I would go with the Radeon since it's giving you close to 2070 performance for about 2/3rds of the price according to reviews.

Both those upgrades are on the low end of your budget and will improve your desktop immensely.

EDIT;
Also if you are actually using that USB wireless dongle, get a pcie card. They're like 20 to 30 bucks at the absolute most for a name brand card.

I can help you with the m.2 at least, my friend found a great deal last night, Amazon.

Check out the price history.

Awesome! I've added everything in the cart.

I wanted to buy everything from amazon and they didn't have that power supply in stock yet but I found a 750 Watt for same 69.99

Also the SSD went for the Samsung 970 EVO 500GB - NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 SSD (MZ-V7E500BW) .

Because the one you mentioned was not available at amazon.

Hope this is ok.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the quick response, I asked because that is what the Lenovo rep suggested I should get. However, they didn't mention anything about the cable...and tried to sell me their SSD. I decided to buy the parts you suggested and went with the Samsung 970 Evo

You need a beefy cooler with the 8700k.

Also if you can, get the newer 970 evo .

I'm talking about WD Black NVMe and 970 Evo instead of the 960 Evo you have selected, which is more expensive from retailers. The WD Black and 970 Evo are also faster.

u/MisterMeowgi_ · 1 pointr/buildapc

I would go with this as a boot drive over what you have. Also, that gpu is maybe a little overkill for 1080p gaming. You're better off spending your money on a 1440p monitor. You'll get more for your money that way.

u/iWizardB · 1 pointr/GamingLaptops

Samsung 970 Evo 250 GB is $110 and 500 GB is $80...!!?

Amazon PerfectFit checker at the top of that page says

> We're not sure this item fits your ACER PREDATOR HELIOS 300 315-52-78VL

Anyway, I have a question.

Is it ok to have these storage combination -

256 GB NVMe PCIe SSD (the default storage that came in the laptop) + 512 GB NVMe PCIe SSD (new stick that I'll buy) + 1 TB 2.5" SATA SSHD (I had bought it last year and is lying unused.) on the same laptop? Is there any strict requirement like both SSDs must be of same capacity (like in case of RAM)?

u/ZakTaccardi · 1 pointr/buildapc

Will my PC fully support an NVMe SSD, such as these:

u/gregz83 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

You are asking for a lot of problems trying to run a drive from a previous PC without a Clean install of Windows.

If you are trying to save the license, you may lose that anyway when it detects a new motherboard and CPU.

I would suggest you get a new OS drive: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-EVO-500GB-MZ-V7E500BW/dp/B07BN4NJ2J/

However, if you are determined to use that existing drive, just do a clean install of Windows, you will need to make a flash drive with the Media Creation Tool:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

If you need a new license, you don't need to spend $100+

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhnaCCPrSLM , I've used before 3 times now, never a problem.

u/DavidN21481 · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

OP needs to fix the price for used Samsung 960 EVO 250GB. Asking $100 is wayyyyy too much.

Brand new Samsung 970 EVO 500GB (double the capacity of 250GB) from Amazon is only $90.

https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-EVO-500GB-MZ-V7E500BW/dp/B07BN4NJ2J

u/SgtPepperhands · 1 pointr/buildapc

I agree with what a lot has been said so far. The 3600x is only the smallest improvement over the 3600 and definetly not worth the price, in my opinion. The 3600 is the best bang for your buck CPU and all you really need for gaming.

I would reccomnd trying to find a nvme pcie ssd, right now you have a m.2 sata which uses a sata connection so it's just about the same speeds as your standard ssd. I don't know what prices are like in Canada (Im in the US) but I can get a 500gb pcie samsung ssd for 90 bucks and the read/write speed is 3500mbs/2500mbs vs 560mbs/530mbs respectively. It's a huge increase in speed. Samsung 970 EVO 500GB - NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 SSD (MZ-V7E500BW) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BN4NJ2J/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_r0bBDbQ1P13YQ

Also I would get a better pcu. You want to shoot for a 80+ gold or higher, gold is kinda your standard, as anything below, especially bronze, is a lot less efficient and adds excess heat into your system. I like evga but a lot swear by corsair or coolermaster. Up to you.

I would also say that the Radeon 5700xt is a better gpu that out performs the 2060 super as well as being a better price but if you are set in gsync and or just like Nvidia products I get that. If you decide to get the 5700xt I would suggest getting an aftermarket one with a better blower.

Good luck my dude and happy building!

u/zerostyle · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

I don't think this is true?

Samsung's 970 EVO (not pro) 500gb NVME drive is only $167, and other models are even cheaper.

Western digital's black nvme is $160.

Looks like prices have dipped.

Even the stats on the $136 Adata XPG SX8200 look quite good.

u/Misspells_Just · 1 pointr/buildapc

Which M.2 SSD would you recommend pairing with a 2TB HDD for normal applications (OS and games)?

u/californiaCabotage · 1 pointr/buildapc

Is swap the SSD for a 970 Evo. Making a computer "snappy" for office work is pretty much just have a fast SSD.

https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-EVO-500GB-MZ-V7E500BW/dp/B07BN4NJ2J/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?keywords=960+evo+plus&qid=1558453753&s=gateway&sprefix=960+evo+p&sr=8-1

Also, if you're into that sort of thing - undervolt your CPU when you get it for cooler temps (less noise) for the same performance.

u/pho1701 · 1 pointr/buildapc

I think you should buy a M.2 NVMEe drive like a Samsung 970 Evo https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-EVO-250GB-MZ-V7E250BW/dp/B07BN4NJ2J?th=1

Some posters discourage buying these because they don't always provide a tangible benefit despite being more expensive than SATA SSDs (Samsung 860 Evo in your build is a SATA SSD). I think you might see some benefit in some of your processes and you do not seem constrained by a limited budget.

u/Jana4Evar · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

Looking at the SSD storage, I would go with Samsung 970 EVO M.2 500GB SSD
https://www.amazon.ca/Samsung-970-EVO-250GB-MZ-V7E250BW/dp/B07BN4NJ2J/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1541533136&sr=8-3&keywords=nvme%2Bssd%2Bm.2&th=1
Well worth the 100$ price bump for the same 500GB. Or even 256GB is more than enough if you want to keep the same price as the ADATA.
Significant READ/WRITE performance ! 3,500 MB/s & 2,500 MB/s compared to 560/520.

Maybe since the the air only has 2x pcie lanes but it is faster than any other drive out their for the machine. As far as money the plug and play owc kit is $220 for 480gb while the Samsung 970 evo is currently $120 with prices as low as $100 being seen frequently for 500gb and the adapter $17 bucks. The actual work took me an afternoon but in the end I saved 80-100 dollars, got to learn more about my machine, and most importantly extended the life of my air as storage limitations compared to the other machines was it’s main flaw.

I just swapped mine out for the Samsung 970 evo. I also had the liteon although I was not having any problems with it, I didn't want to wait around for a possible failure. I am not too sure if it is the drive itself or the windows nvme driver for it. I have read that some suspect it is the driver from Microsoft causing problems. I didn't use magician to transfer my stuff though. I used easus todo tools. Do download magician though as there is a firmware update for the drive and also do download the nvme driver if you decide to do this.

u/Generico300 · 1 pointr/techsupport

They typically come in either 2.5" form factor (which looks like this), or what's called an M.2 form factor (which looks like this). You'll need to open up your laptop and see which one it has. Then buy one like that. Obviously the branding might not be the same in your case, but the general size and shape will be.

u/Michiganders · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

You'll want any m.2 SSD and any 260pin SODIMM ram stick.

Two example SSD's include the Crucial P1 and 970 EVO. An example ram stick is the Crucial 8GB.

u/GuitarCFD · 1 pointr/buildapc

So I see quite a few suggestions on CPU's and RAM, but the one I see staring me in the face is this:

>Storage Inland 480 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive $51.99 @ Amazon

Good for you going for an SSD as your system drive, but for another $30 you can get the Samsung 970 EVO nvme drive that is MUCH faster and much better quality. I want you to picture this. From powered off to Windows loaded and ready to go in 5 seconds.

SSD is good, nvme is God Tier. Read below

Inland 480GB 2.5" solid state drive

Read Speed: 550 MB/s

Write Speed: 490 MB/s

Compared to the 970 EVO nvme:

Read Speed: 3500 MB/s

Write Speed: 2500 MB/s

That's the difference you get for $30

I'm going to disagree with u/ChiliPeanut on his Storage Philosophy. I think you went the correct route looking for an SSD as your system drive and then having a disk drive as extra storage. If you ever decide to stream, or record your game play...you don't want to be constantly writing to and erasing video on a SSD...especially when that SSD is your ONLY drive. Disk drives handle the write to: function much better right now.

u/B1Gassfan · 1 pointr/CFB

If you did want a laptop I would totally snag this or this. Both have enough hardware to play current AAA titles and will last for a few years for sure

If you do want to part out a PC to build Amazon might not be the most cost effective so check a bunch of different sites to make sure before pulling the trigger (including microcenter if there's one near you). Here's a decent start list though:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 $199.99

GPU: Zotac RTX 2070 $556.43

Mobo: Gigabyte x470 Aorus Ultra Gaming $124.90

RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance 3000mhz $69.99

Storage: Samsung 970 Evo m.2 nvme 500GB for OS/select programs $89.99

2TB Seagate Firecuda SSHDD for library storage, if necessary $59.99

PSU: EVGA 650W, 80 plus gold rated fully modular PSU $97.06

OS: [OEM Win10](https://www.amazon.com/Windows-Home-English-Language-Product/dp/B07TW6G6JP/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=windows+10&qid=1563210474&s=gateway&sr=8-7]. $72.00 Not need if you already have. Pretty sure you can get even cheaper OEM copies out there. Or y'know, other means. Or Linux, etc

Total: $1270.35 including the OEM Win10 which you may or may not need

Missing items: monitor, mouse, keyboard, case. Compared to the prebuilt at $1499.99 that leaves you $229.64 to get a case & any necessary peripherals, upgrade any items on the list, or just pocket the 'savings'

The ibuypower one linked doesn't appear to be that bad. But when reading the comments there are people who got the 8700k version for $1350 (currently $1433, one you linked "on sale" for 1499.99)...so pricing might be misleading. Also keep in mind SI's need to make a profit and usually skimp when it comes to things like cooling, storage and motherboards. I can't tell what mobo that has, but it shouldn't be much of an issue unless you want to overclock, probably not as good components and features as what I listed though. The cooling is actually pretty nice with the cpu watercooling at that price. But not sure on how it is for the other components (ie system case fans). The storage is a bit shit, with a smaller sata ssd and a smaller much slower mechanical hdd. The RAM isn't much better, going off amazon reviews it's basically no name ram at 2666mhz. Also they use a generic 600W psu and apparently the included mouse and keyboard stink. So gotta take the good with the bad but the one I price out looks like a much better option across the board and leaves you room to pick and choose certain upgrades n such

u/Timae09 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Maybe your running a slow SSD? Mine on PCIe 2.0 (sata) maxes out at around 550MB/s up and down constant, which is as fast as my motherboard will allow for. Years of use and no slow down. I've got this.

Before my current SSD my previous one would slow down to 20MB/s after years of use. It's a massive 20x speed increase from the previous gen ssds.

The next gen PCIe 3.0 ones run at gigabytes a second (see), and the current ones coming out for PCIe 4.0 run at around 5.5GB/s, a 10x speed increase from my generation.

Not all SSDs are equal.

Well, you can OC the 3600 to 3600X clocks with a decent aftermarket CPU cooler. The X570 mobo is supposed to be better optimized for the 3000 series chipset and shouldn't require a BIOS update for out of the box compatibility. That being said the X570's are a little overpriced at the moment and Ryzen's backward compatibility between CPUs and mobos with AM4 socket is a feature worth taking advantage of IMO.

Out of the box, the 3600X may not work properly until you update the X470 BIOS, but after that, it will perform better at stock settings compared to the 3600 at stock. If you take into account overclocking the CPU, then the 3600 is just as fast/powerful as the 3600X when paired with a solid CPU cooler.

This SSD if you have PRIME, if not then the one you chose is honestly fine.

I use this SSD in my own rig.
