My little samsung laser printer toner cartridge lasted me about 6 months before it told me I needed to replace my cartridge and then (declining to replace it) after about 2 years the pages were finally fading enough I felt the need to replace it. I don't print all that much though. The toner cartridge cost me about $60. Definitely worth it.

Just looked it up: bought my printer Sept. 8, 2015. Bought my replacement toner when it told me I needed to (that I didn't put in) on July 16th, 2016. Finally swapped it in on March 15th, 2018.

I do. Go look at the product page for any product. That's how product pages work. Look. I'll show you. I went to Amazon and typed in "Samsung printer." I clicked on the first non-sponsored link.

Here's the short blurb:

This is the standard way copy is written. You always emphasize your strengths and differentiators first. That's why paper sizes and ink cartridges are listed last. Paper sizes are standard so there's no difference between one printer and another, and ink cartridges are a necessary evil.

Here's another example from the Vive Pro product page:

> Enhanced Optics

> Optimized Ergonomics

> High-Res Soundstage

They emphasize the optics first because that's the Vive Pro's main selling point. It has better graphics. Then, they talk about the improved ergonomics. That's their second main area of improvement. It's bog standard.

edit: For that matter, look at the Rift S page. The first thing they emphasize is their game library, not the quality of the display because they know their display isn't their main selling point. The entire section after that is about their exclusives. They only mention the slightly improved resolution third, and the actual resolution specs are nowhere to be found in contrast to the Vive Pro page. The tracking gets late billing because it's a trade-off that some will see as a plus and some will see as a minus.

I use the Samsung SL-C1860FW/XAA. I watched it on CamelCamelCamel.com for months until it dropped in price because I wanted a color printer with scanning abilities. (Paid $214 for it) I prefer laser over ink - costs less per page, you don't have to worry about crusted over ink jets from waiting too long in between printings, and fewer moving parts = fewer repairs, less chance of breaking.

However if you're only wanting black and white with no scanning they make these models also. If you live off campus I'd suggest getting the model with a scanner.

Samsung Xpress SL-M2835DW/XAA

Samsung Xpress SL-M2070FW/XAA - B/W with scanning

If you scroll down on those pages, there's a side by side comparison of all Samsung laser printers.

> Should I get a printer?

If you have some cash to spare, I picked up a cheaper monochrome laser printer (they print really nice, and toner is super cheap). Super convenient if I was in a rush, or didn't wanna leave my dorm room. I'd probably suggest it. Something like a Samsung or Brother.

> How would rushing work if I'm in an LC? Just wait til later?

Shouldn't interfere at all. I rushed first semester freshman year and was in an LC. There was a good number of guys all on my floor that joined different houses.

This is my laser printer, it's been great, still on the toner it came with after 2 years.
