Actually a bit difficult because interestingly many of the current NVMEs were originally manufactured under the same name as AHCI based formats. You just need to pay very close attention and make sure the SSD is clearly labeled as AHCI, not NVME.

The Samsung SM951 I just mentioned is a good example:

There is likely a list of the exact model numbers, but I haven’t seen it.

Edit: They are actually easy to spot... the 512GB models run between $400-500. ;)

> Oh ok, never even heard of those.

That's mainly because Samsung sold these drives to systems builds and OEMs, not the general public. You can tell by the name. SM951 isn't exactly a clean name like 950 Pro is.

No they can't read that fast, but honestly I doubt that the CPU's will be able to process that much anyway. I think you're assuming that the CPU will actually processing 1 second of footage per second which may be unlikely. In any case, there are some PCIe and M.2 ssd's that can reach speeds close to there.
edit: although this motherboard doesn't have M.2 support, so it'd have to be PCIe (more expensive).
edit 2: although I guess you could get something liek this and then an adapter like this

There is a AHCI version of the 950 Pro that you can boot from.

No, that wouldn't work unless they make it in the right format, and I don't think they come in the 2280 types.

here is the one that comes in them stock in the 512GB size, if that's the way you're looking to go with it. Keep in mind these are much faster than any 850 Evo.

I'd definitely recommend a different NVME SSD for this build. That Samsung is ridiculous overpriced for the performance it offers.

Samsung SM951 would get 4x the speed @ 15.00 more.
