when looking for a TV for an average viewer, which I'd say is 90% of people (not a videophile). I recommend A) buy a brand you've heard of, Samsung, Vizio, LG, Panasonic, Sony, etc. don't get a Sanyo, Dynex or some other off brand.
B) Get the largest TV you can get in your budget. For most people, they will enjoy a 50" TV more than a slightly better looking 40" TV.
Here are some TV's that should work, all are under $700: The vizio has the most HDMi inputs out of these 3, but you can always buy an HDMI switch box if you have a ton of devices.
