Same price on Amazon

u/Lurkers-gotta-post · 10 pointsr/amazonreviews

Frequently an Amazon page will have several related products on the same page, but as different "versions".

for example

There are far more extreme instances than this, where perhaps one option is a bike, and another is a bike cover, and a third is a padding set, or even more unrelated products. They all share the same product page, question forums and reviews even though they have a different product description, which can make it really hard to find info on the specific "version" you are looking for.

Looks like Amazon is price matching - only reason I thought to look was I bought this for my parents computer a few months ago.

u/DrunkDeathClaw · 4 pointsr/NASCAR

Have you seen how cheap hard drives are nowadays?, You can get a 2TB drive for $50.

If you estimate around 40GB/hr, One game would take up 120GB, Which would be able to fit 15x onto a 2TB hard drive.

Just because some people can't do something doesn't mean that you should prevent people with the means from doing it.

u/Dylan014able · 3 pointsr/buildapcforme

If you plan on getting a lot of games, I'd get a HDD too for more storage because games are getting really big lol

https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-BarraCuda-Internal-Drive-3-5-Inch/dp/B07H2RR55Q/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=2tb+hdd&qid=1569707871&sr=8-3

Is this worth an extra $20 than the Seagate BarraCuda 2TB HDD which $65 right now?

u/Fpritt24 · 3 pointsr/buildapcsales

Depends on how fast you want to build your computer and if you want to save some money or not. I used PcPartPicker’s price alerts to alert me when things went on sale over the course of 2 months and saved 20% on my build cost by buying piecewise over 2 months.

$50 2TB HDD:

u/tuura032 · 2 pointsr/buildapcforme

Fair enough. There are more reviews on other sites and topics on related subs, but your point is well taken. Especially at this budget.

Edit: For clarity sake, it looks like I linked the wrong product with a similar name. This is what I was referring to. 4.5 stars and 189 reviews. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07H2RR55Q/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_4?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

u/TeleHamete · 2 pointsr/bapccanada

well I have made you a pc build for your requirements https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/Hamete/saved/#view=f2gCLk

I bumped up the hdd to 2tb because 1tb feels small and i manually put in the price because this amazon listing doesn't show up also if you want go for tlc 1tb m.2 ssd their not that expensive anymore the ex920 can be had for 175$

u/e60deluxe · 2 pointsr/buildapc

sorry, two seperate issues, and you are correct.

I though you linked the older black with the older controller. But what you linked is a guess the SN720 which isnt much different, but either way its literally $2 to get the SN750
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MH2P5ZD/ref=psdc_1292116011_t1_B07BR9FV1C

then as the second issue, replace the 1tb spinner with a 2tb spinner.
this is literally $5 more for double the storage:

https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-BarraCuda-Internal-Drive-3-5-Inch/dp/B07H2RR55Q/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=2tb+7200&qid=1572671587&s=electronics&sr=1-3

u/sk9592 · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I would recommend getting this WD Blue 2TB for $50:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JC1TQ7N

This Seagate drive is also available for $55:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H2RR55Q/

Frankly, the Seagate drive is faster and has a larger cache. This will help a bit with cutting down on game load times. But Seagate has had a terrible reputation in the past with reliability and high failure rate.

Also, if you have a Ryzen CPU, look into AMD StoreMI. It enables you to merge your SSD and hard drive into a single storage pool and get the benefits of both:

Good pick (: You’ll enjoy it.

Seagate BarraCuda 2TB Internal Hard Drive https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H2RR55Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_liLJDbFZW55GE)

$50 for 2TB at 7200rpm. Very good.

Also, I’d suggest looking into upgrading the PSU. 650w is good. 750w is the sweet spot. You’ll be giving your system extra headroom, which prolongs the PSUs lifespan and allows you to freely make upgrades without worrying about upgrading your PSU in the future. You’ll have that extra wattage covered, if needed, and that peace of mind and save on the extra hassle is worth it imo.

It also prolongs the lifespan of the PSU since your system is using less watts than it requires. If your PSU is also equipped with eco mode or quiet mode, it’ll only use the fan when it reaches a certain wattage. If your PSU is well above what your system requires, good chance you won’t ever need the fan, so it’s good for a quiet system.

Companies also typically save their best features, parts, warranties, etc. for their higher rated efficiency and wattage PSUs. That’s also another reason to get a good one. It’s not a requirement, but it’s a good idea to get a good one right off the bat.

https://www.jonnyguru.com is a good place to figure out which PSUs are good.

You can get that same Seagate drive from Amazon for $20 cheaper. Other than that she looks good. Good luck with the build!

u/Jalambo · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I have a few comments:

Nice choice of case, it is a very low-key simplistic sophisticated look, and very nice to build in

That hard drive has to change, you have 1TB at $45, you can get the same model in 2TB for only $5 more here

I've never heard of Transcend storage products, I may live under a rock but idk if thats very reliable, you can get a 250GB ssd from Crucial which is more well known (to me at least) for the same price here

Other than that, good looking build, welcome to PCMR!

u/Zolt56 · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Heads up: you can get an identical Seagate Barracuda 2TB for $25 less and 4 times higher cache: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H2RR55Q/

u/Eagle0913 · 2 pointsr/buildapcsales

Personally I would rather have - 2 Tb @7200RPM

But the drive in the post would be perfect for movies/pictures & bulk storage like you mentioned.

u/bountyman34 · 2 pointsr/hardwareswap

Your custom built is pretty overpriced.

  • 7700k sold for $220

  • 1070s routinely sell for $220-240

  • New 2TB HDD retails for $50

  • 1TB 860 Evo can be had for $107

  • Cryorig R1 can be had for $60

  • 5 new RGB fans can be had for $50

  • New DVD Drive for $20

  • 800W PSU sold for $30.

  • Decent case for $66.

The sum of all those equals about $850. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and add $150 to cover taxes/fees/price adjustments. The new total is $1000.

Good prices on the other things you have for sale though.

I was looking though that sub and I can see how it can turn into /r/homelab but hopefully it doesn't. Insted of using DDNS I was just going to have my url point to my IP then forward to my NAS. I'm not worried about bandwidth since I'm on an unmetered plan.

As for redundancy I agree it's important. I was looking at buying three of these in RAID5. I'm not sure if I need a raid controller. I'm charting into new uncharted territory for me. But this should be fun.

Also my current router has OpenWRT on it so maybe that well give me some networking flexibility also.

u/Chopper0130 · 1 pointr/buildapc

I see your in Canada because some of parts are coming from Canada Computers. I would scrape that 1TB WD hdd and get a 2TB Seagate barracuda better drive and $30 cheaper on amazon.

2TB Seagate barracuda

Also if your considering a 2060 super then just go get an RX 5700 XT it way outperforms the 2060 super

2tb 7200 rmp hard drive (I assume a desktop machine?):
https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-BarraCuda-Internal-Drive-3-5-Inch/dp/B07H2RR55Q/

However...it might be a good time to upgrade your machine to an SSD. You can buy a 500gb ssd for around $60, or a 1tb ssd for around $120. Moving from an hdd to an ssd makes a big improvement in system responsiveness - my laptop went from 2-3 minutes to boot, to 20-30 seconds to boot with an ssd. Menus open faster, subtle lag goes away, it really makes a big difference.

You could then use your current hdd as extra storage space.

u/77xak · 1 pointr/buildapc

Ok, I see the reasoning now, it's because you can install two 2.5" drives onto the single adapter. I would still personally go for a 3.5" drive and then just secure the SSD anywhere else that it fits. 3.5" drives are cheaper as well as faster if you get a 7200RPM model.

For example this 2TB 7200 RPM drive is roughly the same price as a 1TB 5400 RPM 2.5".

The Seagate Barracuda ( https://www.amazon.co.uk/Seagate-BarraCuda-Internal-Drive-Cache/dp/B07H2RR55Q) and the WD Blue HDDs are pretty decent, whichever is the cheapest of the two in your region is what I would go for. Just make sure its 7200rpm and sata 6Gb/s (most are).

As for WiFi cards, anything that is ac wifi (wifi 5 I believe) and is from a trusted brand should work just fine. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Gigabyte-WB1733D-I-1733Mbps-Express-Adapter/dp/B07FBSV1XZ for example, or https://www.amazon.co.uk/T6E-Archer-Wireless-Interface-Low-Profile/dp/B013HCNTZU?th=1 .

This should be pretty good, put the games you play most on the SSD, then the rest on a regular drive.

YEs the 9600k is a bit better than the 8600k, so when it's cheaper it's a no-brainer.

Do you have a list of parts you've bought?

For Hard drives/SSD's, there are a million available on shelves, choosing a good one that you can have now shouldn't be an issue but I can't suggest anything unless I know what you have!

IF it's the HDD, this 2Tb seagate barracuda is available at amazon right now £54.99 Link

u/FaisalKhatib · 1 pointr/buildapc

If it's only for gaming.

For storage... an NVMe isn't really needed for gaming. You can instead get a 1TB M2 SSD like this Crucial MX500 or get more storage in the form of a 2TB Seagate.

For the RAM. What model are the ones you have?

Also, I find all my monitors on Craigslist, even 240hz. Depends where you live though.

u/Wolvenmoon · 1 pointr/homelabsales

Yup. But 2TB 7200 RPM Seagate disk brand new, shipped for a penny less than you're asking for before shipping.

u/Gilk58 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Seems pretty good to me. If you can, you should add an HDD to store your games/stuff and keep the SSD only for the OS and drivers. This is to extend the life of the SSD as much as possible as it can only perform writes a certain amount of time. Also, maybe switching that SATA SSD for an M.2 WD Blue 500GB, which gives you higher Read and Write speeds (basically, your PC will boot and run faster).

u/captainapoll0 · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

Build I made in pcpartpicker in ~5min

At 898.93$ (917$ - 19$ since For some reason pcpartpicker lists the barracuda at 70$ when it's 50$ on amazon) the build I listed is two tiers of performance higher than the prebuilt

Newer processor, better PSU, High quality NVMe SSD, 2TB HDD that the prebuild lacks entirely, and a much better GPU (5700XT is roughly equivalent to a 2070 Super which is just below a base 2080)

As a rule of thumb building yourself will give you a tier or two higher performance at a lower or equal cost

u/tehoniehtathe29 · -5 pointsr/buildapcsales

If it's for your steam library, just get ssds. They are cheap enough so that its definitely worth it.

The use case for these is to throw into a nas or other applications where you need the hdd to run 24/7.

If you want a spinning platter, get something like this
