There's a couple options if you aren't looking for the latest and greatest, but under $250 is rough for 50" or over...here's the best deals I've seen (no guarantee on quality):

And there's always woot, and other discount sites.
Good luck sir!
Anyone can cherry pick. Here's a link to Amazon and all of it's Seiki TV's.

They seem to make decent TV's on the whole. Nothing special or fancy, but affordable as the trade-off to that. Nothing wrong with that. There's a few duds, but even top-end manufacturers experience that.
Here's a 50" Seiki TV for $350.

And here's it's price history.

Proof that you can buy an alright TV from a mediocre brand at a more than fair price. I'm honestly amazed you have upvotes. One of your links is for a 4K, which all of the manufacturers have had problems with at launch/around the time that OP bought his (Non-4K. There was never one priced that low.) Another is just some completely random comment from some actual nobody on some random message board. Like, what? Here, let me make a comment somewhere real quick and I'll link to that as a credible source of information. lol? And your first one is from one of the few actual duds that they sold at one time, which we know isn't the one the poster above bought because it's a 55", not a 50". It's lowest price was also $700, not $230.
Is this irony? People not doing a lick of any actual research in a thread primarily focused around doing research on these very type of items?
