Cotton ball, as in regular off the shelf cotton balls? You know those are bleached right? You shouldn't use those.

You don't put cotton down the wells because depending on how you setup your wick it won't properly draw in the juice. For demonstration purposes here are pictures I literally just took for the purpose of this post to demonstrate what I do:

I have 4 Griffin 25s and they are all setup this way. This is also a Scottish Roll in a 3mm diameter clapton for anyone who wants to know.

Is a better deal on better cotton imo.
Most wire is just re-branded [Temco wire] (https://temcoindustrial.com/shop/wire-cable-accessories/non-resistance-wire). Go straight to the source and pay pennies on the dollar compared to branded wire.
Cotton/wick is just about the same - just go for unprocessed/non-bleached cotton. [Shiseido] (https://www.sephora.com/product/facial-cotton-P173726), [Puff] (https://www.amazon.com/Selena-Organic-Cotton-Puff-200Pc/dp/B00N7E9YYO/ref=sr_1_3_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1509981371&sr=1-3&keywords=puffs+cotton), [Muji] (https://www.amazon.com/Makeup-Facial-Cotton-Unbleached-180pcs/dp/B00VHA3ZXQ/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1509981407&sr=1-1&keywords=muji+cotton), etc. Or get some [Rayon from Amazon] (https://www.amazon.com/Graham-Cellucotton-Beauty-Coil-Feet/dp/B001BKY3B0). $7 for enough wick to last you several years.
I use this cotton. Does not have a bad taste & is easy to wick with. Check the reviews, a lot of vapers use this brand.
For Fasttech, if an item is labeled as authentic, it should be authentic. Clones will be named "styled."
Also, for cotton, THIS should last you quite a long while.
These work great, and cheap....

$6.15
or $9.99 for a twin pack

Enough cotton for years....
Organic unbleached cotton is the norm for wicking. You can buy it super cheap from amazon in pads on amazon. Doesnt need to be any vaping brand just facial pads. Doesnt need to be boiled or anything just cut thick strips out roll it a bit and put it through the coil. It wont burn as long as the watts you are running are suitable for the coil resistance built and the wick stays wet.

I've tried a few myself. I've settled for the giant bags of organic japanese cotton that you can get on Amazon. I dont notice a difference in taste. My wallet loves it too.

Here's the two pack version
3¢/sheet vs $1/sheet @my local B&M
I bought this and it is practically a lifetime amount of cotton for me.
Amazon Cotton
I have some Japanese cotton I got off Amazon, but so far in the 12-14 times I've rewicked I've only ever used this stuff from VapeWild. I got a bunch for free in one of my orders so I figured why not use it. Any idea what it is? It says "Japanese Organic Cotton," but it looks nothing like the stuff I bought on Amazon. It seems to work pretty great, and it's much higher quality than whatever cotton ships in the box with various RDAs/RTAs.
I'll just leave this here, The cotton is great, I havent had any issues and its 11 dollars for 400 pads... eyea
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00N7E9YYO/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_a_it?qid=1457729654&sr=8-1&keywords=puff+japanese+cotton&pi=SX200_QL40 This is what I use and it's pretty great!
Using an Alien with a Goon and SS 316L claptons, core 26 gauge and wraps 36 gauge with 6/7 wraps at 3mm diameter. Tons of vapor and flavor. Only downside is that it goes through tons of liquid. I also think simple 24 gauge SS coils are great, and still produce a good amount of vapor and flavor.
I don't really like the bridge posts on the Goon-they provide a ton of space for building, but it takes me way longer to make sure a build is just right because it is so easy to jostle a coil out of place when everything is unscrewed. I think velocity style decks are way better for building on, but that's just me. However, the positives of the Goon make up for that issue, and it is my daily use RDA.
Here is the cotton I use: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00N7E9YYO/ref=pd_aw_sim_194_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=7WBX7QXC21Q5SP3EJHZY
What kind of vape do you currently have and what do you like and dislike about it?
I use this for cotton and I haven't run out in 3 years.
If you are not completely all for rayon, I'd suggest Japanese cotton.
I bought these 4 or 5 years ago and not even 1/4 way through it
https://www.amazon.com/Selena-Organic-Cotton-Puff-200Pc/dp/B00N7E9YYO/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=japanese+cotton&qid=1571150095&refinements=p_85%3A2470955011&rnid=2470954011&rps=1&s=beauty&sr=1-3
YES!!! Mine too. So much cottony goodness! I got these :D
Honestly I've bought puff and mugi off of Amazon and probably have enough cotton for atleast 2 years for under $30. If I had bought them in a B&M I probably would have spent quadruple that for 1/3 the product..... Honestly it's vape companies jacking up the prices on a dirt cheap and readily available products that makes me hate the industry some times...
Personally I don't like cotton bacon, I much prefer Puff's, Muji, Koh Gen Doh organic cotton pads. Just better flavor with less break in cottony taste for me. Also Rayon I like sometimes.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00N7E9YYO/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1482106817&sr=8-1&keywords=labo+organic+cotton&pi=SX200_QL40
Sometimes you'll find it cheaper than this too
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/s//ref=mw_dp_a_s?ie=UTF8&k=Muji
For wire I go to Advanced Vape Supply. The prices aren't necessarily better than Lightening Vapes but the selection on fused clapton wire certainly is. Lightening Vapes is frequently out of stock (even before the fire) on clapton wire, especially fused.
Cotton, I get a 2 pack bag from amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N7E9YYO/ref=ox_sc_act_title_14?smid=A3B0YH72AZETAU&psc=1
It's a total of about 400 squares right around the 8.00 mark.

This is Jap organic cotton I use. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00N7E9YYO/ref=sr_ph_1_a_it?qid=1457191217&sr=sr-1&keywords=puffs
I use cotton bacon sometimes because I bought it for some reason. It's ok.
Just get this and you'll be good for awhile
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N7E9YYO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I can see that. But when buying cotton in bulk like this that comes out to about 10$ for 400 pads, that is .02 1/2 cents a pad, then you cut one pad into multiple strips. So it may be a little wasteful but makes getting the job easier. Using some of the marketed cotton for vaping that is much more expensive, That as far as I can tell is just cotton would be more pennies cut away.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N7E9YYO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I know you said you already bought some cotton, but I found the cotton you were looking for and it's fulfilled by Amazon. It's just 2 packs instead of just one. Here

That's a pretty sweet set up to start off with! Since most of your questions are answered, might I suggest learning to build your own coils, rather than buying replaceables. In the short term it will be a bit pricey to begin with if you purchase a complete set, though many items can be replaced with simple home tools, like nail clippers and tweezers. In the long run you gain a large ammount more control, customizable experience, and save some good money.
Bare essentials you're looking to buy: A new tank, wire, a coil-jig (easy mode) or screw drivers, a large supply of cotton.
or you could pick up a kit
EDIT: Just do the math, if you change coils once a week, how long could it take for this set of things to pay for itself. Then think about how some people feel it makes the experience better.
(here)
This is what I use. I prefer the pads over the puffs. This is enough to last well over a year.

For 10 bucks you can get what is probably a 2+ year supply.

400 pads for 10 bucks
Might have to poke around Amazon, their search is horrible, for a better deal or a non add-on item version of this, but this is the cotton I use.
