Amazon has some nice replacements.

Sennheiser RCG M2 is a 1.4M replacement with inline controls. Or you can go for a replacement w/o inline controls.

  1. The sound is completely different. Wired one is more clear and balanced with a minor spike in bass and a little more in treble. I found that it's quite close to m50s. The wireless one is a lot heavier in bass, and the pair generally sounds quite dark. I decided to keep the wireless though because I like a bassy sound. When the wireless one is wired and turned off though, the sound becomes less bassy and more balanced, but also more boring (subjective of course)

  2. Yes you can, but keep in mind that while the headset is in voice call mode, its audio changes to mono, so don't expect to be listening to any music while voice chatting with someone. This is a problem with bluetooth itself. If you want to voice chat, you might want to buy an extra cable with a mic on it ( https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-RCG-M2-Momentum-Headphones/dp/B00OUKG3NE ). Make sure it's the android cable, as apple cables won't work with pcs

  3. Isolation is decent - it doesn't block voices but does well with ambient noises, which I really like actually

  4. Yes

  5. I believe you will need to send it to Sennheiser to get it replaced

  6. The cable that comes with the headphones do not include a mic, so you will run into the same problem as outlined in 2) of my post. Noise cancellation will work - you can keep it on or off when in wired mode. Volume control will only work when the headphones are turned on

  7. It's always best to try out the headphones first before you buy, but I would personally recommend the wireless ones. They're bassy, so they excel in hiphop, etc, and they're also surprisingly decent for rock as well, however the guitar in some tracks will be muddy. The treble is not overbearing and is present, but I would expect some to find it congested. The DT770 was too harsh in trebles for me, so take that as you will

It's probably because the whole pinout thing is obscure and Microsoft never bothered to properly explain the problem. I had to open up several remotes from both Apple and Android to discover this myself.

There are alternatives for the Sennheiser models. You could buy a replacement cable with an Android remote straight from Sennheiser like this (it says it's for the Momentums but it works with most Sennheiser models with a detachable cable, any with the locking 2.5mm cable that I think is the spawn of hell) or for better chat you could get something like this, though that particular model has reviews that say it isn't very durable.

Hi. The headphones will definitely work with Android as far as listening, but the inline remote that allows you to control play/pause/next track/etc., only works with iOS. If you control playback via your phone (like I tend to do), the inline remote doesn't matter. I have an iPhone, but can't remember ever using the remote on the cable. If you want, you can buy the Android cable on Amazon or elsewhere (https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-RCG-M2-Momentum-Headphones/dp/B00OUKG3NE) but that probably negates my "great price". Hope this helps.

Amazon.Ca has the cable you are looking for, last I saw it was $25.

Edit: I looked on Amazon and it is now $35.

the cable for my hd461G broke like a month ago, so i've decided to replace it but i can't find generic options in my country, so i looked on amazon and this cable is somewhat the same as mine: https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-RCG-M2-Momentum-Headphones/dp/B00OUKG3NE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1496329698&sr=8-1&keywords=sennheiser+cable
it says the cable is for momentum series, but because of both plugs(3.5mm and 2.5mm) are 4 pole, i think it may work on my hd461, should i give it a shot?

Crap, I already ordered one. Here: http://www.custom-cable.co.uk/sennheiser-hd598-replacement-lead-3m.html

It looks like it does have that from the image.

Hopefully this one has it. The other cord I bought from it to use for phone calls and xbox has it as well(can see in the pic), so looks like it doesn't have to be official: http://smile.amazon.com/Sennheiser-RCG-M2-Momentum-Headphones/dp/B00OUKG3NE?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00

Glad I didn't go with that other Amazon one others are recommending!

I looked at the link and it seems as though it’s an iOS version. Maybe they have an android version as well?
These are the ones I bought, but they are Sennheiser specific (proprietary cable lock)

The apple version doesn't work because apple has a proprietary solution for their own products. The android one works fine. You can get the Android cable on amazon here. There are some other cheaper options if you dig a bit.

Let me add onto this question for OP not to answer, but might help with some later decisions. If you buy this headset, is there any way to adapt a V-MODA BoomPro mic to it? I'm trying to find an adapter that will work, but haven't had any success. It seems like Senheiser has a proprietary 1.5mm port I believe. Correct me if I'm wrong.
