Currently looking at upgrading my Nikon 18-55mm Kit Lens to something a bit better. Currently considering this Sigma 17-70mm F2.8 - 4or this Nikon 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6

Price isn't really the deciding factor for me (within reason, budget is about £450-500), image quality is what I'm after. Has anyone here used either of these lenses and could offer some thoughts?

I have a Nikon D3500, with the kit lens (18-55mm, f/3.5-5.6). I've been having a blast learning with it, and I especially love going hiking and taking nature shots and landscapes, and even the occasional wildlife shot if I get lucky. I am also interested in trying out some cityscape photography, and maybe some street photography soon. I was thinking about getting a second lens to have a little more variety, which of the following would you guys recommend?

Nikon 55-200mm, f/4-5.6

Sigma 17-70, f/2.8-4

Nikon 18-140, f/3.5-5.6

Is the difference between f2.8 and f3.5 noticeable? I want to get a faster lens then the kit lens with my Nikon d5300 and I was wondering if I should get the Sigma 17-70mm f2.8-4. If there is a significant difference, should I go for the newer 17-70 which is around $500 i think or the older one which is basically half the price around $240.

Hello! I'm looking at the Sigma 18-70mm f/2.8 which typifies the type of lens that I want next. The price range for the Sigma is very good, though I am willing to spend up to $600 for the lens at the moment.

I currently own a Micro-Nikkor 40mm 2.8, and a Nikkor 70-300mm VR, and I'm looking to replace the Micro-Nikkor, which I purchased as my first lens with my D5200 body.

Basically, I am looking for a sharp lens that will cover the gap between wide and short-telephoto for a reasonable price. Thank you so much!

Well, it goes for at least $400

idk why OP would want to sell a lens for little more than 1/2 its value,
