Coming from someone who's had chronic back pain their whole adult life, and has used one of the higher end version of these - a good chair is important but not as important as a good mattress and pillow.

This is the high end "workpro" model: http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/493966/WorkPro-Commercial-Mesh-Back-Executive-Chair/

This is the one i got, on sale for $140 this weekend:
http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/448590/WorkPro-Quantum-Mesh-Mid-Back-Task/

Both are loads better than those dxracer chairs.

And this chair is not very good, I've tried the nice one and still had back issues - tried one of the "workpro" models from office depot for 140$ and i can tell you its loads better.

Going back to the mattress though, if you suffer from lower back/shoulder/neck pain - get yourself a good memory foam/gel mattress, i got one last Friday and am almost completely pain free now, i never knew how much it mattered until i slept on my sister's "sleep innovations" 12" foam mattress after moving an entire apartment of stuff up 4 flights of stairs.… i woke up with no back pain the next morning, and instantly went and bought myself one.

This is the mattress you should get if you have back issues like i did, skip the chair for now and do yourself a favor: https://www.amazon.com/Sleep-Innovations-Shiloh-12-inch-Mattress/dp/B003CT37L0/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1478128801&sr=8-3&keywords=sleep+innovations

I just bought my second one of these for a guest bed, and have been sleeping on the same one for 3 years now. Amazing bed, especially for the price. Has a 20 year warranty, just like Tempurpedic.

Edit: I always confuse bed and mattress; OP, are you looking for a bed frame or a mattress?

u/DaedraLord · 18 pointsr/specializedtools

I bought a queen sized memory foam mattress for $350 on Amazon a few years ago. Been amazing so far. Has 10 year full warranty.

Edit: It's this one. Sleep Innovations Shiloh 12-inch Memory Foam Mattress, Queen https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003CT37L0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_JvzIAb7M0K5XV

While you were out haggling with a mattress salesman I had a beer and bought the most comfortable mattress you can get for 400 bucks.

u/kevinkm77 · 12 pointsr/fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu

Just get a partial memory foam mattress like this one or get a memory foam mattress topper.

u/pocketasian · 7 pointsr/Frugal

Amazon.

I recently bought a queen size, memory foam mattress (2 inches of mem foam and 10 inches of reg. foam). I have amazon prime so it shipped for free in 2 days. The mattress took a day to expand out of the packaging and it had a chemical smell for a little while but I was super happy with the purchase, I didn't have to go anywhere and talk to anyone to do it, and the mattress is super comfortable. I spent $517 and it was worth it.

Edit: Our mattress is on the floor and I can't tell the difference between that and having it on some sort of platform or frame. This is the one we bought. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003CT37L0/ref=oss_product

u/PirateKilt · 7 pointsr/explainlikeimfive

Exactly. We've replaced all the old mattresses we had for our 4BR house with these and couldn't be happier with them.

u/known_ire · 5 pointsr/Frugal

This has been recommended before, and it was such a great idea I bookmarked it. If I could give proper credit I would, but Reddit's search function is the absolute most useless piece of garbage I've ever been subject to in 20 years of computing. I've owned more $1000-$2000 mattresses in my life than I'd genuinely care to admit, and this combination is more amazing than any of them:

u/Lugicarus · 5 pointsr/fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu

How can it be 77% off? Amazon link and I have Prime Shipping. There doesn't seem to be a downside to this.

u/nothingbutt · 4 pointsr/Frugal

You can also get them from Amazon in 12 inch and 10 inch heights. I have the 12 inch and highly recommend it -- it's $430 right now for the queen. The only issue is you really want a topper for summer if you are a warm sleeper as it really insulates you. It is great during the winter.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003CT37L0/

I put it on top of an inexpensive (and maybe not frugal as not very durable in terms of finish) Ikea Malm frame:

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S39849855/

And what I think is the key part -- the best support slats they have:

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/60125969/#/20125971

Having Costco deliver does sound very nice though. I had to haul mine up three flights of stairs and it was a workout.

u/RealNotFake · 4 pointsr/Fitness

Getting proper sleep is vital during your rest periods for you muscles to rebuild. Don't have loads of cash? Then buy one of these bad boys and be done with it. That's the mattress I sleep on and I can vouch for the ridiculously good value. Once you go memory foam you won't go back. These are basically the same exact thing as tempurpedic but super cheap.

u/totally_not_at_work · 4 pointsr/BuyItForLife

I hated. HATED. my sleep number mattress. I had an "expanded queen" which is the same as a queen size, but six inches wider, with two air bladders. the two air bladders were tiny, and provided no support for a man my size (6'5"). The mattress felt wonderful for a few months, until the outer shell broke down and the only support was the air bladder.

Two separate air bladders means no cuddling - any variation in firmness (which is inevitable) will result in an uncomfortable ridge in the middle of the bed. If you have sex in or near that ridge, you will stretch the shell, and create a gaping chasm of sorrow in the middle of the bed.

I suspect that a single bladder mattress would be acceptable, but for the price and durability (roughly 18-24 months) it is not worth it.

I currently rock one of these these, which costs 1/10th the price, and has already outlasted my sleep number in terms of comfort.

I am on month 12 with this mattress, I don't expect it to last much more than five years. At $100 a year for pillow like comfort, I am very, very happy.

u/truenoise · 3 pointsr/DesignMyRoom

I agree with downsizing the bed - it definitely dominates your long skinny room. We actually replaced a newish expensive posturpedic with this reasonably priced mattress and couldn't be happier. You don't need a boxspring.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003CT37L0/

You can also get wallpaper to mimic that feature wall:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003CT37L0/

If I were you, I'd splurge on lighting (task light for reading, mood lighting, etc) and getting a nice dock and speaker set up for your phone / music. Be sure to include artwork that is important to you, and bedding that you love.

u/Bridger15 · 3 pointsr/explainlikeimfive

They aren't. We just moved to a new house and bought this one from amazon for $450. So far it's been great, and is very comfortable.

u/austin713 · 3 pointsr/perktv

my guess is this Queen with a dust cover.

u/optimist_dreamer · 3 pointsr/BuyItForLife

Sometimes Novaform is also on Amazon. I'm not sure how the price compares to Costco.

$349.99 + free shipping with prime. Had mine since April 14, 2014

Downsides :
takes like 2 days to decompress once you get it - and i see you're in a time pinch.
You absolutely should buy a protector at the same time, and those are hard to get right ... some of my ... 'sleepovers' complain this protector is too hot - probably because it is waterproof - which might be a good add for op. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0035E63WM?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00

upsides:
pretty much everything else, comfort, price, quality, durability. Spring mattresses are good when new new (1-2 yrs) especially for husky (250lbs) young men who like to ..... jump ... on the bed, this thing is just as good since the first day my evil bitch ex girlfriend unboxed it while I was still at school. The video on the unboxing looked pretty awesome..... but i will never know if it was actually that awesome.

u/psykiv · 2 pointsr/funny

I had a mattress shipped using Amazon Prime. It came in a box that would easily fit in a standard sedan.

Of course once you opened the box it inflated nearly instantly to the actual size.

Seconding Fred's Beds, I got mine from there and it was good.

Alternatively, a friend got this mattress (http://www.amazon.com/Sleep-Innovations-SureTemp-Mattress-Warranty/dp/B003CT37L0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1367893010&sr=8-1&keywords=foam+mattress) from amazon and she really likes it. I think it's weird to buy a mattress before trying it, but her argument was 5 minutes of sitting on a mattress in the store vs hundreds of amazon reviews may give the amazon reviews an advantage over a quick judgement in a store. So maybe try online too?

u/STRAIGHT_TO_BR · 2 pointsr/sleep

I had never slept on a memory foam in my life, bought this one and I can't recommend it enough. Also don't just listen to me, the Amazon reviews tell the same story.

u/wtcnbrwndo4u · 2 pointsr/DIY

Buy a memory foam mattress. They're stupid cheap.

Lucid - $250

Signature Sleep - $280

Sleep Innovations - $450

u/MoJo37C · 2 pointsr/Frugal

I own this one, and it's fantastic. It also has a 20(!) year warranty. No issues with heat...I wouldn't believe anyone who makes that claim. And I, too, am a hot sleeper, and the worst thing in the world to me is to not be able to sleep because I'm all sweaty. I have not had that problem with this mattress.

u/joeltrane · 2 pointsr/BuyItForLife

Yeah, I did some research on the different densities. I was mainly trying to decide between this mattress with 4" of 4 lb density and [this one] (http://www.amazon.com/Sleep-Innovations-SureTemp-Mattress-Warranty/dp/B003CT37L0/ref=pd_sbs_hg_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=10252NKCFKSG0ZTPDHYJ) listed on here last week with 2.5" of 3 lb density memory foam. I was concerned that the other one would not have enough memory foam to feel comfortable and that the 3 lb density might wear out more quickly.

One of the top reviews for this mattress was by a 200 lb woman and she seems to love it, so I'm hoping it will work out for me. I weigh about 215, by the way.

u/Dk10c · 1 pointr/AskNYC

Ooooohh I have a recommendation! I love this one I've literally bought it twice. The package is really heavy though so make sure it's delivered into your apt. I had to lug it like twenty feet and it was difficult.

u/dpb1 · 1 pointr/funny

Not the same one, but I bought this 6 years ago:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003CT37L0/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Feels the same (wonderful) now as it did then. Half the price of anything memory-foam in a mattress store. 1/5 to 1/10 the price of tempur-pedic.

u/rabidstoat · 1 pointr/personalfinance

I ended up getting a cheap but sturdy metal frame, a headboard-in-a-box, a cheap bed board (had a box frame originally, but it made the bed too high) and the big expenditure, a memory foam mattress, all purchased from Amazon.com. Had the mattress for about 18 months and it's been awesome! So much better than my old mattress. It's a bit more expensive now, was $429 when I got it originally: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B003CT37L0

u/Tsii · 1 pointr/povertyfinance

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003CT37L0/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I bought this 5 years ago and love it... was 500 something then, looks like only 300 now.

u/PhoenixKA · 1 pointr/fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu

I ordered this one recently. I am pleased with it. I was sleeping on a futon before with a bent frame, so anything would be an upgrade I guess.

u/AudioHazard · 1 pointr/mildlyinteresting

Not that one exactly, but I got a similar one in a queen size last week, and it comes in California King. Can't even imagine seeing that unfold.

u/freedom311 · 1 pointr/Charlotte

My friend bought this. I fell in love the first time I tried it out and had to buy one for myself. I've had mine for 16 months and now my mother wants to get one. https://www.amazon.com/Sleep-Innovations-Shiloh-12-inch-Mattress/dp/B003CT37L0

It is warm. I like my bed warm though. If you get hot really easily then meh.

You will have to check on a return policy but I do believe there is one if you hate it.

It may be hard but it softens up as your body generates heat. Winter you may notice it more hard. Doesn't bother me.

You can read reviews and sort them by new. I love it. I no longer wake up in back pain. Also got a nice memory foam pillow and my neck feels great every morning now too. https://www.amazon.com/Memory-Pillow-Luxurious-Velour-Washable/dp/B0049E1OOE

I'm using stuff from Sleep Innovations - check it out here.

u/wildmonkeymind · 1 pointr/AskWomen

I own this one, which I have now recommended to many people. Amazing mattress, incredible price. I've now owned it for about four years, and I don't think I've ever slept on a mattress I've found more comfortable.

u/OwnerOfChaos · 1 pointr/AskWomen

We bought this one a little over a year ago and LOVE it. It's firm, doesn't sleep hot, and with Prime delivered right to our door.

u/iheartinfinity · 1 pointr/Mattress

Haha that's crazy, I feel sorry for you!

The Sleep Innovations 12" Shiloh mattress is a fantastic mattress for side sleepers, see here: https://www.amazon.com/Sleep-Innovations-Shiloh-12-inch-Mattress/dp/B003CT37L0

I really love the Tempur-pedic knockoff I got on Amazon. Plus, a 20-year warranty and eligible for Prime Shipping. I coupled this with an Instant Foundation and put it in a new king-size frame that I bought at a discount furniture store.

I'm quite happy with my purchase. The mattres and foundation, combined, were $775 (for a King set) when I bought it. I had the money available, but opened up an Amazon Credit Card at the time for an extra 10% off (or maybe it was $50? It was two years ago, tough to remember) and also bought Prime at the same time.

u/kepton · 1 pointr/business

The price paid is not just cost of manufacture. Many other expenses go into it. But look at this foam mattress on Amazon.Com. Has over 1000 reviews at over 4.5 stars and is less than half the cost of what is available at a store:

http://www.amazon.com/Sleep-Innovations-SureTemp-Mattress-Warranty/dp/B003CT37L0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1395267692&sr=8-2&keywords=foam+mattress

And Amazon has a return policy!
