The most common types of silicone for casting are platinum-cure silicone and tin-cure silicone. Platinum is more expensive, but it's also more stable, lasts longer, you can boil it once cured, and it doesn't degrade like tin silicone does. Tin silicone is also not as body-safe, and isn't supposed to be used directly against the skin (though SFX artists often make temporary prosthetics out of it).
